Trade away Carson Wentz

Intro

Yes! the 2021 NFL season is a week in the books. However, dynasty football is a year-round marathon. There’s so much work that goes into watching games, analyzing the tape, studying tendencies, etc. to draft players in dynasty leagues that will help build your squad over the long run.

Much like the NFL hitching your wagon to the right QB will do wonders for your team and allow you to build from the ground up. Today we’ll discuss a couple of QBs that you want to trade away on your dynasty teams. These are players that I’m projecting to not be in ideal spots for the long haul thus will not pay dividends in dynasty leagues. Let’s get started!

Carson Wentz somehow managed to fumble on a QB sneak in which he wasn't tackled. That's impressive.
— Dugar, Michael-Shawn (@MikeDugar) September 12, 2021

Quarterbacks

Carson Wentz – Now, I expect Wentz to have an okay season and he will probably start every game. He has one of the best offensive lines in front of him and improved talent around him from a year ago. However, since we are talking dynasty QBs, Wentz isn’t an option long term.

It’s not that Wentz doesn’t produce solid numbers, however, he isn’t that oomph he had before his ACL and LCL tear in his left knee in 2017. Wentz also doesn’t provide the rushing upside as most of these younger QBs have. He is limited to being a pocket QB with limited mobile upside. With a shift in the league with how GMs are drafting QBs it makes the most sense to trade away Wentz, get decent draft capital back for him and trade for younger rookie QBs or wait til the 2022 NFL to draft a replacement.

Wentz may really not be the best short-term QB as “some” may have foreseen. Wentz was slightly a game manager against an okay Seattle defense from a year ago. If Wentz doesn’t play above average this year, it should be expected that he won’t have strong job security with his contract — not to mention the roster built for a QB to win now.

Daniel Jones when it's time to fumble. pic.twitter.com/W1djB6rknW
— Kevin Clark (@bykevinclark) September 12, 2021

Daniel Jones – This is a make-or-break year for Jones. He has enough offensive talent around him along with Saquon Barkley returning. There is no excuse for Jones not to step up and deliver. However, the question is will he?? Simple answer is, no!

Jones is behind an awful offensive line. This is a huge concern and has been for a while now. I just don’t see Jones getting rid of the fumble/turnover issues that have plagued him for his first two seasons in the NFL. At this point, it might be time to cut bait and start over. There are so many talented rookie QBs this season that much greater talent around them and opportunity that Jones isn’t worth holding onto any longer.

In Week 1, Jones showed his lack of explosion as he just had 267 yards and a single touchdown. Jones has weapons galore and he’s young, so take that to your advantage in selling him now!

Jalen Hurts – Staying in the NFC East, Hurts is another QB that you need to trade away. He has tremendous upside in fantasy with his rushing ability and had a great last season last year but Hurts isn’t the long-term answer in dynasty leagues. I really don’t see much talent arm-wise.

Hurts actually played quite well last week. I don’t expect him to maintain a high quality of play or the HC-QB combo to have a fruitful career in the city of brotherly love. Although, there are A LOT of die hard Hurts fans and they sincerely bought into the hype he gathered from lots of analysts this offseason. Now after a solid Week 1 showcase against the atrocious Falcons pass defense, I would ship him off your roster.

Conclusion

As mentioned above in the intro, it takes time to scout good talent, especially in the quarterback position. However, if you are holding onto QBs like the ones above just because of one or two decent seasons then you aren’t planning correctly for the future of your dynasty squad. A huge part of the dynasty is to know when to cut bait, take your losses and move on. Sure, this can be time-consuming and a bit annoying but hey, it’s just fantasy! Have fun and enjoy being a GM!

Buy Broncos TE Noah Fant

By: Sukhwant Singh

Intro

Every year we as fantasy owners cringe when comes to drafting tight ends. Be it PPR or standard leagues there are just not enough premium TEs available. Once the heavy hitters, Travis Kelce, Darren Waller, George Kittle, and Mark Andrews are off the board the rest of the crop is pretty average to below average.

In this article, we’ll focus on that next tier which can make or break your fantasy squad. I’ll be doing this article based on PPR league rankings/points. With that said let’s get started!

