The Cleveland Browns bruising running back Nick Chubb has been consistently dominant in his career thus far. Chubb has registered at least 996 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns in each NFL season. Furthermore, he made three Pro Bowls in his first four seasons. The Browns star RB is also off to a superb start in 2022 — as he’s unleashed 228 rushing yards, 3 rushing TDs, and averaged a whopping 5.8 YPC. PFF has also given the Browns lead RB a potent 86.7 grade for his performance.

With that enunciated, there is an intriguing, grand question surrounding the Browns RB: Is Chubb a future Hall of Famer?

He undoubtedly needs to be a freak RB for at least four-five more seasons including one AP season if he wants to have a shot to land in Canton. The Browns star profile already has one more PB nod than The King (also known as Derrick Henry). Although, he doesn’t share the same top-end production as Henry, Adrian Peterson, or LaDainian Tomlinson.

Chubb could really shine if Kareem Hunt doesn’t stick around the team beyond 2022. I expect Hunt to move on from CLE and Chubb to be the face of the RB spot for a long time.

I anticipate that Chubb will be more efficient when opponents focus on Deshaun Watson (after he is coming off an 11-game suspension this season). It could be said that the Browns may have the best QB-RB duo in the back quarter of the 2022 season.

When it’s all said and done, I foresee Chubb being inducted into the Browns ring of honor. I don’t feel that he will have an unusually productive single-season performance at this stage in his career, but he could 4-5 more PB seasons and make a strong case to garner a gold jacket.

The talented, utterly scrappy Adam Thielen has been amazing since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2014. The former Minnesota State wideout unleashed an incredible 113 receptions, 1,373 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns in 2018. Furthermore, Thielen has been like fine wine in the late stage of his career by obtaining 14 touchdowns at the age of 30. A year later, he ousted 10 touchdowns in 13 contests. He will still aim to be a threat across the extremely authentic WR Justin Jefferson this season.

With that enunciated, there has been a fascinating, pivotal question surrounding the Viks WR: Is Thielen a future Hall of Famer?

Thielen has a story that may be as inspiring as Brandon Burlsworth (please watch the film “Greater”) while being a dominant player for many seasons in his career. It’s also undeniable that he’s a Vikings legend.

Although.

I don’t believe Thielen is on a path to making it into Canton. He has only punched two tickets to the Pro Bowl (although, he questionably failed to garner PB honors in two seasons with 10+ touchdowns). He hasn’t garnered any All-Pro nods in his journey & he hasn’t been overly lethal over a long span. In addition, Thielen hasn’t won a pivotal SB ring.

If Thielen can have a few more Pro Bowl nods & a Super Bowl ring, he deserves to be cast into football heaven. So, it’s clear that the Vikings WR1 needs a lot more success to garner a gold jacket. Everybody loves Thielen, but it won’t be easy for him to get a key to the Hall of Fame.

Clay Matthews, a player synonymous with the green and gold of Green Bay.

He spent nine of his 10 years in the league with the franchise and is a surety for the Packers’ Hall of Fame. But is he set for the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

Let’s take a look at whether Clay Matthews is a future Hall of Famer.

The Stats

In his NFL career, Matthews has recorded 519 tackles, 91.5 sacks 200 quarterback hits, 130 tackles for loss, as well as six career interceptions and 17 forced fumbles. He is also a six-time Pro Bowler, 1 time All Pro and a one-time Super Bowl champion.

The former Packers linebacker has not yet officially retired, which means that he would need to wait a little bit longer before the five-year mandatory waiting period begins.

Reasons For And Against His Inclusion

* Started just 9 games

Matthews has six Pro Bowl appearances and in 2010, as can be seen in the above table, only three players recorded more than the 13.5 sacks he posted that season. This is a campaign that ultimately led to his one and only ring.

In Matthews’ career, only twice did he finish inside the top ten for tackles for loss (2010 and 2014). However, that is as good as it got with only two more seasons with double-digit sacks. Despite the 11 in 2014, there were still eleven players who recorded more than him.

Despite being a linebacker, a position that is meant to excel in tackles, he never once finished in the top 100. In fact, four of the ten leaders for career combined tackles are either inside or outside linebackers. 

Even in the 2015 campaign, where he recorded his best ever ranking for combined tackles, only three of the top 20 totals that seasons did not come from linebackers.

Matthews cannot even blame a lack of gametime for poor stats, with only one season where he started less than 10 games.

