It came as no surprise last week when the Denver Broncos informed Russell Wilson that he would be released. The Wilson/Sean Payton combo lasted just one season and was rocky from the start. Now the Broncos will have to eat about $85 million to make Wilson go away.

Although Wilson failed in Denver he will still be attractive to QB needy teams. Wilson was serviceable last season for the Broncos and in the right situation, he could flourish. There have been plenty of rumors since his release on potential landing spots. Let’s focus on 3 teams and breakdown why each one would be a fit.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The obvious best overall fit for Wilson would be the Steelers. Pittsburgh has strong leadership in place with Mike Tomlin at the helm and they are in need of a quarterback. Current Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett has had his ups and downs in Pittsburgh but hasn’t really panned out. Picket seems better suited for a backup role and with Wilson on board he could learn from a vet.

When you look at the Steelers roster they have several strengths. They have young talented receivers led by George Pickens and a potential future star in the backfield in Jaylen Warren. They are always stout on defense which will be important for Wilson’s next team. In order for Wilson to thrive he will need to play more ball control on offense but there are times he takes risks. That’s why it’s important to have sold defense backing him. The Steelers will be able to provide that.

Minnesota Vikings

Another team that looks to be poised to enter the quarterback market is the Vikings. Kirk Cousins will most likely be on the move this offseason which will leave a massive hole on offense. Minnesota could plug that quickly by adding Wilson. This would also be an attractive destination for Wilson who would get to play with superstar Justin Jefferson.

The Vikings aren’t contenders yet but they have about $37 million in cap space and 9 picks in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. Wilson would also get to work with coach Kevin O’Connell who has proved he knows how to run an offense. If the Vikings don’t make a play for Wilson I could see them drafting a quarterback with the 11th pick.

Las Vegas Raiders

Finally, the Raiders are another potential team to watch in the Russell Wilson sweepstakes. Las Vegas will be looking to add to its quarterback room this offseason. With Antonio Pierce now the full-time coach there are several pieces already in place in Vegas.

Embed from Getty Images

The Raiders finished the 2023 strong winning 3 of their last 4. They also provide Wilson with a strong defense led by Maxx Crosby. On offense, they can provide Wilson with a star receiver in Davante Adams. They will however need to look to add to their running back room as Josh Jacobs is likely on the move.

Then there is the revenge factor. If Wilson joined the Raiders he could stay on the West Coast and more importantly, stay in the AFC West. This will allow him to face the Broncos twice a year which will be extra motivation for the jettisoned quarterback.

Regardless of where he ends up, Wilson will likely sign a contract for less than $10 million. This makes him an enticing option going forward.

Championship week is here for many fantasy football leagues and the pressure is on to finish the season on top. If you’ve made this far congratulations but now it’s time to finish the year as the champion. To do so you will need to set the most optimal lineup possible for week 17. We are here to help push your team across the finish line with our updated week 17 fantasy football rankings. Before you check out our rankings let’s first look at the biggest injuries we are monitoring this week.

Amari Cooper – All eyes are on Cooper after his dominating performance last week. For many Cooper single-handedly carried you to the championship game after putting up 265 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in week 16. Unfortunately, Cooper is now dealing with a heel injury that may keep him out of the Thursday night game vs. the Jets. We will know later today whether he is good to go or not.

Josh Jacobs – Jacobs missed last week with a quad injury and has not been present at practice this week. If he is out again this week Zamir White will be a popular option to start as the Raiders have a plus matchup against the Colts.

Trevor Lawrence – It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Lawrence who is now dealing with a shoulder injury. He was seen at practice on Thursday but in a limited fashion. If Lawrence can’t go this week you should downgrade the offensive threats on the Jaguars.

Week 15 in the NFL is an important week for fantasy football as many are starting playoffs this week. There will also be 3 games on Saturday this week so it’s important to lock in your lineups early. If you’re looking for the best fantasy matchups of the week look no further then Dallas vs. Buffalo (O/U 49) and Philadelphia vs. Seattle (O/U 47.5). There should be plenty of points put up in those games. Elsewhere let’s take a closer look at the key injuries in the NFL for week 15.