T.J. Hockenson = star in the making. pic.twitter.com/Bu6LCMIcw5
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 22, 2021

Top three Tight Ends to buy:

T.J. Hockenson

I’m on the hype train for T.J. Hockenson this season. I know the QB position has taken a bit of a hit with Jared Goff now at the helm instead of Matthew Stafford but this shouldn’t affect Hockenson’s value much. The team lost its top WRs in Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones, and Mohamed Sanu.

This now opens opportunities for plenty for Hockenson especially working those underneath routes. Hockenson finished last season as a TE5 with 175.3 total points in PPR formats. I fully expect him to exceed those numbers easily this season! Look for Hockenson/Goff to hit it off early and often this season. Acquiring Hockenson, given the right price is a trade worth assessing and committing to.

Noah Fant

It’s almost unfair the amount of QB uncertainty and bad QB play that Noah Fant has been dealing with. Even with that said Fant finished with 149.3 fantasy points which were good for TE9. Fant’s current ADP has him going in round 7 and later. That to me is an absolute steal!

Drew Lock/Teddy Bridgwater will bring the best in each other (at least we all hope they do) and that should have a direct result in better QB play overall. In addition, top receiving weapon Cortland Sutton will be back and fully healthy, so most of the defensive focus will shift towards him. This leaves Fant to win one on one coverage with slower linebackers and/or smaller safeties. Fant can be had for a tremendous value.

Tyler Higbee

I cant wait to see the chemistry/connection that Stafford develops with Tyler Higbee during this summer and into the season. Higbee finished as the TE8 in 2019 with 160.4 fantasy points. Although last year was a bit of a down year for him I expect him to bounce back in a big way.

Firstly, Stafford is now his QB. A big upgrade over Goff! Secondly, his target stealer (Gerald Everett) is now in Seattle. This leaves Higbee as the best TE option on the team. In 2020 Higbee out-snapped Everett by over 200 snaps! Higbee is set for a big role this season and fully expect him to break out and have a huge fantasy year.

Top three Tight Ends to sell:

Mike Gesicki

I’m just not a believer in the Dolphins QB situation. Mike Gesicki finished as a TE7 with 159.3 fantasy points in 2020. Now with the addition of Will Fuller and rookie Jaylen Waddle to an already crowded receiving core room. There are plenty of weapons on the Dolphins offense and I’m not sure that Tua Tagovailoa will be able to spread the ball around as needed.

This is where Gesicki’s fantasy outlook takes a hit. He might be the odd man out in terms of weekly sustained fantasy production on that team and this is where you as fantasy owners can get solid value for Gesicki. There will be plenty of TE-hungry fantasy managers will take the name and past fantasy production without looking at the complete picture/context. Take advantage of it and sell Gesicki high!

Evan Engram

In a similar boat as Gesicki, Evan Engram is the odd man out. The Giants added Kenny Golladay, drafted Kadarius Toney and will have Saquan Barkley back from injury. Just like with the Dolphins and Tua, I’m not sure if Jones will be able to keep all these mouths happy and fed often enough.

Engram finished as TE15 last season with 141 fantasy points. This is without the above names being on the team last season. Daniel Jones is in a make-or-break season and thus far I haven’t seen enough to convince me that he can be in that top 15 QB tier. Sell Engram as he another big name out there but little fantasy value.

Kyle Pitts

Now before everybody goes crazy as to why I’m mentioning Kyle Pitts, let me explain. This sell on Pitts is for redraft leagues ONLY! Second, I’m only saying sell because of his current ADP value of 4.04. This is insane for a player who has yet to take an NFL snap.

Pitts would have to have one of the greatest rookie TE seasons in NFL history for him to be worth that high of pick. We all have seen how rookies tend to struggle to get adjusted to the NFL level. Pitts will be no different. I’m not saying he will be a bust. What I am saying is that to draft Pitts with your third or fourth pick and say he goes 65/600/5 as his stat line, that would be good for about TE10!

Last season Hunter Henry posted a 60/613/4 line in 14 games with the Chargers good for TE12! You see it’s all about value. You can find other TEs that can give similar production that can be had in a later round. Now if Pitts falls down the ladder to you in rounds eight or later then by all means scoop him up. However, to make him one of your first top five picks isn’t worth it. Sell high and get back a huge haul!

Wentz is a top QB sleeper in fantasy

Intro

We are speeding into fantasy draft season come August. Every year there are players that intrigue us based on their role/situation with their current teams. I’d take a look at the quarterback position and dive into three sleepers at QB that should be looked into for redraft leagues.

