Richie James- 69 snaps (97%), also had 3 ST snaps
Week 10 Stats: 5 targets, 3 catches, 26 receiving yards
All season the 49ers have been extremely banged up and that certainly applies to their receiving core. Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, the team’s top two wide receivers haven’t been healthy at the same time since Week 7.
The past two weeks Richie James has tried to take advantage of that and while he definitely succeeded in Week 9–when he went off for 184 yards and a touchdown, this past week he was a massive letdown.
Richie played 97% of the offensive snaps in a game when Nick Mullens threw the ball 38 times but was only able to end up with just over 5 fantasy points.
There isn’t much to look forward to for Richie since Deebo should be returning from his injury after the bye this week. It’s probably time to cut ties with Richie from your fantasy teams, he’s just a waste of a roster spot at this point.
DeAndre Hopkins- 70 snaps (96%)
Week 10 Stats: 12 targets, 7 catches, 127 receiving yards, 1 Hail Mary touchdown
It’s crazy to me that so many of us in the fantasy community decided to somewhat fade DeAndre Hopkins this year after he was traded to the Cardinals.
I really don’t know what we were thinking, he had a very lateral quarterback change and he’s shown us in the past he can play with anyone.
Let’s talk about this season a little bit, so far Hopkins is the fantasy WR4 on the season and has scored 20+ points in 6/9 games.
The Cardinals schedule is a bit rough the rest of the way for opposing receivers but we all know that Hopkins is a must-start and that we don’t really have to worry about him. With their bye week in the rearview mirror just leave Hopkins in your WR1 spot and let it ride.
Brandon Aiyuk- 68(96%)
Week 10 Stats: 14 targets, 7 catches, 75 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown
The second 49ers receiver on the list for today is Brandon Aiyuk. This rookie has really shown out this year, currently the WR29 in fantasy leagues while also missing two games.
Other than the two games he didn’t play in, he’s played at least 75% of the snaps in the other seven games.
I love Aiyuk as a player but with Deebo coming back into the offense and the inconsistencies they’ve been dealing with at quarterback I really don’t feel comfortable relying on him in my lineups.
All together, I would be trying to avoid starting any 49ers players until they get things together, but there are much worse starts than Aiyuk.
