Brandon Aiyuk is one of the top receivers in the NFL and now he wants to get paid like one. It’s no secret that Aiyuk is not happy about his current contract situation. The 49ers star stopped following the team on Instagram and while that may not mean much it’s notable given the circumstances. The big question now is if Brandon Aiyuk is on the trade block and if so what would it take to get him?

Are the 49ers Exploring Trades for Aiyuk?

As of today, the 49ers front office is denying that they are exploring trades for Aiyuk. The key word is ‘as of today’ because this very much could change next week. With the 2024 NFL Draft coming next Thursday we could see San Francisco changing its stance and trading away their star receiver during the draft.

Embed from Getty Images

If they do entertain trades we can expect San Francisco to want a decent haul in return. This could include multiple draft picks in this year’s draft. Look no further than the Stefon Diggs trade for what to expect for Aiyuk.

The Bills shipped Diggs to Houston for a 2025 2nd-round pick, a 2025 5th-round pick and a 2024 6th-round pick. I believe a 2024 2nd-round pick and a 2025 mid-round pick could pique the 49ers interest. Especially if the 2nd round pick is high in that round.

Possible Brandon Aiyuk Landing Spots

If you look at the current betting odds for Aiyuk’s next team the Steelers are in the lead at +200. This makes sense as Pittsburgh is in need of more weapons after the departure of Diontae Johnson. The Steelers have the 20th pick in the first round and they could offer this for Aiyuk.

Another team to watch is the Washington Commanders. Washington is also in need of receivers and Aiyuk has ties to the new front office. Commanders GM Adam Peters drafted Aiyuk in 2020 and knows him well. Washington would then have to pay Aiyuk but they have plenty of cap space. The only hesitation I have to this scenario is the Commanders would have two high-paid receivers. Terry McLaurin has two more years left on his contract and has a cap hit of $24 million this year.

Then of course there is the Jayden Daniels connection. If you believe the rumors that the Commanders plan on drafting Daniels with the 2nd pick then pairing him with his former Arizona St. receiver makes sense. For the record, I do believe Daniels is the pick for Washington as outlined in my latest mock draft.

There will be plenty of chatter between now and the draft on Aiyuk’s future with the 49ers. If he is indeed traded I expect it to come next weekend.

The NFL offseason is approaching quickly and with that means change. This off-season could turn out to be one of the wackiest with the Chicago Bears having the keys to the kingdom in the 1st overall pick. This particular draft class is stronger than others and with the NFL being weaker than it has in past years, a bunch of teams see this as an opportunity to jump the gun and become a powerhouse.

A major team to watch not mentioned is the Carolina Panthers. With no first round pick do not be surprised to see them sell one of their major defensive players to grab some capital in the early rounds. With that being said, let’s take a look at some trades to make this next NFL season more exciting.

Brandon Aiyuk to Kansas City for Their 2024 First Rounder

This would be a blockbuster for lack of a better term. With KC’s lackluster wideout group not putting up much production and making an offense with the best quarterback in the league look lost in need of a spark, Aiyuk would certainly provide it. The compensation for the star studded wideout would give Kyle Shanahan all the flexibility in the world to potentially pick his next boy wonder if Purdy proves not to be the guy in the playoffs or fill up a tackle spot with Trent Williams being out the door soon.

The main reason Aiyuk would not stay a 49er would be his extension is extremely pricey leaving the 49ers with more than 45 million dollars invested in Aiyuk and Samuel. For KC, this would be unstoppable and Aiuyk would quickly raise the rankings of WR’s.

Saints CB Marshon Lattimore to Philadelphia for Their 2024 First

If you’re a fan of football this guy is not a stranger to you. He’s one of the best at his position and potentially could be available this off-season. After missing 7 games this season with a high ankle sprain Saints GM Mickey Loomis restructured Lattimore’s contract by giving him an option bonus instead of a signing bonus. This essentially gives the team less dead cap in case of a trade. With good corner depth and the assets to replace him who else better to deal the DB to than the Philadelphia Eagles.

GM’s Mickey Loomis and Howie Roseman are extremely familiar with each other making 2 trades in the last 3 years. Lattimore would quickly improve this abysmal secondary and make the Eagles contenders again.