Josh Jacobs – Jacobs left last weeks contest with an apparent quad injury. So far details have been sparse on the severity of the injury going forward. We should know more about his injury later today when the Raiders practice. If Jacobs does miss time Zamir White would be next in line to handle the workload.

Justin Jefferson – It was a short-lived return for Jefferson in week 14. After missing 7 games with a hamstring injury Jefferson returned to action last week. Unfortunately, he suffered a chest injury that knocked him out of the game vs. the Raiders. Early reports are that Jefferson could play this week but be cautious in starting him.

Tyreek Hill – Hill went down with an ankle injury in the Monday night loss to the Titans. The good news was he was able to return but he looked to be laboring a bit in the second half. This situation will need to be monitored closely throughout the week.

The running back position has been a hot topic in the NFL recently. Saquon Barkley has voiced his displeasure at being franchise tagged and left the possibility of sitting out the 2023 season. Barkley and the Giants will likely work things out but what he is doing now is important for the future of the position. In all, 4 players who made our list of the best running backs of 2023 all have been tagged or have contract disputes.

This past offseason the top 3 running backs available were all franchise tagged. In addition, Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is also not happy about his current contract situation. If it wasn’t for a recent boost in incentives, Ekeler may have been traded. It’s important to point out these details as the real value of running backs has been debated in recent years. One thing you can’t debate is that the players below all play a critical role in their teams’ success. Let’s now look closer at the top 10 running backs in the NFL today.

Carr will open up the field again for Kamara and the running back should bounce back. Mixon is a true three-down back in one of the league’s best offenses. In 2023, he will have the backfield all to himself as Samaje Perine is now with the Broncos. You can expect another Pro Bowl caliber year from Mixon and plenty of opportunities to score.

2022 Stats: 1,255 all purpose yards | 9 total touchdowns

8. Tony Pollard

When the Dallas Cowboys released Ezekiel Elliott this offseason it signaled a changing of the guard. Pollard has all the tools of a modern NFL running back. He will now get the chance to showcase those skills for Dallas. The only concern with Pollard is durability. Can he handle the full-time workload?

7. Aaron Jones

That really hasn’t mattered as Jones has put up numbers regardless. Jones has always been a threat in the receiving game and in 2022 had 5 receiving touchdowns. Now with Aaron Rodgers out of the picture, Jones will be relied on more than ever.

6. Saquon Barkley

The aforementioned Saquon Barkley will be playing with a chip on his shoulder next season. For what it’s worth, the Giants should’ve franchise tagged Daniel Jones and paid Barkley his due. It’s now unlikely that the two sides will agree on a new deal before the start of the season. The off-the-field noise won’t slow down Barkley’s production in 2023.

2022 Stats: 1,650 all purpose yards | 10 total touchdowns

5. Nick Chubb

Since his rookie season, Nick Chubb has rushed for 1000+ yards each year he has been in the league. Chubb has always been an old school type of running back who can carry the heavy load. He had 302 rushing attempts last season and is showing no signs of slowing down.

2002 Stats: 1,764 all purpose yards | 13 total touchdowns

4. Derrick Henry

Like Chubb, Derrick Henry is a between the tackles type of runner with breakaway speed. There were rumors this offseason that the Titans might try and trade Henry. Those rumors turned out to be false as Henry looks poised for another big year. No matter who the quarterback is for the Titans, Henry will be the focal point of this offense for the foreseeable future.

2022 Stats: 1,936 all purpose yards | 13 total touchdowns

3. Austin Ekeler

Austin Ekeler is one of the most versatile running backs in the NFL today. Line him up anywhere on the field and Ekeler will deliver. As we mentioned before this is likely Ekeler’s last season for the Chargers due to the contract situation. If he hits free agency expect a big payday for Ekeler.

2022 Stats: 1,637 all purpose yards | 18 total touchdowns

2. Josh Jacobs

Despite being franchise tagged this offseason, Josh Jacobs has been business as usual. Jacobs is a true professional who lets his game speak for itself. In 2022, Jacobs led the league in rushing yards, all purpose yards, yards per game and total touches. Even with a change at quarterback for the Raiders you can expect the gameplan to be the same. Keep feeding Jacobs.

