During his rookie campaign, Buffalo Bills running back James Cook did not get many chances to showcase his skills. For the most part, Cook was stuck behind Devin Singletary and was limited to 110 total touches. Despite the limited usage, Cook had some bright spots that show promise for the future. Cook finished last year with 97 fantasy points (Half PPR) and 3 total touchdowns. He is now in line to be the lead back in one of the league’s most prolific offenses. Let’s take a more detailed look at what to do if you’re a James Cook dynasty manager or looking to acquire him.

2022

When the Buffalo Bills drafted James Cook from Georgia there was hope that he could carve out a big role. The Bills had Devin Singletary but he wasn’t exactly a league winner. Unfortunately, it took Cook a while to adjust to the NFL and it showed in his debut. He fumbled the ball on his first ever NFL carry which was less than ideal. It wasn’t the start Cook was looking for but he responded in week 2 when rushed for 53 yards on 11 carries. He showed some of his elusiveness and breakaway speed on a 33-yard run late in the 4th quarter. It was the type of run that we hoped he build momentum on but that didn’t happen.

In the next 7 games, Cook didn’t make much noise. He all but disappeared from the Bills offensive gameplan until week 11 vs the Cleveland Browns. Cook once again showed that if you give him touches he will produce. Against Cleveland, Cook had 86 yards rushing and averaged 7.8 yards per carry. His best game of the season came in a blowout win at the Chicago Bears. Cook had a season-high 99 yards rushing and a season-high 16.8 fantasy points. If you’re looking for a game to get excited about Cook, this was the one.

2023

James Cook will now get his chance to solidify his role as the Bills starting running back. This offseason, Devin Singletary signed on with the Houston Texans clearing the way for Cook. The Bills also brought in Damien Harris and Latavius Murray but they will likely compete for the backup role. Buffalo drafted Cook for a reason and they want to give him every chance to succeed. Cook has all the intangibles to be a star running back, including elite breakaway speed.

What is the current value of James Cook dynasty shares right now? Currently, his value is staying pretty steady on KeepTradeCut and he is currently listed as RB30. This is right in line with our dynasty trade value chart where we have him listed as RB27 with a trade value of 23.53. The potential for Cook in his second year in the Buffalo offense is too big to ignore. My advice at this time is to HOLD on Cook and watch how develops as the starting running back for the Bills.

Antonio Gibson took a step back in the Commanders offense last season. With rookie Brian Robinson Jr. taking touches away from him, Gibson had to settle for a backup type of role. Gibson was involved more in the passing game but never had a breakout type of moment. He finished the season with 142.9 fantasy points (Half PPR) and never was able to crack the top 10 in weekly finishes. Despite the down year, there is a buzz coming out of Washington for next season. With that said let’s take a closer look at what do if you’re a Antonio Gibson dynasty manager or interested in him.

2022

When the 2022 season started Antonio Gibson had the backfield to himself. Brian Robinson Jr. was recovering from 2 gunshot wounds to his leg and wouldn’t be available until week 5. Despite the majority of the touches, Gibson wasn’t able to produce much of anything in the running game. He was however able to offer some value in the passing game. In the season opener against Jaguars, Gibson had 7 receptions for 72 yards on 8 targets. Unfortunately, this was his highest output of the season as his targets dropped as the year went on.

As we’ve stated before Gibson, didn’t really offer many highlight reel plays throughout the 2022 season. His best play came in the week 7 win against the Green Bay Packers. Gibson caught a dart from Taylor Heinicke and toe tapped for the touchdown. This was Gibson once again showing off his receiving skills.

2023

As we now look ahead to the 2023-2024 NFL season there is some hope for Gibson. Eric Bieniemy’s offensive system in Washington will look to get Gibson more involved. It has been a talking point this offseason and it has caused Gibson’s value to steadily rise. How much more involved will Gibson be? We can only predict as it stands now and will have to wait and see heading into the Fall. One key factor to keep an eye on is if the Commanders sign Kareem Hunt. If that happens Gibson’s value will obviously take a hit.