Carson Wentz, Sam Darnold and Ryan Fitzpatrick are my QB sleepers heading into the 2021 NFL fantasy redraft drafts. Each one of these guys are now on teams and hoping a fresh start can start can get them into the upper tier of QB fantasy rankings.

Carson Wentz

Season 2020 stats: 12 games started, 2620 passing yards, 16 TDs and 15 Ints. Wentz went 3-8-1 in the 12 games started for the Eagles. Wentz scored 213.40 fantasy points in 2020 which was good for 22nd among all QBs. After having an MVP caliber season back in 2017, he has never been quite the same. For whatever the reasons might be, Wentz lost that magic touch.

Wentz was traded in the off-season to Colts is now re-united with his old offensive coordinator Frank Reich. The 2017 season was a breakout one for Wentz, he threw 33 TDs, 7 INTs, and 3296 passing yards before he tore his left ACL in week 14. Wentz was fifth-best fantasy QB that season with a total of 283 fantasy points.

I’m fully on board with the Wentz fantasy train this season. The reunion of Wentz with his old offensive coordinator will do wonders for his career especially this season. He also playing behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Do not sleep on Wentz as a top 15 fantasy QB play for the 2021 season.

Sam Darnold

Season 2020 stats: 12 games started, 2208 passing yards, 9 TDs and 11 Ints. Yes, you guys read that correctly just nine passing touchdowns all season by Darnold! He was the 30th QB in terms of fantasy points with just 145.02. Just for context Dak Prescott had 138 fantasy points in just 5 games before his injury.

Darnold is an enigma of sorts. He has shown flashes of brilliance, making off-balance throws and escapability out of the pocket. The issue is that he’s just shown flashes. There have been way too many mind-numbing turnovers, head-scratching decisions, and just downright awful QB play. Now, Darnold was also playing with the worst offensive line unit in the NFL for the past three seasons. He had no standout play-makers who would scare the opposing defenses and the worst head coach the last two seasons.

However, that is all in the past. I am a believer in Darnold’s ability. After being traded in the off-season to the Carolina Panthers, he has a clean slate. With head coach Matt Rhule at the helm, Darnold is set to prove his doubters wrong. He has the best running back in the NFL in Christian McCaffrey, with a plethora of other offensive weapons including rookie wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr.

Darnold has the best supporting cast and coaching staff he has ever been around. There is no question that Darnold has the talent, it was always when he can put it all together and be consistent. Darnold in terms of fantasy relevance will be late round steal. Yes, let others in your draft snag the highly touted QBs while you build roster depth. A serviceable QB in the late rounds of fantasy drafts is a gold mine. Darnold will be a late round hidden gem.

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Season 2020 stats: 7 games started, 2091 passing yards, 13 TDs and 8 Ints. Ah, the ageless wonder himself, old man winter etc. the names can go on and on for Fitzpatrick but he just keeps on. Fitzpatrick was the 28th fantasy QB last season with 160.74 fantasy points.

Leaving the Miami Dolphins in the off-season for the Washington Football team is the best win-now scenario for Fitzpatrick. That defense is absolutely loaded and going to wreak havoc this upcoming season. As far as offensively, Fitzpatrick has arguably the best talent that he’s been around, maybe ever. Antonio Gibson is a rock star and Terry McLaurin is an absolute stud. The team signed all-purpose wide receiver Curtis Samuel and drafted rookie, Dyami Brown.

Under coach Ron Rivera, Fitzpatrick can flourish in that system with those play-makers on offense. The best part is that he knows that defense will back him up no matter what, so you could essentially see a looser Fitzpatrick not having to carry the entire team on his back. Look for Fitzpatrick to be another late round grab in fantasy drafts.

Rookie Elijah Moore will be a playmaker in New York

By: Sukhwant Singh

Intro

Elijah Moore couldn’t have asked for a better spot to have been drafted to. The New York Jets are on the way up. Yes, you heard that right, barring any injuries to its core players, this team is on the rise. The new coaching staff led by head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur will be installing their version of the West Coast system.

Falling into the second round of the 2021 draft, the Jets wasted no time in scooping up Moore. Moore had a fantastic junior season at Ole Miss. He amassed 86 receptions, 1193 yards, and 8 TDs. Moore also made the 2020 Consensus All-America team. In fact, the 1193 receiving yards were second in the SEC only to Heisman trophy winner DeVonta Smith.