Davante Adams to NYJ for the 72nd Overall Pick and Conditional 2025 5th

What a story this would be, Davante Adams to the New York Jets to reunite with his old pal Aaron Rodgers. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter the Jets are expected to pursue a trade for the star WR. The Jets have invested a wagon of draft picks into Rodgers and coming off what is known as one of the worst football injuries, an Achilles tear, they will make sure Rodgers has everything he needs to succeed.

Embed from Getty Images

On the flip side, the Raiders need as much capital as they can get after firing head coach Josh McDaniels and the Garrapolo experiment all but failing Adams most likely wants no part of Las Vegas. The only thing stopping this trade from happening is the wideout’s 44M dollar cap hit (would likely be restructured, but you get what you pay for.

Justin Fields to Atlanta for the 43rd Overall Pick

This is one of the biggest wild cards of the NFL off-season. The Justin Fields conversation. Do the Bears keep Fields and decide to pay him in the coming years? Do they draft a generational talent in Caleb Williams and ship Fields off for more capital? It is a debate you could talk about for hours on end, well in this case the bears decide to reset the clock and go with Williams. Fields likely would go for a mid second which the QB-needy falcons certainly are willing to give up for a guy like Fields.

Fields is now coming off his best statistical year completing 61% of his passes throwing 16 TD’s and 9 INT’s but rushing for 4 more TD’s and 657 more yards. The Falcons could certainly be real contenders with Fields, especially in such a bad NFC South making this trade a win-win for both teams.

1st Overall Pick to the Atlanta Falcons

This trade is between the same two teams as the trade above only Chicago makes the other decision. The Bears stick with Fields and get another huge haul for the first overall. The Falcons give up the 8th overall, 43rd overall, a 2025 first rounder and 2025 second rounder and DL Grady Jarrett. The Bears have made it known they want to beef up their d-line by trading for Montez Sweat earlier in the year.

Grady Jarrett is coming off an ACL tear but was a monster before that and I doubt that would change much. Chicago is in a tougher division with the Vikings looking to make a splash and the Dan Campbell led Lions looking unstoppable will want to draft and receive win now guys. For the Falcons they get their franchise guy in Caleb Williams almost mirroring what their division rival the Carolina Panthers did last year with Alabama QB Bryce Young.

Our fantasy football week 3 rankings are in and you can find our full rankings below. As with any week, these rankings will be updated all the way up to gametime as we account for injuries and inactive players. Before you check our rankings let’s first highlight some key injuries to monitor for week 3 of the NFL slate.

Brandon Aiyuk – Aiyuk has had a strong start to the season and is currently the WR8 in Half PPR scoring. He is unfortunately dealing with a shoulder injury that may keep him out of the Thursday night matchup against the New York Giants. If he is inactive Deebo Samuel will see a jump in our rankings.

Anthony Richardson – Richardson has also had a strong start to his rookie season but left the week 2 matchup early due to a concussion. He is currently in concussion protocol and reports this morning are he won’t be practicing Wednesday. If Richardson can’t go, Gardner Minshew will be in line to start on Sunday versus the Baltimore Ravens.

Saquon Barkley – (Update: Barkley is now officially OUT) Barkley picked up an ankle injury late in the New York Giants wild comeback victory on Sunday. As of now, the Giants aren’t ruling him out but I would be shocked if he played this week. He is still in our rankings but much lower than usual. We will update his ranking when we have more clarity on his status.

The once-powerful NFC West is a little uncertain looking at the rosters today. Multiple injuries to key players have made the division weaker. But it doesn’t mean that the division is lacking in fantasy sleepers. Here we look at which fantasy sleepers you should target in the NFC West.

Arizona Cardinals: TE Zach Ertz [ADP: 154.6]

When healthy, Zach Ertz was one of the best TEs in football last season. He was consistently getting double-digit FPs from his looks from Kyler Murray. From Week 11 onwards, he was out for the season due to injury. Now, Arizona will not have Kyler as he tore his ACL so Colt McCoy will take the helm. Without Hopkins, there will be more opportunities for the other receivers. If Ertz can bounce back, he can have a sneaky good year for whoever picks him.

Los Angeles Rams: RB Cam Akers [ADP: 85.8]

The Los Angeles Rams had a disastrous season with multiple injuries and inconsistency hurting the team. With the team in a half-rebuild, one of the people who can lead the team is Cam Akers. He will lead the team in the backfield and end the year strong. He ran for over 100 yards in his last three games and he hopes to build on it the next season. Look for Akers to have a strong year.