2022 Stats: 2,053 all purpose yards | 12 total touchdowns

1. Christian McCaffrey

When Christian McCaffrey was traded to the San Francisco 49ers this past season it was a bit surprising. Kyle Shanahan has always deployed a running back by committee offensive system. By bringing in McCaffrey he knew he would have to rely heavily on his new star. The trade paid off as the 49ers were just 1 game away from the Super Bowl despite questions at quarterback. Now with a full offseason under his belt, McCaffrey is set for a monster year in San Francisco.

With the NFL season reaching its conclusion, it’s now time for fans to look ahead to the offseason and the big free agent signings that are ahead. Some pretty big names could potentially be finding new locations for the start of the 2023 season. Others may find themselves in the same location, but with a heftier contract than before. If you thought the league’s offseason from last year was wild and crazy, you may just find that this year’s is even more so. These are the biggest free agent names on the market this offseason.

10. Jakobi Meyers

By many metrics, 2022 was Jakobi Meyers’s best season so far. Yes, he had more overall yardage in 2021, but he had a higher yardage per reception in ’22 and four additional receiving touchdowns despite playing in three less games. At 26, he’s also in the midst of an athletic prime that should last 3-4 more years.

OMG ? MAC JONES. JAKOBI MEYERS. @Patriots

?: #CINvsNE on CBS
?: Stream on NFL+ https://t.co/12iaSiFKaP pic.twitter.com/4dpAjOO4Rx
— NFL (@NFL) December 24, 2022

Meyers has improved in each of his NFL seasons with the New England Patriots and looks to make a solid free agent acquisition for somebody this offseason.

9. Jessie Bates III

Former second-team All-Pro free safety Jessie Bates III has had a solid tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals, having a career high four interceptions in 2022. He’s been a big player in the emergence of the Bengals as one of the better defensive units in the NFL over the last couple of seasons.

? PAY JESSIE BATES III ?pic.twitter.com/4jLL4dXAEO
— PFF CIN Bengals (@PFF_Bengals) January 22, 2022

It seems the Bengals’ focus will be on extending quarterback Joe Burrow this offseason and that probably means Bates winds up on a new team.

8. Jamel Dean

Jamel Dean may not be the greatest ballhawk to ever play the cornerback position, but he is a solid pass defender at his best. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beginning a new era post-Tom Brady, that probably means not resigning free agent pieces which would further complicate the team’s salary issues.

JAMEL DEAN pic.twitter.com/qCS814lkoI
— ?? (@DJBucsFan) September 18, 2022

Dean would make a solid addition to a team looking to strengthen their depth in the defensive secondary and, as a Super Bowl champion, would bring solid leadership to any locker room.

7. Lavonte David

He may now be 33 years old, but Lavonte David remains one of the better linebackers in the NFL. His entire career has been spent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but like with Jamel Dean, it’d be nearly impossible for the team to keep him this offseason. Somebody’s likely to get a excellent veteran addition to their roster.

Ideal start for Lavonte David ?

?: #NOvsTB on ESPN
?: Stream on NFL+ https://t.co/61o9pQEjou pic.twitter.com/YsqcPzszsl
— NFL (@NFL) December 6, 2022

David routinely puts up seasons with well over 100 tackles, including last season when he racked up a total of 124. He’ll surely be able to do that again in 2023.

6. Jordan Poyer

Will the Buffalo Bills bring back Jordan Poyer in 2023? They may not, and the veteran safety who will be 32 by season’s start, could get a decent short-term contract somewhere else. His best seasons have been had in recent years, which is the upside for this safety. The downside is that he spent much of 2022 dealing with injuries that limited his production.

Jordan Poyer snags the second @BuffaloBills INT of the night! #BillsMafia #Kickoff2022 @j_poyer21

?: #BUFvsLAR on NBC
?: Stream on NFL+ https://t.co/LlxLdqcZb3 pic.twitter.com/kJ6228dkhA
— NFL (@NFL) September 9, 2022

Poyer is one of the NFL’s best safeties and that means he’ll be a hot commodity this offseason regardless of the injuries he dealt with in ’22.

5. Javon Hargrave

One of the defensive anchors for the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles in 2022, Javon Hargrave had a career best 11 sacks. Because it appears the Eagles intend to resign C.J. Gardner-Johnson, is it likely that the defensive tackle ends up somewhere else for the 2023 season? Keep in mind, the Eagles have several other soon-to-be free agents to contend with.

