What is the Ravens wide receiver outlook in 2022?

By: Jake Rajala

The face of Madden 21, Lamar Jackson, had a down season (which brought out the Madden conspirators), but he will look to return to being one of the most electric signal-callers in the league. In the passing game, LJ will count on <s>Hollywood Brown</s> Rashod Bateman (515 receiving yds in 2021) to take the next step in his sophomore campaign. Jackson and Bateman recently connected on a 50-yard catch in mini-camp (as shown below).

Lamar Jackson’s prettiest throw of camp: a nearly 50-yard bomb to Rashod Bateman down the right sideline.

(via @Ravens) pic.twitter.com/kgp2f8Ooc2
— Jonas Shaffer (@jonas_shaffer) July 30, 2022

The Ravens will also expect splash plays from Devin Duvernay and James Proche at the WR position. Duvernay ousted 272 receiving yds and was named first-team as a PR in 2021. It may be wise for the Ravens to extend him in the next off-season. Proche garnered 202 receiving yds last season, but he could be seeking to have a bit more receiving yds in 2022.

It would honestly be an understatement to say the Ravens don’t have a scary WR group. PFF slotted the Ravens WR group as the 28th best WR unit in the league. It wouldn’t be a complete surprise if the Ravens inked one of the following FA wideouts: Will Fuller, T.Y. Hilton, OBJ, Cole Beasley, and Allen Hurns. The Ravens should absolutely look to target a WR early in the 2023 draft.

Nonetheless – let’s not forget that the Ravens still have a greek-god-like pass catcher in TE Mark Andrews. The Ravens TE obtained 107 receptions, 1,361 yds, and 9 TDs (which led him to get first-team All-Pro honors) last season. Andrews signed a four-year contract worth $56 million dollars with BAL last September. I surely expect Andrews (who has only missed three games in his career) to be at least a 1,000+ yd pass catcher in the Hollywood Brown-less offense next season.