San Francisco 49ers: WR Brandon Aiyuk [ADP: 89.9]

Brandon Aiyuk is often forgotten when talking about San Francisco’s offense. He led the team in catches and receiving yards. With the 49ers having a strong offense every year, Aiyuk at this ADP is a steal. He has improved his numbers every year and reached over 1000 receiving yards in 2022. The only uncertainty is the 49ers QB as we still don’t know who will be the man in charge.

Seattle Seahawks: QB Geno Smith [ADP: 52.8]

Geno Smith had a bounce-back season for the ages as he led the Seahawks above all expectations. He threw for 4282 yards and 30 TDs as he brought the team to the playoffs. The Seahawks QB ended the year fifth among all QBs and 13th overall in fantasy football. Now, his ADP is 52.8 or a fourth-round pick. With another year in Seattle and the team drafting Jaxson Smith-Njigba, he looks prime for another great year.

Latest flex players to sell

By: Jake Rajala

Week 5 was quite intense and even chaotic, to say the least. There was also more clarity of ability from countless figures in fantasy football. With that said, I’m going to take a sharp, unique angle by untwining five flex players to move on from entering Week 6.

Terry McLaurin

Terry simply hasn’t been scary as of late. Terry McLaurin inked a hefty contract extension this past off-season, but he has only notched 326 receiving yards & a mere one touchdown grab (which is really disappointing) in 2022. McLaurin ranks 31st in the league and second on the team (behind Curtis Samuel) in targets at this moment. In dynasty leagues, his situation with Carson Wentz and his 1-4 squad shouldn’t also be deemed sexy.

Terry McLaurin said with a new QB that “there are growing pains ..”
But”a lot of it is on us. Can’t put it on having a new quarterback. We have to find a way to get it done.”
— John Keim (@john_keim) October 9, 2022

Michael Thomas

The injury-prone Michael Thomas can be a borderline 1,000+ yard WR, but I don’t love his ability to be an elite wideout with Chris Olave really climbing the ladder and his QB situation (with Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston) being a bit of a mess. Winston has only thrown four touchdowns to five interceptions & he’s missed each of the past two contests. It’s fair to elaborate that Thomas could be unreliable in chapters of this 2022 season, as he’s usually been MIA over the past two years.

Michael Thomas. Different animal. Same beast pic.twitter.com/INlu5RkTpo
— Gino ?????? (@WhoDat_Joness) September 11, 2022

David Montgomery

The Chicago Bears don’t have the most powerful offense led by Justin Fields. Although, they’ve witnessed star power from Khalil Herbert (328 rushing yds, 3 rushing TDs, and 5.8 YPC). Herbert’s rise to fame also means that Montgomery is more expendable. Montgomery has had a less-than-favorable 179 rushing yards (with nine catches for 100 yards). He’s also had injury issues already, too. It may be wise to ship out the Bears RB that hasn’t quite risen to become a Pro Bowl player.

Brandon Aiyuk

The San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk isn’t looking like he will catch up to the speed that Deebo Samuel yields with Jimmy G. Aiyuk is projected to have 806 yards and a mere three touchdowns by ESPN. He’s currently 50th in the league in targets. It may be worth shipping him away to a 49ers faithful, especially in a dynasty league.

#49ers Brandon Aiyuk COOKED Jalen Ramsey with this route ??? pic.twitter.com/CQpiSIUbLV
— Brad (@Graham_SFN) October 4, 2022

Robbie Anderson

Matt Rhule was axed from his squad and it also might be time to give up on Robbie Anderson, too. Anderson has five catches in the past three games & a whopping one touchdown on the season. It’s clear that the once 1,000+ yard WR in Carolina is a shell of himself right now.

WRs to trade away right now

By: Jake Rajala

Week 1 started with the Josh Allen show and it ended with fireworks from Geno Smith (which may sound like a bit of a surprise). There is a lot of chaos to unfold in the fantasy football realm — particularly at the WR position. With that said, I’m going to untwine a few faces at the wide receiver position that ought to be shipped away heading into Week 2.