Javon Hargrave strikes & maintains the heel line. Hargrave gets to the RB for the TFL! #stoptherun #flyeaglesfly #superbowl pic.twitter.com/yyjmSv2fNM
— DLineVids (@dlinevids1) February 13, 2023

Simply put, there’s no defense in the NFL who couldn’t use a player like Hargrave on their roster. He’s going to get paid by somebody and immediately improve their defense.

4. Derek Carr (Signed with the New Orleans Saints)

Derek Carr seems to be one of the current villains of the NFL, only more fitting having played for a franchise known for its villainy. But the Raiders are done with him. He’s always been pretty good, just not good enough to make a whole lot of noise across the league. Not that the Raiders ever did much to support his efforts (signing of Davante Adams excluded, naturally).

With Carr, it’ll be interesting to see what some team is willing to put around him. The New York Jets have been mentioned and that makes a lot of sense. The Jets are a good young team, and they would benefit immensely from the free agent quarterback.

3. Josh Jacobs (Signed franchise tag with the Las Vegas Raiders)

Remember when Zamir White was supposed to surpass and bench Josh Jacobs? What a laugh that turned out to be. The disrespected Jacobs only led the NFL in rushing yards, rushing yards per game, and yards from scrimmage in 2022. But the Raiders need a quarterback, so might the running back be found somewhere else in 2023?

An 86-yard sprint to secure an OT win.

The longest run of the 2022 season came from the rushing champ himself, @iAM_JoshJacobs ??

(via @NFL) pic.twitter.com/kwcAmIhgjt
— NFL on Prime Video (@NFLonPrime) February 16, 2023

Jacobs’s ascendance from average running to one of the league’s best happened seemingly overnight. Having just turned 25, somebody had better pay him now, because his ascendance may not be finished yet.

2. Lamar Jackson (Signed franchise tag with the Baltimore Ravens)

Lamar Jackson is a great football player. That said, he’s now missed a lot of playing time in each of the last two seasons and that’s an undeniable problem. His place among the NFL’s best quarterbacks isn’t in question, but his ability to stay on the field now is. What are the Baltimore Ravens going to do?

Lamar Jackson with the absolute sauce
pic.twitter.com/ECufTsEi5f
— Kevin Oestreicher (@koestreicher34) February 17, 2023

Jackson’s move to a different roster for 2023 would be the story of the offseason, but it may well happen. Talent and ability have never been an issue with the former MVP, but he needs to stay healthy.

1. Saquon Barkley (Signed franchise tag with the New York Giants)

The New York Giants went as far as Saquon Barkley took them in 2022 and the running back proved himself more than capable of coming back from past injury-plagued seasons. There are a few notable teams in the NFL who are a piece away from Super Bowl contention, and if the Giants don’t bring Barkley back, he could easily find his way to one of those teams.

Saquon Barkley had an incredible season rushing for 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns! #NFL #NFLPlayoffs #saquonbarkley #Giants #NewYorkGiants pic.twitter.com/tsh7YDRWmM
— Say No More Media (@SayNoMore_Media) February 10, 2023

The 26-year-old is reaching his athletic prime and now that any lingering questions about his durability seem to be put to rest, some team in the league is going to get one of the best running backs in the game.

Buy Josh Jacobs

By: Jake Rajala

The fantasy football landscape is heating up with the main entree of Week 5 kicking off tomorrow. There were more surprises, failures, & steady performances from fantasy profiles last week. In particular, there were fascinating RB performances in Week 4. With that said, I’m going to highlight the RB position by unveiling one elite RB to buy, two elite RBs to sell, and an elite RB to hold at this point. Let’s begin.

Josh Jacobs took some defenders with him into the end zone ? @iAM_JoshJacobs

?: #DENvsLV on CBS
?: Stream on NFL+ https://t.co/qvpR1tCMp1 pic.twitter.com/4QnfxbtomK
— NFL (@NFL) October 2, 2022

Buy: Josh Jacobs

It’s easy to hate Josh McDaniels, but it’s hard to not love the Week 4 effort by RB Josh Jacobs. The Raiders RB1 unleashed 144 rushing yards on 28 carries and 2 rushing TDs against the pitiful Denver Broncos. After not being able to oust 70+ rushing yards in each of his first three contests, he really yielded his will a week ago. Jacobs will have a favorable match-up in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs and in Week 7 against the Houston Texans (after a bye week in Week 6). Jacobs is slotted as the 12th-best RB by Fantasy Pros, but I believe he should continue to climb the ladder moving forward.