What should be done with Anotonio Gibson dynasty shares going forward? Right now Gibson is a RB32 at KeepTradeCut, this has him higher than the likes of Dalvin Cook and AJ Dillon. The hype is building thanks to his potential in this new Commanders offense. My advice at this time is to SELL Antonio Gibson at this current value. His value may take a hit if Washington does indeed pull the trigger on Hunt.

Drake London had all the hype coming out of USC. He was drafted 8th overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2022 NFL Draft and was the first wide receiver selected. Even though the Falcons already had Kyle Pitts they were lacking a true star receiver. They pounced on London hoping he would be the answer. In terms of fantasy, his pre-draft ranking was #27 WR according to FantasyPros ECR. London ended up with 142.6 FP (Half PPR) and played in all 17 games. 2022

London had a strong debut game against the New Orleans Saints. He tallied 74 yards on 5 receptions. He also had 7 targets which shows the Falcons were game-planning to get him the ball. Although he didn’t score in his debut, London showed the NFL game was not too big for him. Next up the Falcons went on the road against Los Angeles Rams. London had another strong outing and this time hit paydirt for the first receiving touchdown of his career. He finished the game with 20.6 FP which was his highest output all season.

Drake London scored once again the following week against the Seattle Seahawks although he only had 3 receptions on the day. After the Seahawks game, London’s production plummeted. He went six games without a touchdown and this caused many fantasy owners to lose faith in him. Fortunately, London picked up momentum toward the end of the season. In his final game, he had 120 yards receiving which was the highest of the year.

2023

First off there are two things I love about Drake London going into next year. One is his durability as he played in all 17 games for the Falcons. The other is his target share. He was third in total targets (117) only behind Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. The problem is consistency at the quarterback position. Is Desmond Ridder the guy? Or could Taylor Heinicke take over the reins? Either way, the Falcons QB position has me worried about London going forward.

Drake London’s Dynasty Value

Where do I rank Drake London’s dynasty value for next season? I have him in the Hold category for now. There is a lot to like about his usage in the Falcons offense. Having said that, he only had 4 touchdowns on the year despite not missing any games. Let’s wait and see how the quarterback position shakes out this summer before we make any moves on London.

Jahan Dotson was somewhat of a wildcard going into last season. Dotson was receiving plenty of buzz inside the Washington Commanders camp. Outside of that most of the NFL world was focused on Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson in terms of 1st round wide receivers. As for pre-draft rankings, Dotson was #29 WR according to FantasyPros ECR and he ended up with 113.1 FP (Half PPR). Dotson missed 5 games due to a hamstring injury that hampered his production. Let’s take a closer look at Jahan Dotson dynasty shares going forward.

2022

Unlike some other rookies we have profiled here, Dotson wasted no time making his mark. In week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars he finished with 2 touchdowns including an impressive game-winner. On the day Dotson finished with 16.5 FP and 40 yards receiving. Dotson kept his touchdown streak going when the Commanders visited the Detroit Lions in week 2. He scored on a nasty juke move that made space for Carson Wentz to fit in a tight throw. One thing that sticks out right away with Dotson on film is his route-running ability. He is very shifty and often leaves defenders flat-footed.

In the week 4 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, Dotson flashed his route-running ability again scoring a touchdown in the corner of the endzone. Unfortunately not long after he went down with a hamstring injury that led to him missing some time.

In his return from the hamstring injury Dotson was eased back into the gameplan slowly. He put up minimal numbers in his first three games back. In week 13 against the New York Giants Dotson made his mark again. He caught a grab over the middle and used an impressive spin move on his way to the game-tying score.

2023

Going into next year there are some key questions to ask in terms of Dotson. The first of which is how well will he mesh with Sam Howell. If it’s any indication Dotson and Howell showed some chemistry in the final game of the year against the Cowboys. Despite limited targets and just 35 receptions on the year Dotson still finished with 7 touchdowns. He had an 18.9% TD rate according to PlayerProfiler which was good for 14th best in the league. Consistency at the quarterback position will be key for Dotson going forward.