Hunter Renfrow

I’m not sold on Hunter Renfrow, who made the Pro Bowl last season, in 2022. He only capped off three catches for 21 yards in his first contest. Davante Adams stole most of the magic in Week 1 (as he hauled in 10 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown). The Raiders still have the unearthly TE Darren Waller (who recorded 79 yards in Week 1). Trust me, Renfrow won’t be the next Julian Edelman in his offense that will face a lot of brutal AFC West competition moving forward.

Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller looking at their targets after one week with Davante Adams: pic.twitter.com/p2bO1uT4MW
— Justin (@Justin_14P) September 12, 2022

Brandon Aiyuk

The San Franciso 49ers were the biggest loser of Week 1 in my opinion. Brandon Aiyuk was a ghost on that same team. Aiyuk notched a couple of catches for 40 yds. I’m definitely iffy about QB Trey Lance. Aiyuk blatantly sits behind Deebo Samuel and George Kittle —- with an unstable QB situation. Aiyuk still has some glamour from many flashes in his first two seasons, so it would be wise to see if someone else feels that he has an incredible ceiling in 2022.

More Trey Lance to Brandon Aiyuk Please ??#49ers || #FTTB pic.twitter.com/K0mOFUVqKA
— OurSF49ers (@OurSf49ers) September 13, 2022

Kadarius Toney

I was a Kadarius Toney stan this off-season, but it looked like his controller was broken in Week 1. He had two catches for 23 yards. The worst part is that he only played 12% of the snaps in GMEN’s first contest. In the offense that runs through a healthy Saquon Barkley (18 carries, 164 rushing yards, and 1 TD), I’d be hesitant about relying on any significant impact from Toney. The former first-round pick also had a rocky rookie season – to say the least.

Honorable Mention:

Mecole Hardman

I didn’t love Mecole Hardman’s role heading into this season and he didn’t help his case by having three catches for 16 yards (with a touchdown) in Week 1. Hardman did find the end-zone, but his lack of ability to excel with six targets in Week 1 scares me. Mahomes also threw 360 yards and 5 touchdowns, yet he didn’t need Hardman to shine by his side. I’d scout to see if some owners believe Hardman has more upside than he deserves in the Chiefs offense in 2022.

What is the 49ers wide receiver outlook?

By: Jake Rajala

The San Francisco 49ers have played hot and cold with their beloved wideout Deebo Samuel this off-season. At this point — it appears that Samuel and the 49ers can actually come to an agreement in the near future. David Bonilla of 49ers Web Zone believes that it’s “likely” that the two sides come to an agreement in the coming weeks.

Samuel, also known as Percey Harvin 2.0, ousted 1,405 yds, a career-high 18.2 YPC, and 8 rushing TDs last season. He was given first-team All-Pro honors and PFF slabbed him an 87.2 grade for his 2021 performance.

Kyle Shanahan will expect Samuel to be a major threat, but they need Aiyuk to take the next step and earn a Pro Bowl nod. Aiyuk ousted 826 yds and 5 TDs in his sophomore season, but he could shine in 2022 with growth and extra attention on Aiyuk. PFF gave Aiyuk a 74.4 grade for his 2021 outcome. The 49ers potent WR duo is largely the reason why PFF listed the 49ers as the sixth-best WR group in the NFL, as well.

SF will also expect Jauan Jennings to be more productive in his sophomore season than his rookie season: 24 receptions, 282 yds, and 5 TDs. The rookie Danny Gray could be an x-factor on the 49ers offense. Gray clocked a 4.33 40-yard dash at the combine. It’s safe to say that Trey Lance will be delighted in frequently utilizing the deep-speed from Gray. The 49ers also have Ray-Ray McCloud, who recorded 277 yds last season.

Besides the incredible WR duo in the Bay Area, the 49ers will clearly lean on TE George Kittle to continue to be a major weapon. Kittle nicely knocked out 910 yards and 6 TDs (then earned his third Pro Bowl berth) after missing eight games last season. It’s clear that John Lynch and Shanny have orchestrated a lethal WR group for most likely Trey Lance in 2022.

What is the 49ers biggest obstacle?

By: Jake Rajala

The Jimmy Garoppolo-led San Francisco 49ers clawed their way to a playoff berth last season. Kyle Shanahan will hand the keys to a different, younger QB in Trey Lance and aspire to return to the Super Bowl in Lance’s second NFL season. With that said, I’m going to simply outline the three biggest obstacles for the 49ers in 2022.

