Why the Bills could win in Week 1

By: Jake Rajala

The Buffalo Bills leveled up this off-season via signing Von Miller and drafting James Cook – after being edged by the Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill show in the recent AFC Divisional round clash. The Bills Mafia is ready to strive to be the next team to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Well, the Josh Allen-led Bills have their first test against the reigning Super Bowl Champions (Los Angeles Rams) in TWO DAYS!

So, I’m going to bring optimism and joy to the Bills fan base by untwining 5 reasons why the Bills could win in Week 1.

The boy Josh Allen posted this reel on IG and it has us ready to run through a brick wall? Thursday can’t come soon enough! pic.twitter.com/BM6tncpzbU
— Bussin' With The Boys (@BussinWTB) September 5, 2022

Edge rush

The Los Angeles Rams quietly lost a big piece of their team this off-season in Andrew Whitworth. The Thanos-like character wasn’t exactly a slouch last season – as he earned a whopping 86.1 grade by PFF. I anticipate that Miller will prey on feasting against the young LT Joe Noteboom – who garnered a 60.3 grade by PFF in 2020.

Allen’s rushing ability

I won’t lie – the LA Rams are pretty darn good at stopping the run and the pass. Although, it will be hard for the Rams to account for Allen’s ability to mow down opponents with his legs. The Bills QB1 registered 763 rushing yards a season ago. Perhaps he can use his power in the red-zone.

Ed Oliver

The Bills obviously need Miller to play lights out against his former team. Nonetheless, they need their former first-round pick Ed Oliver to take the next step in 2022. He may not be Aaron Donald, but he can thrive from his match-ups alongside Miller & Gregory Rousseau. He is undoubtedly the x-factor on the Bills defense for their monster Week 1 showdown.

Gabriel Davis

It’s time – Kevin Greene

After Gabriel Davis was a flat-out grim reaper (with four TD catches) against the KC Chiefs in the AFC Divisional round, he should really aim to be a consistent threat in 2022. The Bills moved on from Cole Beasley & Emmanual Sanders to make room for more Davis magic. Stefon Diggs might have a tough time mopping the floor against Jalen Ramsey, but I still forsee Davis being a nightmare against his opponent.

I, for one, cannot wait to see Gabriel Davis scoring some MF'ing touchdowns again pic.twitter.com/M9iTz6rhvO
— Davis Mattek (@DavisMattek) September 1, 2022

Dawson Knox

The Bills really need a couple of weapons not named Stefon Diggs to show out on Thursday. It would be easy to peg the polarizing rookie James Cook as a name to watch, but I believe the Bills will have a nice gameplan for Dawson Knox. He can help Allen stay efficient and be a nice check-down against the extremely dangerous Rams defense.

Overrated tight ends in dynasty fantasy football

By: Jake Rajala

The tight end position is gutsy, yet necessary in the game of football. The TE position is even more underrated in the game of dynasty fantasy football. With that stated, I’m going to highlight the TE position in football by untwining five overrated TE faces entering the 2022 season.

George Kittle

The San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle is still a talented profile, but he doesn’t have the sexiest outlook in my opinion. Kittle is coming off his worst season of productivity and he has an uncertain QB as his starter. If you feel iffy about Trey Lance (similar to me) then you should sell Kittle to someone that is head over heels for Lance.

I also expect Brandon Aiyuk to be a major factor in the 49ers offense moving forward.

T.J. Hockenson

It may seem blasphemous for a lot of fantasy die-hards and Iowa fans to pin Kittle and Hockenson on this list. Nonetheless, I don’t foresee a pot of gold on the other side of the rainbow for the Lions TE. The Lions will have more magic lined up for Jameson Williams, D.J. Chark, and D’Andre Swift. Of course, Jared Goff isn’t the most reliable cannon, as well. He is still catching a lot of buzz for his Pro Bowl nod in 2020 – which was a 723 yd and six TD outcome.

TJ HOCKENSON. FOR THE WIN. ON #NationalTightEndsDay! #OnePride #DETvsATL pic.twitter.com/IgPI0pOLGy
— NFL (@NFL) October 25, 2020

Dawson Knox

The Bills TE Dawson Knox had an impressive nine touchdown catches last season, but his new teammate, O.J. Howard, should slightly dock Knox’s popularity and attract a lot of attention from Josh Allen. According to ESPN stats and information, the Bills only ran 100 plays with two TEs last season – which was the lowest in the league. It would be an understatement to say the Bills will use a lot more two TE sets in the upcoming season and Howard will eat up a big part of the TE pie.

Kyle Pitts

The Atlanta Falcons made a very bold move in making Kyle Pitts the highest drafted TE in NFL history. Pitts had a modest rookie campaign – as hauled in 1,026 receiving yards. Although, I foresee Pitts taking a step back w/ the QB switch from Matt Ryan to Marcus Mariota. It’s also an uncertain long-term outlook for the Falcons QB group.

Kyle Pitts taking care of the #2 pick pic.twitter.com/QLFx982MsC
— Tre’Shon (@tre3shon) August 12, 2022

Noah Fant

It could be said that Seattle is where TEs go to die. The Seahawks have a shaky QB situation, to say the least. It should also be noted that the Seahawks QB1 will key in on DK Metcalf and then Tyler Lockett in the offense. Noah Fant has had modest performances (600+ yards in each season) in each of the past numerous seasons, but he shouldn’t climb the ladder with the Hawks.

Who is the most underrated tight end?

By: Jake Rajala

The tight end position in the NFL showcases greek god-like figures in Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Darren Waller. Well, I’m going to simply outline a few tight-end profiles that are under the radar and poised to become household names in the near future.

#Eagles rookie TE Dallas Goedert with his first touchdown pic.twitter.com/GE4MFvF8kw
— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) August 9, 2018

Dallas Goedert

I absolutely expect Dallas Goedert – who was on PFF’s all-underrated team in 2021 – to have a personal best season in 2022. Goedert had career-high marks in receptions (56) and yards (830) last season while missing two contests. He should certainly blossom with a wiser Jalen Hurts and an up-tick in targets after Zach Ertz is completely removed from the offense. AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith may be the most popular weapons in Nick Sirianni’s offense, but Goedert should excel with frequent key match-ups for his young QB.

David Njoku

The very explosive tight end in Cleveland, David Njoku, is primed to be a Pro Bowl-caliber TE moving forward. Per ESPN, he could be the number two target (after Amari Cooper) in 2022. Kevin Stefanski has really expressed that they want Njoku to be quite involved. With or without Deshaun Watson next season, I fully expect the Browns TE that recently inked a hefty contract extension (four-year $56.75 million deal) to be involved well moving forward.

David Njoku got ? pic.twitter.com/seKkDT5em0
— PFF CLE Browns (@PFF_Browns) November 7, 2021

Dawson Knox

I love the outlook for the Bills TE Dawson Knox (9 touchdowns in 2021) after Cole Beasley and Emmanual Sanders were pushed out of town. It should also be said that OJ Howard shouldn’t hurt Knox’s high-end role, per PFT. I really expect Knox, who missed a couple of games last season, to be the third TE on this list to make the Pro Bowl with a potential MVP-winning QB in Josh Allen next season.