Now, onto why the Jets are a great fit for Moore and vice versa. Drafting rookie quarterback Zach Wilson with the second overall pick, the Jets needed to give Wilson weapons. They added Corey Davis and Keelan Cole in free agency. This is on top of already having Denzel Mims and Jamison Crowder on the roster.

#Jets announce that rookie QB Zach Wilson will wear No. 2 in the NFL — not No. 1 which is what he wore at BYU. Second-round WR Elijah Moore will wear No. 8.
— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) May 13, 2021

We all know that there are two types of best friends for a quarterback especially a young one. Either a tight end or slot wide receiver to work those short over the middle routes. This is where Moore excels. He is insanely good after the catch in the open field. This will help Wilson out tremendously to get rid of the ball quickly to a play-maker liker Moore.

Being that both Wilson and Moore are rookies, the two will develop an instant connection over the spring/summer both on and off the field. Moore has elite play-making abilities in the open field, exactly what the Jets have lacked over the last few years. Now, some of you will say what about Jamison Crowder, won’t he interfere with Moore’s development being both are slot wide receivers?

The answer to that question is a resounding, NO! The Jets will save 10m by cutting Crowder and that money can be allocated elsewhere, primarily in getting help in the secondary. The reason why Crowder was not cut earlier in the off-season was because the Jets did not expect Moore to fall to them in the second round.

The Jets also still have Braxton Berrios on the team as well, who is also a cheaper option to keep compared to Crowder. Moore will have all the opportunity to become to take over the slot position and become the star receiver the Jets have been looking for since Keyshawn Johnson!

Keyshawn Johnson to Jets: Call me to fix this mess https://t.co/JSSfPJnfip pic.twitter.com/mrWD3fqnVY
— New York Post (@nypost) November 4, 2019

Fantasy Impact

Expect Moore to put up big numbers playing in the West Coast system. This system is tailor-made to suit his skill-set with play-action passing and taking those over the middle shots. I really do believe Moore barring any injuries is set to have a big year and great career ahead of him. He will be the more electric and dynamic version of Crowder.

Now in the fantasy football drafts, Moore will fall down the charts because he is playing on the Jets. There aren’t many believers out there in the Jets especially offensively. However, don’t be fooled by these assumptions. Wilson and Moore will form a good tandem for years to come and I fully seeing that taking off this year. Crowder put up 59 receptions, 699 yards and 6 TDs in 12 games. Expect Moore to beat those numbers easily and then some.

Conclusion

Moore set to dominate and the Jets for once have been fortunate to be on the right side of things. Growing pains will always occur to young players, especially rookies. I trust the Jets coaching staff will put Moore in the best situations to allow him to excel and bring him along slowly.

Where will Free agent Sheldon Richardson sign?

Intro

Sheldon Richardson entered the league in 2013 as the 13th overall pick in the 1st round by the New York Jets. His career seemed destined for stardom. Richardson won the defensive rookie of the year in 2013, followed by both pro bowl and all-pro first team honors in 2014. However, the early success didn’t last long. His play started to fall as well as the Jets team around him.

Richardson was then traded by the Jets in 2016 and since then he been on three different teams. He now will be looking for this fourth different team in the last six seasons. Richardson can still play and be valuable asset along that defensive line. His skill-set would be best suited for a team contending for a championship at this point.

Below are a few teams that can best use Richardson’s services and be a good fit for both sides.

Teams

Baltimore Ravens – With guys like Aaron Crawford, Derek Wolfe, Braxton Hoyett etc. along the interior defensive-line, Richardson can be added value here. He brings along a ton of experience, including the past two seasons with rival Cleveland Browns and can easily fit across anywhere on the line. He has experience playing the edge spots, that versatility can make attractive to team like the Ravens looking to make that Super-bowl run.

Kansas City Chiefs – Rich get richer? Absolutely! Richardson could be the perfect person to play behind/along side guys like Chris Jones, Derrick Nnadi, Taco Charlton etc. along that defensive-line. Having gone to back to back Superbowls the Chiefs will be looking to re-load and go all-in one more time with it’s currently structured roster.