Where do I rank Jahan Dotson’s dynasty value for next year? I am still high on Dotson’s ability and his production will only go up. The key is how well Dotson and Howell progress in new Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s system. Bieniemy coming in to run the Commanders offense is a huge x-factor. He will find creative ways to get Dotson more involved and increase his target share. For now, Dotson is a HOLD for me going into the 2023 NFL season.

Dameon Pierce had the fantasy world buzzing coming into the 2022-2023 NFL season. The rookie out of Florida was somewhat undervalued in terms of the NFL draft but many in the fantasy world saw his potential. He started rising steadily up mock drafts in early August and was a rookie preseason standout. His pre-draft ranking was #19 RB per FantasyPros ECR and he ended up totaling 151.4 FP in Half PPR leagues. Ultimately a late season ankle injury cut his season short but there was still plenty of highlights in the rookie’s first year. Let’s take a closer look at what to do with Dameon Pierce dynasty shares going forward.

2022

Dameon Pierce started his 2022 campaign slowly as he adjusted to the pro game. His first two games were quiet and he totaled 4.4 and 8.2 FP with zero touchdowns. In Week 3 things started to click for Pierce as he racked up 17.1 FP in a loss against the Chicago Bears. The following week against the Chargers was when Pierce really started to turn heads. He had his season high in FP with 22.9 as he rumbled for 131 yards and a touchdown. We always knew pierce had breakaway speed and it was on full display as he burst through for a 75 yard touchdown.

Unfortunately the Chargers game was the peak for Pierce in his 2022 campaign as he did not break 20 FP the rest of the way. His season was ultimately cut short due to his injury but he showed plenty of promise along the way. Pierce displayed toughness in his running style as he was 4th in the league breaking tackles with 27. This trait along with his speed make him a dangerous weapon moving forward.

2023

Coming into the 2023-2024 season there are still a bunch of unknowns for Pierce. A new coaching staff in Houston dampers some of the buzz that he racked up throughout the year. We just don’t know yet if the new coaching staff will A.) keep using him as the bellcow or B.) try to trade him for a RB that better fits their offensive style. If I’m the Texans I no doubt keep him as my #1 RB.

Dameon Pierce’s Dynasty Value

Where do I rank Dameon Pierce dynasty value going forward? Well I still have him as a top 20 RB on my board. The injury to end the year was somewhat concerning but he was a workforce for the Texans. I expect this new coaching regime will use Pierce more in the passing game to get him out in space and utilize his explosiveness. Going into next year he is a BUY for me.

Brandon Aiyuk is a very controversial dynasty player at the moment. Everyone has seen flashes at the end of 2020 and 2021, but also the disappearing act he had in the first half of 2021. What is real with him, and what is going to happen on his own team this offseason? He’s a young stud WR in an offense with one of the most creative play-callers in the league, but let’s talk about the situation and highlight what could be.

What does San Francisco do at QB in 2022?

I write the question out but I think if you play dynasty fantasy football, you already know the answer. With everything the 49ers gave up to go up in the draft for Trey Lance, he’s got to be the guy their next season. He understandably struggled some as a rookie, making the jump from FCS level competition straight to the NFL after barely playing his final year thanks to COVID.

Lance saw significant playing time in three games this season, totaling 70 pass attempts (23 per game) and only 40 completions (13 per game). Obviously, the hope is that those go up, as his final game in week 17 was significantly better than his two games earlier in the year. 13 of the 70 passes were intended for Aiyuk (18.6%), which is slightly higher than with Jimmy Garoppolo (16.1%).

What’s a Worst Case Scenario for Brandon Aiyuk?

For 2022, what does a bad year look like for Brandon Aiyuk? The key to his range of outcomes is ironing out his consistency issues. Weeks 1-8 of 2021, Aiyuk was the WR91 for fantasy, scoring only 4.2 half PPR points per game over that span. His pace over that span was 59 targets, 33 catches, 363 yards, and 3 touchdowns over a FULL SEASON.

If Lance only averages 25 or so pass attempts per game and Aiyuk is firmly third in the pecking order behind George Kittle and Deebo Samuel, it’ll be difficult for Aiyuk to be a consistent fantasy asset. Add in the rushing upside in the red zone for Lance and 49ers RBs, and that removes the touchdown upside to make up for low volume.

