The Chargers new found bell cow at running-back, Kalen Ballage, has been an admirable fill-in at RB1 for Los Angeles. That’s what he is. He’s been serviceable and he’s flashed potential, but it’s Ekeler’s backfield.
Austin Ekeler will soon return to action and presume the lead role in the backfield. It’s already been reported in “The Athletic”, that they expect Ekeler to return to action in Week 12.
All in all, I don’t see this anywhere near a situation where Ballage has gained the chance to steal reps away from Ekeler. Ballage averaged less than 5 points a contest before Ekeler hit the injury bug in Week 4.
In Week 11, Ballage averaged 2.9 YPC against the Jets. An injured offensive line doesn’t help the cause, but Ballage won’t be able to make up for tough running lanes, by being a contributor in the passing game.
Let’s not be mistaken, Ekeler is often a Top-6 RB for PPR leagues. I would strongly consider and likely would exchange Ballage if Ballage gets faded out in Week 12.