This would be a great fit for Richardson to use athletic play style under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s system. With not much proven depth behind Jones and Nnadi in the interior defensive-line, Richardson can make for serious playing time with the Chiefs.

Atlanta Falcons – Yes, I know the Falcons aren’t the most favorite of SB contenders out there. However, this team still has what it takes with the immense amount of talent it has on both sides of the ball. New head coach, Arthur Smith will infuse new life into the team thus making them a sneaky good pick.

With that said, this is another spot that Richardson can come in and thrive. Dean Pees and his aggressive defense will create havoc for offenses and Richardson can play anywhere along the line. Pees likes to put his play-makers in the best position possible to do what they do best, make plays! Richardson and Grady Jarrett can be fearsome double-headed monster for opposing offenses.

Tennessee Titans – Not the most appealing of options but this is also a good fit if the price is right. Having just over 6m in salary cap space, this might be a tight squeeze to fit in Richardson. However, if the two sides can come to agreement, Richardson can play along side the younger guys in Teair Tart and Jullian Taylor.

This would be a good learning experience for both Tart and Taylor to learn from a guy like Richardson who has been through the wars. The Titans lacked a pass rush in the 2020 season. They accumulated just 19 sacks the whole season! Yes, 19 sacks which was good for 30th in the league. For context, TJ Watt had 15 sacks by himself. Now, Richardson is not a sack master by any means but he can certainly give that line a much needed infusion of power.

Wildcard pick – New York Jets – This would be a return home for Richardson. The Jets are no where near a contender of any sorts but Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas have something building in NY. Richardson can come back to where he started and help the Jets become relevant once again. Richardson teaming with budding star Quinnen Williams would be an awesome sight to see. I don’t think this particular re-union will come to fruition but hey we’ve seen weirder things happen before.

Conclusion

Richardson has fallen off the cliff steeply over the past few seasons. However, given the right scheme and culture fit he can be more than a serviceable player. Motivation is always key for players who seem to move around quite often.

Players are constantly trying to prove that they still have what it takes to be successful and impactful players. Richardson is no different and will look for a bounce back season in 2021.

Three Round mock draft for the Jacksonville Jaguars

By: Sukhwant Singh

In the 2017 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars went 10-6, won the AFC South and advanced to the AFC Championship game. Just fours years later the Jaguars are totally different team. New head coach Urban Meyer is at the helm replacing Doug Marrone. Trent Baalke was named full-time general manager after performing interim general manager duties in the 2020 season.

The Jaguars have a total of 10 draft picks this year’s draft. The team is need of serious talent infusion especially on the defensive side of the ball. The team has needs at cornerback, safety, edge rusher, offensive line, tight end and quarterback. With 5 of the 10 picks coming in the top 100, this is a great situation for the Jaguars to fill their holes.

Below is a three round mock draft:

Just a ridiculous play by Trevor Lawrence and Marvin Jones.

Everything going wrong for the Colts right now. pic.twitter.com/SJ4kPaM6JJ
— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) January 9, 2022

Round 1 – 1st overall pick: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson

No much to discuss here at this point. Barring something completely unforeseen, Trevor Lawrence will be drafted by the Jaguars with the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Lawrence has been widely touted as a generational and can’t miss prospect. Time will tell if those words ring true, for now the Jaguars and the fan base should be super pumped for their new quarterback.

Round 1 – 25th overall pick: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

A bit torn here on either Jaycee Horn or Caleb Farley, depending on who is available. If both are, I’d lean on Horn with this pick. Horn fills a glaring hole on the defense especially at cornerback. The team needs an upgrade in this department and Horn provides just that and more.

Round 2 – 33rd overall pick: Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State

This is real deep OT class and the Jaguars need major help in this area. Cam Robinson and Jawaan Taylor have left much to be desired out on the field. Both had earned overall grades of 62.0 in 2020, yikes! Jalen Mayfield can help solidify one of the tackle spots for years to come.

Round 2 – 45th overall pick: Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State

Another position of great need for the Jaguars is tight end. Their current starting tight end is Chris Manhertz. Manhertz isn’t keeping the defenses up at night game planning for him. Enter in Pat Freiermuth. Freirmuth can create mismatches in coverage and has great hands. He has good sized and route running ability and can get after with his physical play in the secondary.

