Reviewing the Jalen Reagor trade

By: Jake Rajala

The Philadelphia Eagles (finally) moved on from wide receiver Jalen Reagor – as they sent him to the Twin Cities. In return, Philly will get a 2023 seventh-round pick & a 2024 fourth-round pick (which may downgrade to a fifth-round pick if particular markers aren’t met). The former Eagles wideout had 396 yards and one touchdown in 11 contests in his rookie season. He ousted a 64 grade by PFF in his rookie campaign and a 56.3 grade in his sophomore season. It was safe to say that he didn’t take a step forward in his sophomore year (299 yds and 1 TD). With that said, I’m going to hand out grades for the Eagles and Vikings for their efforts in the Jalen Reagor trade.

Never forget when the Vikings draft room couldn’t believe the Eagles took Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson ? @brgridiron

Now the two WRs are on the same team

(via @Vikings)pic.twitter.com/KIDGFVdHHH
— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) August 31, 2022

Vikings grade: B

I love that the Vikings made Reagor join Justin Jefferson, who has drawn plenty of amusing comparisons to the former Eagle. I also really like the upside that the former Eagles playmaker carries. He is still 23 years old (which is nine years younger than Adam Thielen) and this will be the first time that he’s played with a QB that’s thrown over 4,000 passing yards and 30 touchdowns. He sits at WR4 looking behind the extremely gifted WR1 Jefferson, the savvy veteran in Thielen, and the underrated K.J. Osborn.

The Vikings haven’t won the NFC North since 2017 and it’s far and beyond clear that they are trying to gain every edge possible to reclaim the NFC North throne.

Eagles grade: B

The Eagles capitalized on the right opportunity to trade away Reagor, to say the least. He may have potential and he could very well be a potent WR3 or WR2 in this league. Nonetheless, he still sits behind a couple of freakish talented WRs in AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. He was even beaten out by Quez Watkins at WR3. Let’s not forget that Philly has an ascending, highly talented TE in Dallas Goedert (830 yds last season). Reagor was sadly out of the picture and he will be remembered as an “Eagles” bust.