The Week 4 Angry Runs nominees:

? @haydenrhurst (@Bengals)
? @iAM_JoshJacobs (@Raiders)
? @JamesConner_ (@AZCardinals)

Who gets the scepter?@KyleBrandt, the floor is yours… pic.twitter.com/LK2pCL36de
— Good Morning Football (@gmfb) October 4, 2022

Sell: Joe Mixon

Steve Schwarz of FF Today nicely noted how Mixon is dragging his feet this season, largely because the Bengals OL is embarrassing up to this point. Mixon has only averaged 2.7 YPC on a whopping 82 attempts. The Bengals OL may have brought in new faces this off-season, but their continuity clearly isn’t working out. I don’t love Mixon or Burrow’s 2022 outlook — which may have hangover spelled all over it.

Most career RUSH YDS in Cincinnati #Bengals history:
1.

Sell: Leonard Fournette

Playoff Lenny was like a lightning bolt in Week 1 by ousting 127 rushing yards in Week 1. He then slid down the point of no return by registering 65 rushing yds in Week 2, 35 rushing yds in Week 3, and somehow -3 rushing yds in Week 4. Furthermore, rookie Rachaad White had 38% of the snaps last weekend. Fournette also doesn’t have the most glorious schedule moving forward (which includes the Steelers and the Rams in the near future).

POV: you bet the over Leonard Fournette rushing yards pic.twitter.com/LN8nMI4cFT
— FanDuel Sportsbook (@FDSportsbook) October 3, 2022

Hold: Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara should have the green light in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks, but it’s well noted that he hasn’t been an all-purpose machine. He has a mere five catches on the season & it’s worth mentioning that Jameis Winston has been MIA or a loose cannon (four touchdowns and five ints on the season). With that said, I do really anticipate Andy Dalton to continue to be effective. Dalton had a 108.6 passer rating against the Vikings last week — despite not having Michael Thomas and Kamara. He should be the worst-case scenario at QB moving forward.

Best landing spots for Kenyan Drake

By: Jake Rajala

The Las Vegas Raiders plan to release Kenyan Drake – according to ESPN. Drake’s 2021 campaign (543 all-purpose yards & 3 combined TDs) was honestly a regression from his 2020 season (1,092 all-purpose yards and 10 total TDs). Of course, the Raiders will still lean on their RB1 Josh Jacobs to mow down opponents. In addition to Jacobs, the Raiders also drafted Zamir White in the fourth round of the 2022 draft. It’s clear they feel confident enough in their RB room to cut ties with Drake. With that said, I’m going to untwine several potential landing spots for the talented, 28-year-old RB.

The #Raiders plan to release veteran RB Kenyan Drake, per source. pic.twitter.com/4qFTc9ogbX
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) August 22, 2022

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots lost their all-purpose RB James White this off-season & it would be wise for BB to ink the versatile, former Raiders RB. The mysterious head coach/GM inked Devante Parker & and it may be time to bring in another weapon. I trust that Drake can be an upgrade over White.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are always looking to improve their roster and of course: win the Super Bowl. The Brad bunch has the young Rachaad White and the bowling ball Leonard Fournette, but I believe Drake could still get involved as a pass-catching RB. He may be an x-factor in the Buccaneers pivotal showdowns against the New Orleans Saints.

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers have the ultra superb RB Christian McCaffrey. However, he has sort of had injury issues over the prior two seasons (as he’s missed 23 contests in the past two seasons combined). Drake could certainly be an excellent depth piece and even a pass-catching weapon on occasion. Matt Rhule and the Panthers can’t afford to take their foot off the pedal in the bloody NFC South.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are the third NFC South team on this list and they would absolutely be a great landing spot for Drake. The Saints carry Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram, but AK will almost certainly be suspended in 2023 and Ingram may be out the door next off-season, as well. It may be quite intuitive for the Saints to bring in Drake for not only his 2022 abilities but his potential value in 2023.