Jimmy G —> Deebo Samuel

Unbelievable throw. Unbelievable catch. #NFLTurningPoint #FTTB pic.twitter.com/8twDKmIvUJ
— Lydia (@limajuliettango) January 14, 2022

The growth of the “middle of the pack NFC teams”

The 49ers edged out the decimated New Orleans Saints for a playoff berth last season, but I really expect NO to be a wild-card team next season at least. Jameis Winston was 5-2 without his insane WR trio (Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry, and Chris Olave) and the Saints also added the Honey Badger to their defense.

Outside of Who Dat Nation, the NFC East could have three potential playoff teams next season. The Washington Commanders will a QB upgrade in Carson Wentz from Taylor Heinicke, while the Philadelphia Eagles offense will aim to make a lot of noise with A.J. Brown. The 49ers battle the Saints and Commanders this season, so it will be vital that Shanny finds a way to squash the fellow NFC squads.

Happy Birthday to one of the greatest to do it

No. 7 | @Mathieu_Era

pic.twitter.com/NtwxUmQNPi
— LSU Football (@LSUfootball) May 13, 2022

The health of star players

It will be a challenge for Lance to help the 49ers return to the playoffs in the gritty NFC in his first season. If the 49ers suffer from the injury bug, it will be a mountain for the complex 49ers team to earn a golden ticket to the NFC playoffs in 2022-2023.

George Kittle, Dee Ford, Deebo Samuel, and Nick Bosa have both missed a lot of games in their 49ers tenure. In particular, Kittle’s injury history is a noticeable concern (13 missed games over the past three seasons).

Gonna spend my whole week stressing about how the Bengals are gonna contain George Kittle pic.twitter.com/CffdBLoHBW
— Willie Lutz (@willie_lutz) December 7, 2021

The production from young offensive players

The 49ers desperately need Brandon Aiyuk and Trey Sermon to be superb contributors in 2022. Aiyuk was a modest sophomore WR, but he wasn’t able to have a coming-out party last season. Although, he can be a star WR2 with 1,000+ receiving yds with his new big-arm QB moving forward. I’m sure that the 49ers faithful would love to see the 2021 third-round pick Sermon (167 rushing yds in 2021) ascend into a quality RB behind Elijah Mitchell, as well. The 49ers could win competitive match-ups off the backs of x-factor profiles like Aiyuk and Sermon.

What is the dynasty outlook for Brandon Aiyuk?

By: Justin Frye

Brandon Aiyuk is a very controversial dynasty player at the moment. Everyone has seen flashes at the end of 2020 and 2021, but also the disappearing act he had in the first half of 2021. What is real with him, and what is going to happen on his own team this offseason? He’s a young stud WR in an offense with one of the most creative play-callers in the league, but let’s talk about the situation and highlight what could be.

From Week 7-15 (missed 2) in 2020, Brandon Aiyuk ranked 4th with 0.74 WOPR with a relatively efficient 0.92 RACR. He ranked 19th in fantasy points w/ 20.8 per game.

Amon-Ra St. Brown in Week 13-18 ranked 2nd behind Cooper Kupp in total fantasy points with the 6th-highest WOPR pic.twitter.com/U2Ih94rE2G
— Corbin (@corbin_young21) January 19, 2022

What does San Francisco do at QB in 2022?

I write the question out but I think if you play dynasty fantasy football, you already know the answer. With everything the 49ers gave up to go up in the draft for Trey Lance, he’s got to be the guy their next season. He understandably struggled some as a rookie, making the jump from FCS level competition straight to the NFL after barely playing his final year thanks to COVID.

Lance saw significant playing time in three games this season, totaling 70 pass attempts (23 per game) and only 40 completions (13 per game). Obviously, the hope is that those go up, as his final game in week 17 was significantly better than his two games earlier in the year. 13 of the 70 passes were intended for Aiyuk (18.6%), which is slightly higher than with Jimmy Garoppolo (16.1%).

What’s a Worst Case Scenario for Brandon Aiyuk?

For 2022, what does a bad year look like for Brandon Aiyuk? The key to his range of outcomes is ironing out his consistency issues. Weeks 1-8 of 2021, Aiyuk was the WR91 for fantasy, scoring only 4.2 half PPR points per game over that span. His pace over that span was 59 targets, 33 catches, 363 yards, and 3 touchdowns over a FULL SEASON.