Round 3 – 65th overall pick: Richie Grant, Safety UCF

With their last pick in the top 100, the Jags will go with safety Richie Grant here. Grant is a ball hawk with great versatility. The safety position for the Jaguars was marred with injury and inconsistent play in 2020. Grant will help prove to be that anchor on the back-end for years to come.

Conclusion

The Jaguars have quite a few holes to fill in the 2021 NFL draft. Invigorating young talent is what the Jaguars need. Players that can come right in and make an impact. This where the front office of the Jaguars needs to make the picks count and hit home-runs. The best way to help a rookie quarterback is to surround him with as much talent as possible. I don’t care how much of a generational talent Lawrence might be, football is the ultimate team sport. It take everyone to do their job and to do it well.

After the number pick is announced that is when the Jaguars front office will truly go to work. We all just hope they have the proper game-plan in place and stick with it. The NFL draft has many twists and if caught off guard it can turn ugly real quick.

The New England Patriots have thus far dolled out $162.5 million by making splash signing, whilst it only cost Robert Kraft $172 million to buy the team back in 1994!

Nonetheless, I’d like to dive into a few free agents who can have pro-bowl caliber years with their new teams. I could’ve went a few different directions here but these names below are ones who can actually stand out and can make a difference. Let’s get started!

Top Free Agents

Corey Davis, New York Jets – Yes, I know I know what you are all thinking. Why in the world would Davis be considered a possible pro-bowler on a bad Jets team. The same team who can’t even name their starting quarterback as of the time of this article. However, the reason why I am choosing Davis to have a pro-bowl level year is a bit beyond the starting QB.

Davis comes to the Jets with being the clear no.1 receiver on the Jets. Jamison Crowder, the Jets leading pass catcher the past two seasons is a great out of the slot but he cannot be considered as true no.1 wide receiver. Denzel Mims had a decent rookie 2020 campaign after missing the first seven weeks with an injury. Mims can prove to be an elite WR at some point in his career however, he is still a bit of an unknown commodity with high potential as of now.

Now, enter in Davis. Coming off career highs in receiving yards (984), receptions (65), and TDs (5) Davis will be well suited to be the lead guy in NY. The Titans ran behind the monster Derrick Henry in a rush first offense primarily. With the Jets, Davis can be the beneficiary of a more balanced offensive attack. Look for Davis to enjoy success with the Jets regardless of who is behind center as Mike LaFleur’s west coast system suits his style of play.

Curtis Samuel, Washington Football Team – Curtis Samuel finally lived up that second-round draft pick billing. He posted career highs across the board in both receiving yards (851) and receptions (77) along with rushing yards (200) with the Carolina Panthers.

Samuel has found a new home with WFT. Much like the Jets, Washington has not announced their starting QB for the 2021 season. Nonetheless, Samuel is a multi-talented player who can excel in any team and scheme. He is just one of those players that no matter where he is, he can be impactful player on the team.

On a team loaded with talent like Terry McLaurin, Antonio Gibson, J.D Mckissic, Logan Thomas etc. Samuel can fit right and immediately contribute. McLaurin is the de-facto no.1 WR on the tea, however, Samuel will challenge Steve Sims Jr. for the WR2 spot and quite frankly overtake him come the start of the 2021 season.

Mike Davis, Atlanta Falcons – This is my favorite free-agent signing thus far for the entire off-season! How is the Mike Davis signing with Falcons gone so unnoticed? Davis while filling in for Christian McCaffrey in 2020 put up career numbers! Davis had high in rushing yards (642), rushing TDs (6), receptions (59) and receiving yards (373).

Davis signed a two-year deal with the Falcons and becomes the starter immediately in my opinion. Unless, of course the Falcons decide to draft a RB with the 4th overall pick in this year’s draft. Ito Smith is a nice change of pace backup but he is not someone who can handle a full season load like Davis. Davis showed us this past season how reliable of a weapon he has become. With Arthur Smith now the new head coach of the Falcons, look for more of a rush first offensive scheme, similar to what Smith had in Tennessee. Now, obviously Davis is no Derrick Henry but he can certainly be that all purpose, bruising back that the Falcons haven’t had in so long.

Wildcard:

Kenny Golladay, New York Giants – The reason why I don’t have Golladay higher in the top section of my article is simply due to volume. The Giants with the likes of Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, Evan Engram, Saquon Barkley etc. have many mouths to feed. Golladay will be contending with all of these guys and then some for targets. He will be an asset to the team, I just am not convinced he or anyone else on the Giants offense will be able to break themselves away from the pack.