A suspension for #Saints RB Alvin Kamara is more likely to occur in 2023 rather than 2022, per multiple sources. pic.twitter.com/mjIsdF7zuU
— Michael Balko (@MichaelBalkoJr) August 12, 2022

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans have a Greek god-like RB in Derrick Henry, but he can’t be the only lone ranger in Nashville. Furthermore, the Titans don’t have the sexiest talent behind him at RB. The Titans RB2 Dontrell Hilliard has registered 447 rushing yards in his career. The arrival of Drake would bring a lot of music to Titans fans ears – especially after their offense lost A.J. Brown this off-season.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have quietly fallen behind in the Power Rankings this off-season. They have a ton of explosiveness, but I believe they could benefit from the addition of a talented all-around asset like Drake. The playoff gods may favor the Boys if the reigning NFC East champions bring in the former Cardinals RB.

Cincinnati Bengals

I would really love to see the Cincinnati Bengals ink the explosive free agent RB. Cincy has an unearthly WR trio and Joe Mixon, but they could benefit from an upgrade over Samaje Perine at RB2. The Bengals properly boosted their OL this off-season. I’d still love to see Cincy bring in another toy for their former LSU QB and his improved pass protection.

Who is the most overrated dynasty running back

By: Jake Rajala

The dynasty fantasy football world is firing off on all cylinders right now. With that said, I’m going to highlight the pivotal running back spot – as I untwine five overrated dynasty running backs.

Rashaad Penny

The explosive Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny hasn’t quite been a consistent force in the league. Unfortunately, he hasn’t played more than 10 games in each of the past three seasons. Furthermore, He will be splitting the rock with the former Michigan State Spartan Kenneth Walker moving forward. Walker has seen more action with Penny already nursing injuries in training camp.

This is the kind of runner everyone expected Rashad Penny to be when he left college.

This run is ? pic.twitter.com/iuNEULKjWz
— JDV Experience (@JDVexperience) December 12, 2021

Clyde Edwards-Helaire

I love the Kansas City Chiefs RB depth so much that I am not head over heels for RB1 Clyde Edwards-Helaire. I predict Jerick “Jet” McKinnon to be more involved and productive in the Chiefs offensive attack. Of course, Ronald Jones will be a game-changer in unique ways with the Patrick Mahomes-led offense. CEH, who still gets undeserved respect for the first-round badge and bunk bed with Mahomes, should be traded away.

Josh Jacobs

I don’t expect the Las Vegas Raiders to ship away Josh Jacobs, but I don’t believe he will elevate his game and ascend into the same caliber RB as Nick Chubb. Jacobs will share meat on the bone with the fresh rookie Zamir White. NFL.com analyst Lance Zeirlein dubbed White as a pivotal rookie for the Raiders. It’s also obvious that Davante Adams and a healthy Darren Waller will eat up a lot of attention in the Raiders passing game.

From Inside Training Camp: Would the #Raiders trade their best RB?
Alvin Kamara

It appears that Saints fans are happy that Alvin Kamara will not be punished by the league in 2022. However, the grim reaper will leave his mark on AK in the following season. Kamara is climbing up in age, in a loaded passing offense, and approaching a sure-fire suspension. Hence, It would be wise to find a lucrative offer to trade him away now.

James Robinson

The times are changing in the Jaguars back-field with a healthy Travis Etienne. The former Clemson RB missed the entire 2021 season, but he is back and ready to handle the load in Doug Pederson’s offense. Although, I don’t expect Etienne or Robinson to have the most stable success behind the Jags OL. I am less optimistic that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the veteran James Robinson. He is also still nursing an Achilles injury.

Why the Raiders won’t trade Josh Jacobs

By: Jake Rajala

The Las Vegas Raiders running Josh Jacobs has been a rumored trade candidate after having seven touches in the HOF game. The amped-up Josh McDaniels has clarified that they have no intentions of trading Jacobs. With that said, I’m going to untwine three reasons why McDaniels isn’t bluffing and why it would be sacrilege for LV to ship away Jacobs.