If Lance only averages 25 or so pass attempts per game and Aiyuk is firmly third in the pecking order behind George Kittle and Deebo Samuel, it’ll be difficult for Aiyuk to be a consistent fantasy asset. Add in the rushing upside in the red zone for Lance and 49ers RBs, and that removes the touchdown upside to make up for low volume.

What’s a Best Case Scenario for Brandon Aiyuk?

Weeks 9-18 Aiyuk completely turned his season around, coming in as the WR13 in that span, scoring 11.3 half ppr fantasy points per game. His pace over that time was 104 targets, 73 catches, 1,165 yards, and 7 touchdowns over a full season. Which Aiyuk is closer to reality? That answer is huge for what to do with Aiyuk going forward.

If you took Lance’s 3 game sample and Aiyuk’s 18.6% target share and spread it over the season, Aiyuk would be looking at only 74 targets over the season, which feels like a floor for him. Lance showed real growth in his final start, and that held for Aiyuk’s performance, but even that would be over 6 pass attempts per game less then any team attempted in 2021.

Realistically, about 30 pass attempts is a very conservative 2022 projection, and that would lead to 95 targets at Aiyuk’s 18.6% target share. If that is a realistic lower-end projection, that WR13 over the second half feels fairly attainable for Aiyuk in 2022, especially if both young players show off some growth in the offseason.

Brandon Aiyuk and Trey Lance have the same offseason trainer. They'll get a lot of work together before the 2022 season, the #49ers receiver says.
— 49ers Webzone (@49erswebzone) January 31, 2022

While news like the tweet above gives me hope, I think 2022 will be another inconsistent roller coaster for Aiyuk as the third option in a run-heavy offense. Longer-term I still have high hopes for what Lance will become, and Aiyuk is a big part of his development as a downfield weapon. Don’t sell for less than the full top 15 dynasty WR value, but don’t expect 2022 to be the year Aiyuk finally finds consistency.

Here are your dynasty flex players to acquire

By: Keith James

The NFL is back and it is better than ever. The beauty of the NFL is that it is a week-to-week game. One week a team or a player looks great, the next week not so much. Such is life in the NFL. In a dynasty, fantasy owners can win by buying the dip. Human beings are emotional creatures. We don’t always follow logic. This is never more true than in fantasy football. People take this seriously and they get angry when their players don’t perform.

Use that anger to your advantage. Look for young players that didn’t perform where a fantasy manager may throw their hands up and say, I’m going to cut bait on this player. This is how fantasy managers can buy productive assets on the cheap.

This week I will give three players that can be used in the flex position that fantasy managers can buy cheaper than before the season.

*Brandon Aiyuk goes 60-748-5 receiving and 6-77-2 rushing in 12 games as a 22-year-old rookie and looks rather briliant while doing so*

Kyle Shanahan: pic.twitter.com/wWJq1yvFC3
— Ian Hartitz (@Ihartitz) September 15, 2021

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, 23 years old

Aiyuk was a mystery on Sunday. There were reports that he has been dealing with injuries all off-season but he was healed up enough to suit up against the lowly Lions on Sunday. Given the 49ers history of spreading the wealth, I cautioned fantasy owners on Aiyuk in week one. In what should have been a smash spot for the talented 2nd-year player, I was concerned that the Niners were going to spread the wealth and Aiyuk could be the odd man out solely based on his injury.

Something else seemed to be afoot with both Brando Aiyuk and Trey Sermon and there were reports both payers may have been in Kyle Shanahan’s doghouse for missing curfew. Who knows. Either way, Brandon Aiyuk watched as his fellow WR running mate, Deebo Samuel went bonkers against the Lions atrocious pass defense. Deebo had 9 grabs on 12 targets for 189 yards and a long 79-yard touchdown. Of course, he also had a terrible late-game fumble. Still, BA had to watch as his fellow receiver went crazy and Aiyuk was left with zero targets. That’s not good.