What’s a Best Case Scenario for Brandon Aiyuk?

Weeks 9-18 Aiyuk completely turned his season around, coming in as the WR13 in that span, scoring 11.3 half ppr fantasy points per game. His pace over that time was 104 targets, 73 catches, 1,165 yards, and 7 touchdowns over a full season. Which Aiyuk is closer to reality? That answer is huge for what to do with Aiyuk going forward.

If you took Lance’s 3 game sample and Aiyuk’s 18.6% target share and spread it over the season, Aiyuk would be looking at only 74 targets over the season, which feels like a floor for him. Lance showed real growth in his final start, and that held for Aiyuk’s performance, but even that would be over 6 pass attempts per game less then any team attempted in 2021.

Realistically, about 30 pass attempts is a very conservative 2022 projection, and that would lead to 95 targets at Aiyuk’s 18.6% target share. If that is a realistic lower-end projection, that WR13 over the second half feels fairly attainable for Aiyuk in 2022, especially if both young players show off some growth in the offseason.

While news like the tweet above gives me hope, I think 2022 will be another inconsistent roller coaster for Aiyuk as the third option in a run-heavy offense. Longer-term I still have high hopes for what Lance will become, and Aiyuk is a big part of his development as a downfield weapon. Don’t sell for less than the full top 15 dynasty WR value, but don’t expect 2022 to be the year Aiyuk finally finds consistency.

It is true fantasy football never ends, especially if you are playing Devy or Dynasty. One of the most critical positions in any fantasy football roster is the quarterback.

If you can hit on a steady quarterback, you are set for a while anyway. Let’s take a look at Tua Tagovailoa. No quarterback is coming into the 2021 season with more questions than Tagovailoa: First, he was outplayed by fellow rookie Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert.

Then there is the memory of his last game on the field, where he completed 35-of-58 passes for 361 yards, one touchdown, three interceptions, and only 28 rushing yards on six carries. Of course, is the ever-present speculation of a trade imminent, Tagovailoa to Houston Texans and Deshaun Watson to Miami. And, of course, the shadow of Ryan Fitzpatrick looms large.

If Tagovailoa stays in Miami, will they also bring back Fitzpatrick? Making the option of Tagovailoa being pulled from any game at any time a possibility. STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: http://ProFootballFocus.com has Tagovailoa ranked 30th in passing grade among passes with at least 200 dropbacks. Statistically speaking, he was the QB31 in fantasy points for 2020.

He finished with 11 touchdowns (29th) and five interceptions (three in one game). He ran the ball 36 times for 109 yards and had one fumble. He averaged 6.25 yards per attempt.

For the season, he had 1814 passing yards and 109 rushing yards. Tagovailoa started nine games. He played in 10.

Tagovailoa is 23 years old and will be in the second year of his rookie quarterback. Those who do not think that drafting a quarterback back-to-back is out of the question (Dolphins currently have the third pick in the draft) do not forget about the Arizona Cardinals drafting Kyler Murray the season after Josh Rosen. All I am saying is that it is a possibility.

Tagovailoa’s stats aren’t bad, remember it was his first year and the first time he legitimately been on the field since his injury. The problem is the aforementioned Burrow, Herbert, and not to mention the incoming rookie class.

There is also head coach Brian Flores propensity to pull his quarterback in-game for a better option. Even if Fitzpatrick does not return, there is always the possibility of the Dolphins picking up one of the veteran free agents available.

Free Agent Quarterbacks 2021 Jacoby Brissett, Andy Dalton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Cam Newton, Dak Prescott Philip Rivers Mitchell Trubisky, Jameis Winston

Any of those players could go to the Dolphins as a “back-up,” further devaluing Tagovailoa. BUY OR SELL There is that chance that Tagovailoa will have a bounce-back year in Miami if he stays and Fitzpatrick goes. But your dynasty fortunes should not be held hostage by “so you are saying there is a chance” theory of trades. If you can sell Tagovailoa, now is the time to strike. There is no reason that you want to buy Tagovailoa, even at a bargain-basement price.