Divisional competition

The Raiders undoubtedly compete in the most sinful NFL division: AFC West. I already have pegged the Raiders as the worst team in the division that features the Greek God-like QB Patrick Mahomes, Super Bowl MVP signal-caller Russell Wilson, and the ascending, mega-arm Justin Herbert. It would be more difficult for the Raiders to thrive in their heavy-weight division if they also traded away a pivotal piece of their offense in Josh Jacobs. He ran for 1,065 yards and 12 TDs in 2020 & 872 yds and 9 TDs in 2021.

We might be seeing a lot of this from Justin Herbert in 2022. ?

(??: @chargers)pic.twitter.com/zKZNapYW0k
— theScore (@theScore) August 8, 2022

Potential

Jacobs hasn’t only been a productive ball-carrier, but he is still a young gun (as he turned 24 years old in February). He’s four years younger than the Incredible Hulk-like RB Derrick Henry and two years younger than the utterly imposing RB Nick Chubb. Jacobs can be a monster RB for the Raiders for many years to come. Davante Adams is also 29 years old, so it’s crucial that they have a pivotal play-maker for many years during the demise of Tae’s career.

Role

Jacobs is the thunder ball-carrier amid the Raiders RB group. He is the downhill RB that can break a defense down by a thousand cuts. Meanwhile, Kenyan Drake is the all-purpose RB that excels in space. Drake notched more receiving yds (291) than rushing yds (254 yds) in 2021. Zamir White has the make-up to be a talented RB, but he’s also an unproven rookie. It would be risky for McDaniels to pull the plug on the talented, young, bull-dozing RB at this point.

Latest dynasty outlook of Josh Jacobs

By: Jake Rajala

The Las Vegas Raiders have yielded an impressive offensive unit over the past few seasons. Derek Carr, Josh Jacobs, and Darren Waller have really been an impressive offensive trio over the past few seasons. The Raiders offense led out by LV’s new coach Josh McDaniels will become more explosive next season with the arrival of Derek Carr’s best friend Davante Adams, as well.

.@derekcarrqb & @tae15adams WENT OFF at Fresno State's Senior Day in 2013. pic.twitter.com/WUS6ObPvTp
— NFL Legacy (@NFLLegacy) March 25, 2022

It’s safe to say that Carr should have a very productive season with Tae, but I believe Jacob’s outlook is a bit mysterious in the Raiders breathtaking offense. Jacobs is also coming off his least productive season in rushing yards (872 yards).

It’s clear that Kenyan Drake’s presence put a slight dent in Jacob’s production last season. He had 63 carries, which is a big reason why the Raiders RB1 had a career-low 217 rushing attempts. Unfortunately, Jacobs wasn’t a threat with his YPC (4.0). Although, was very dangerous in space as a runner in 2021 and he’s been impossible to bring down since 2019. According to Pro Football Focus, he has 2,229 yards after contract (fifth in the league) and he’s forced 177 missed tackles (second in the league).

Josh Jacobs ??
pic.twitter.com/avL0RczBv6
— Footballism (@FootbaIIism) December 18, 2020

Jacobs also has 28 rushing touchdowns in the past three seasons combined. He’s a bruising force in the red zone and a chain-mover between the red zones.

I believe Jacobs has a terrific floor and he could really have a high ceiling with Tae in the Raiders offense. It will be impossible for defenses to load the box with the Adams, Waller, and Hunter Renfrow. Jacobs should be much more efficient and his YPC should be similar to his rookie season (4.8 in 13 games) with all of the Raiders weaponry surrounding Jacobs. McDaniels and his methodical offense will be more creative than Gruden for the Raiders offense in my opinion, too. I also still expect Jacobs to be more efficient with Drake in the backfield and the arrival of Brandon Bolden (who is replacing Jalen Richard).

?? Davante Adams
?? Darren Waller
?? Hunter Renfrow

Derek Carr's got a lot of weapons this season ? pic.twitter.com/7Y1rntPY0u
— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) March 17, 2022

I would absolutely trade for Jacobs right now. I believe he hasn’t peaked yet and we should really see him elevate in the Raiders new-look offense. Jacobs turned 24 in February and he should have many more seasons of high performance. Nick Chubb is 26 and arguably coming off his most productive season. Derrick Henry was 26 when he won Offensive Player of The Year. I expect the golden years of Jacobs to be in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