Aiyuk will likely still be seen by fantasy managers as a great young receiver. He had 15.4 fantasy points per game last year because Aiyuk is electric with the ball in his hands. After week one, however, some of the shine may have worn off. I threw out some offers for Aiyuk to fellow league mates and I recommend you do the same. He is still a player that can have a top 24 season this year and in only his second year, he can become a fantasy scoring machine if he stays healthy and grows up. The cost will likely be high but I would offer a first-round pick for Aiyuk and try to pry an exciting young player from your league mates hands on the back of a pathetic week one show.

Javonte Williams in the orange & blue ? pic.twitter.com/kp3lpuVARS
— Denver Broncos (@Broncos) June 14, 2021

Javonte Williams RB, 21 years old

Get Javonte as soon as you can! I would try to get Javonte this week before he goes crazy against the Jags and becomes all but untouchable. More than likely fantasy managers will not want to part with Javonte. Fantasy managers know that Melvin Gordon will likely be a PITA for Javonte the entire year. Managers are waiting for the year two ascension and may scoff at any Javonte offers but the fact remains Javonte played second fiddle to MG3 against the Giants. As much as I love Javonte’s talent, MG3 was by far the better back on Sunday.

Gordon had 101 yards on only 11 attempts (9.2 YPC) and looked just as explosive as he did in his Chargers days. Javonte did not look great. He looked tentative and was bottled up for only 45 yards on 14 carries. It was encouraging to see the snaps split evenly between the two backs (they both had a 50% snap share) but the 28-year-old Gordon looked explosive and the 21-year-old Williams looked plodding.

This is the best time to strike for Javonte. As I stated, his cost will not be cheap. Dynasty owners likely invested a lot in Javonte but like Aiyuk he may have lost his shine and if a fellow league mate is a contender that just so happens to have Williams, there may be a deal to be had for a more established RB and a pick. I would strike sooner rather than later however because up next, the Broncos take on the lowly Jags. The Jags of course were demolished by what many people think is the worst roster in the NFL in the Texans. With Denver more than likely taking a commanding lead in week two against Denver, Javonte may get enough run to put up gaudy numbers.

This may be the last chance to get what could be a top ten back in the NFL over the next three years. If a team has any interest in selling, I am trying to buy Javonte right now. His schedule at the end of the season could make patient Javonte owner league winners. With Gordon’s history of getting beat up and missing games, this could be Javonte’s backfield to own by week 10. I’d be willing to offer a player like Chris Carson and a first-round pick to land Javonte. As I say, he won’t be cheap but he will be worth whatever it takes to pry him from your league mates hands.

Courtland Sutton WR, 25 years old

Sutton had a bad game against the Giants. Lining up against James Bradberry is never easy and Jerry Jeudy was the star receiver in this game; until his injury. With Jeudy suffering a high ankle sprain and landing on IR, his entire season is likely toast. Remember Michael Thomas last year. Even if Jeudy comes back he will likely be hobbled the rest of the year. High ankle sprains are killers for playmakers. This is the time to strike on Courtland Sutton.

Courtland Sutton: pic.twitter.com/LBkCLnRrDO
— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) September 15, 2021

Sutton of course is working back from his own devastating injury. Sutton blew out his ACL early in the season last year and will likely take a few weeks for him to regain his confidence and explosion. Sutton was on his way to becoming one of the best young receivers in the game in 2020. Coming off of an impressive 2019 season, Sutton blew out his knee all too early. Injuries suck. Sutton owners are likely frustrated and are wondering if Sutton will ever come back. He only had 1 grab for 14 yards on 3 targets. Steady Teddy Bridgewater will spread the wealth and he found guys like Tim Patrick, Noah Fant, and Albert Okwuegbunam against the Giants. Combined those three players had 13 grabs on 15 targets for 117 yards and two touchdowns. It seemed as though everyone but Sutton had a good game for the Broncos.

Sutton may take some time but with Jeudy going down, Sutton has the opportunity to be a true alpha in Denver. Playing against the Jaguars this week, he could be in line for a monster game. I would throw out some offers for Sutton and see if there are any bites. Again, strike before the player goes off. Denver should manhandle the Jaguars fairly easily this week as 6 point favorites on the road. Both Williams (pricey) and Sutton (cheap) could be had for a discounted price but if they blow up against the Jaguars forget about it. Remember, human beings are emotional. Both good and bad. The strike will Sutton has put a bad taste in his fantasy managers mouth and your team could have a high-end WR2 this year and for years to come.