On the other hand, Matthews did lead the Packers in quarterback pressures and came third in the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year voting as well as setting the Packers record for most sacks by a rookie in a season (10). He became the first Packers to record six sacks in their opening two games in 2010 as well as only being beaten by Troy Polamalu in the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards.

In the end, Matthews had a good career but certainly should not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

It is a different story for the Packers’ Hall of Fame. Matthews was part of the last team to win a Super Bowl, an integral cog also. He should be a no-brainer to receive such a honour.

Despite the lack of standouts from the above table, he has had an impact on the NFL in the aforementioned 2009 and 2010 seasons. It is some achievement to only have three players receive votes ahead of you across the 2009 and 2010 season for Defensive Player of the Year. However, it is questionable whether this is enough for Matthews to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Philadelphia Eagles behemoth defensive lineman Fletcher Cox has been one of the best defensive tackles over the past decade. The mammoth-like DT entered the league in 2012 and proved to be a wrecking ball immediately (5.5 sacks, 10 QB hits, 8 TFLs, and 1 FF). Cox really blossomed in 2014 – as he earned his first second-team All-Pro nod. The Eagles potent DL would garner second-team All-Pro on two more occasions (2015 and 2017) and first-team All-Pro in 2018. Of course, let’s not forget that Cox was also a world champion on February 4th of 2018. With that enunciated, there is an intriguing question surrounding the Eagles defender: Is Cox a future Hall of Famer?

I believe a fascinating comparison for Cox is none other than current NFL DT Ndamukong Suh – who is headed to Canton in my opinion. Here is a sharp look at Suh’s resume:

• 70.5 career sacks
• 130 TFLs
• 212 QB hits
• 590 combined tackles
• Three-time first-team All-Pro
• two-time second-team All-Pro
• Five-time Pro Bowl selection
• Super Bowl LV champion

It’s clear that Cox and Suh have very similar resumes, to say the least. Suh has garnered two more, first-team All-Pro honors than Cox, while Cox has one more second-team All-Pro nod than the former Buccaneers DT. I believe Suh’s resume is a bit more impressive to be fair. Both greek god-like DTs have obtained Super Bowl rings in their NFL journey.

At this moment, I do honestly believe that Cox is a future Hall of Famer (and he will also end up in the Eagles ring of honor). He has enjoyed plenty of top-tier seconds (even if they weren’t first-team AP nods) and he has a shiny Lombardi trophy in his closet. With that said, I foresee Cox having at least a couple of more Pro Bowl seasons & creating a stronger case to be a first-ballot HOFer.

The former Miami Dolphins pass rusher Cameron Wake was a pillar of dominance in his football journey. Wake was unusually talented at sacking opposing quarterbacks in 10 seasons as a Dolphin and then he played one season in Tennessee. The former CFL stud hasn’t technically retired, but it doesn’t appear he will return to competing in-between the white lines. Nonetheless, Wake ought to be remembered as a gifted edge rusher and one of the best-undrafted players of all time.

With that enunciated, the ultimate question is: Is Wake a future Hall of Famer? Well, I’m going to untwine the overall production of Wake and then compare his resume to a fascinating, relevant pass rusher that is Canton-bound.

Here is an in-depth look at the magic from Wake:

• 100.5 career sacks
• 224 QB hits
• Five-time Pro Bowl selection
• First-team All-Pro in 2012

This is how Wake stacks up to the Ravens mythical pass rusher Terrell Suggs — who is a HOF lock.

T-Sizzle

• 139 career sacks
• 200 QB hits
• Seven-time Pro Bowl selection
• DPOY winner in 2011
• First-team All-Pro in 2011
• Super Bowl LVI champion

Wake has similar pass-rushing production as Sizzle, but Suggs has the edge w/ a piece of defensive gold (aka a DPOY award) & a pivotal SB ring (which is clearly an utterly impressive combination). Suggs isn’t only a future Hall of Famer, but he should be a first-ballot HOFer.

I certainly don’t expect Wake to be a first-ballot HOF player, but will he eventually be cast into football heaven? I honestly don’t believe Wake is going to end up in the HOF. He’s authentic, inspiring, and he was a consistent wrecking ball. Nonetheless, he didn’t have enough top-end success or SB glory in his career. His production is very similar to Justin Houston — who recorded 102 sacks, four Pro Bowl nods, one All-Pro team, but failed to win a Super Bowl. I sadly don’t forsee either edge rusher wearing a gold jacket at the end of the tunnel.