Golladay’s ranking is not due to potential or lack of production. The 2020 season was cut short due to a hip injury but Golladay posted back to back 1,000 yard seasons prior to this. If he regains his 2018-19 form he can be significant contributor on a loaded Giants squad.

Where Could Tyrell Williams Land?

By: Sukhwant Singh

Intro

Tyrell Williams signed a four-year $44 million contract back in 2019 with then Oakland Raiders. He was supposed to be the next man up after the trade of Amari Cooper in 2018 and Jordy Nelson’s retirement in summer of 2019.

However, Williams never lived up to the contract with the Raiders. In 2019 he put up a 42/651/6 line. Not great numbers by any stretch. In September of 2020 he suffered a shoulder injury which effectively ended his season before it even began.

Moving on, Williams was released by the Las Vegas Raiders last month and now is a free agent. Williams can be an intriguing option for teams looking to add additional wide receiver depth. He can certainly fill that WR2-WR3 role well, however his days of be a WR1 might be over.

Let’s look at Williams’ numbers thus far throughout his career:

Total Games Started: 49

Total Receptions: 197

Total Yards: 3181

Total TDs: 23

Total Targets: 322

Not eye-popping numbers by any stretch but Williams is only 29 year old. He will be motivated after having missed the entire 2020 season. Teams might look to sign Williams to a one-year prove it type of a deal.

Below are some teams that can use his services and bolster their WR corps by adding Williams:

Baltimore Ravens – Cap Space: $18m

The Ravens could desperately use the likes of Williams in it’s offense. Willie Snead is a pending free agent, leaving behind the likes of Marquise Brown, Miles Boykin and Devin Duvernay as the current wide-outs rostered on the team.

Williams is bigger body than Snead and can be that go-getter of the ball that Lamar Jackson hasn’t really had in his career thus far. Williams would bolster that WR room and really give the offense a lift.

Indianapolis Colts – Cap Space: $43m

T.Y. Hilton and Zach Pascal are free agents, with the latter being a restricted free agent. I do think the Colts will like to have Hilton back but only at certain price. He is 32 years old and there isn’t much left in the tank. Pascal since he is a restricted FA has a better chance of coming back.

Williams, a younger/cheaper option than Hilton can certain gather attention from the Colts management. He can easily play second fiddle to Michael Pittman Jr and compete with Pascal with the no.2 wide-out slot. With Carson Wentz now re-joining Frank Reich this can be a good spot for Williams to showcase his talents.

In the 2017 season with both Nelson Agholor and Alshon Jeffery put an almost similar stat line with 57 plus catches and over 765 receiving yards each.

I certainly believe that if healthy Williams can match this production, if not exceed it.

Tennessee Titans – Cap Space: $1.6m

The Titans release Adam Humphries in late February and have Corey Davis set to this the FA market. Davis hasn’t really lived up to being the fifth overall pick taken in the 2017 draft. I do not see the Titans bringing him back. Davis finished the 2020 campaign with a 65/984/5 line.

Williams can be the Robin to A.J. Brown’s Batman. With Tannehill behind center and throwing for a career high 33 TDs in 2020, this is a spot that Williams can benefit greatly.

Most teams will have double coverage on Brown leaving Williams with single coverage most games. Williams can really shine in this role and put up good numbers. However, unlike the first two teams listed above the Titans will really need to work the cap to fit Williams in along with filling out the rest of their roster.

Wildcard Team:

Washington Football Team – Cap Space $38m

I list Washington as a wildcard team because right now there is some uncertainty at the QB situation. Alex Smith and WFT are expected to part ways.

The team re-signed Taylor Heinicke to a two-year deal but I’m not sure they are truly sold on him just yet. They have the 19th pick in this year’s draft along with eight total picks thus far. A move to secure another QB might be in the works.

Either way Williams can be a good fit along side Terry McLaurin. With ample cap space, WFT can easily afford Williams especially on a one-year prove it type deal.

Conclusion

Williams will find a home this off-season somewhere. He is a talented WR that for some reason has struggled the last couple of seasons. Be it injuries, offensive system, etc. he just hasn’t been able to repeat his 2016 season. Williams if in the right system and if able to stay healthy can have a good 2021 season.

Which NFL Team Could Trade For Zach Ertz?

By: Sukhwant Singh

Zach Ertz a few years back was a dominant TE. He was essentially what Travis Kelce is today.

However, with injuries and changes at QB, now comes a time where the Eagles need to move on from Ertz. With the trade of Carson Wentz last week it is now is only a matter of time of when the Eagles do ship out Ertz.

Zach Ertz turned 30 last November but a change of scenery might help fuel his motivation to return back to being one of the league’s top TEs. He still has the ability to be an important piece on a championship-contending team.

Below are the teams that I believe Ertz can be a great asset and help put them over the top. These are just destinations in which I believe the teams are close to winning currently as is. The salary cap and draft capital will ultimately drive these teams one way or the other to build their franchises.

By: Jack Kurzenknabe

Green Bay Packers

Current Starting TE: Robert Tonyan

Robert Tonyan was a nice revelation for the Packers this past season. Tonyan finished with line of 52/586/11 in sixteen regular season games.

He went 8/82/1 in the post-season in two games. The latter is where a guy like Ertz can be the difference.

Tonyan was pretty much a “no-show” in the playoffs especially against the Bucs hauling in four catches for just twenty-two yards.

Rodgers has never really had a TE with the talent level of Ertz. Granted Zach Ertz is not the Ertz of old but he still can be a difference-maker with other star talents around him.

With the likes of Davantae Adams, Aaron Jones and future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers this would be the ideal situation for both sides. Ertz can still when healthy work the underneath and over the middle routes effectively.

This is would be a boon for Rodgers to have that type of play-making and proven veteran leadership from Ertz both on and off the field.

The Packers currently have all their picks in the seven rounds and are expected to receive three compensatory picks. The Packers certainly have the draft capital to make play for Ertz. However, they are currently $-19.9m in cap space, Yikes!

Buffalo Bills

Current Starting TE: Dawson Knox

The Buffalo Bills were a surprise team this past season. The Bills accomplished a lot in terms of winning the AFC East, Winning a Playoff Game (won 2), and reaching the AFC title game. However, there was one aspect particularly on offense in which the Bills did not accomplish much and that was the TE position.

Dawson Knox was their starting TE and posted a line of 24/288/3 in twelve games played. Zach Ertz missed five games due to injury and still managed a 36/335/1 line. This was the lowest number of receptions Ertz had since 2014.

Having traded for Stefon Diggs last off-season which paid huge dividends, trading for Ertz will further boost the Bills’ odds of playing in the Superbowl next season. With Diggs working the perimeter/down field routes, Ertz can effectively work the inside/over the middle and give Josh Allen that much needed short yardage threat.

It will also make Josh Allen to not run as much and avoid big hits when he can just simply zip an underneath drag route to Ertz all game long. The Bills have seven picks in this year’s draft and currently have $-1.01m in cap space.

From a draft/finance capital standpoint, the Bills will have to do some serious maneuvering to land Ertz.

Arizona Cardinals

Current starting TE: Dan Arnold

The Cardinals started of the season with a 5-2 mark but then just went 3-6 the rest of the way. DeAndre Hopkins tied his career high with 115 receptions, Kyler Murray threw for over 3,900 yards with a 26/12 TD-INT ratio.

Drake and Edmonds rushed for a combined almost 1400 yards, yet the TE Dan Arnold managed a 31/438/4 line in sixteen games. Ertz played only eleven games and had 335 yards on 36 receptions.

With or without Larry Fitzgerald this team still has enough offensive power to compete. Zach Ertz can bring that veteran leadership to the offense and provide Kyler much like Josh Allen than underneath safety net to throw to.

Zach Ertz will provide a much needed boost to the TE position and be a valuable asset to a young team on and off the field. His presence and route running can make Kyler Murray even a better QB going forward.

The Cardinals have just five picks in this year’s draft and a total of $11.8m in current cap space.

WildCard Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers trying to trade for Zach Ertz depends on largely on what the team intends to do with Ben Roethlisberger. Currently the team is about $30m over the cap.

Big Ben would need to do a serious re-structuring of his contract for the team to even try and think about trading for Ertz. However, if things fall into place, getting Ertz will provide Big Ben with another weapon at his disposal to try and win another Superbowl.
