One of the hottest topics after the Thursday night opener besides Kadarius Toney‘s drops (sorry Toney) was Jahmyr Gibbs. Gibbs looked explosive whenever he got the ball in his debut. The problem was he only touched it a total of 9 times. This type of usage was infuriating for Jahmyr Gibbs fantasy owners but the Lions gave us an indication that this would be the case.

Embed from Getty Images

Before the season started head coach Dan Campbell indicated that Gibbs would be eased into his role with the Lions. It’s a smart move on the Lions part so he doesn’t get too overwhelmed with the pro game. Fellow running back David Montgomery received a majority of the touches including a go-ahead rushing touchdown. While this was aggravating for Gibbs owners it’s important to be patient with him.

We all could see that Gibbs was the more explosive back and when you look at the stats, they back that up. Gibbs averaged 6.7 yards per touch including a game-high 18 yard run. In contrast, Montgomery averaged just 3.5 yards per touch and lacked explosiveness. We expected to see speed from Gibbs but he also had 6 broken tackles in the game.

Gibbs owners should stand pat as his usage will start to ramp up. It’s only a matter of time until he gets a majority of the touches. When that happens you can expect big-time results for your fantasy team.

Yesterday, we featured 3 wide receivers who are currently overvalued. Today, let’s go in the opposite direction and break down 3 wide receivers who are currently undervalued. These players offer late-round upside and are set to outperform their current projections. Since it’s still only June it’s important to monitor ADP (Average Draft Position) throughout the summer to see how these values change. With that said let’s take a closer look at 3 undervalued WRs.

The current ADP below is for Half PPR scoring.

Elijah Moore (Browns – WR) | ADP 114 | WR48

Elijah Moore was a disappointment last year after a promising rookie season. The former New York Jet only topped double-digit fantasy points once and faded completely from fantasy relevance. Moore showed flashes but failed to produce much of anything. He finished the season with only 1 receiving touchdown and 446 receiving yards.

This past season Moore was traded to the Cleveland Browns giving him a much needed change of scenery. Now with the spotlight off him, I expect Moore to bounce back to his rookie form. Quarterback Deshaun Watson is entering his second year with the Browns and should be more comfortable in this system. With the arrival of Moore, the Browns receiving core has the potential to make some noise. When it’s all said and done, I expect many will be kicking themselves for not taking a chance on Elijah Moore.

Kadarius Toney (Chiefs – WR) | ADP 86 | WR38

Don’t look too much into Kadarius Toney‘s 2022-23 campaign. Between injuries and falling out with the New York Giants, he wasn’t able to offer much value. Toney was traded to Kansas City Chiefs in October for a 3rd and 6th round pick. This was the best case scenario for him as he showcased what he could do during the Super Bowl.

Now fully healthy, Toney is set up for a breakout year with the Chiefs. While Travis Kelce will eat up the majority of the target share I expect Toney will be utilized often in this offense. Toney is a player whose stock is rising pretty quickly as you can see from the chart below. By the start of the season, I could see him getting into the WR30 range in which case he will no longer be undervalued.

Courtland Sutton (Broncos – WR) | ADP 90 | WR41

Like the other wide receivers on this list, Courtland Sutton had a tough 2022-23 season. Don’t blame him though, this was due in large part to an abysmal Denver Broncos offense. Even though the offense struggled, Sutton still managed to finish the year with 829 receiving yards. He also had a decent target share at 20.1%.

I expect the Broncos offense to improve significantly next season. New Head Coach Sean Payton is an offensive mastermind who will find ways to make this offense more explosive. Russel Wilson should also have a bounce-back year and this receiving core will benefit. Jerry Jeudy will always be a factor in taking targets away from Sutton but it won’t matter. Expect Sutton to finish with 1,000+ yards and 5+ touchdowns.

What is Moore’s dynasty outlook in 2023 and beyond?

Skyy Moore was the consensus rookie 1.08 in rookie drafts (single QB) coming into the year, ahead of a couple of players who’ve had more utility this year (rookie draft info per FantasyPros). He was a draft darling, balling out in the Group of Five Mid-American Conference. While Moore has yet to show that on the field, how should he be viewed from a long-term perspective? Let’s dive into what to do if you’re a Skyy Moore dynasty manager or an interested party looking to acquire him.

2022

Skyy Moore was the 13th WR taken in the 2022 NFL draft, but a combination of ability on the field with the ball and landing spot pushed him way up draft boards. I’ll be honest, I was guilty of it too, thinking him vs Chris Olave was a tough choice. Moore landed in Kansas City with the best QB in football and a questionable depth chart. So he should have had a big 2022, right?

While disappointing, I’m not as concerned about 2022 with Skyy Moore. It may be a bit of confirmation bias, but MAC to the NFL is a big jump. Most players going from a non-Power Five to the NFL will take adjustment, especially one who likely didn’t need to be perfect to get open. Heck, Davante Adams, now one of the great NFL WRs, took two full years to adjust before his year 3 breakout.

Skyy Moore is projected to be the first early declare Wide Receiver from Group of Five to be drafted by round 2 since 2014.

The last? Davante Adams of course.

Seems like a one for one comp is clearly in order.
— Jakob Sanderson (@JakobSanderson) April 4, 2022

I’m not worried about Skyy Moore. The Chiefs built an offense with a clear deep threat, a possession WR, a gadget player, and an elite TE. They then added an explosive player at the deadline. I think Moore can help at all these spots, as he’s a strong athlete, can get open short deep. We’ve seen in short spurts that Moore is the Chiefs fill-in for the possession short-area target.

While still learning this year, the Chiefs have tried to incorporate Moore more as the year went along, including multiple 6 target weeks as the underneath option. One of those weeks even resulted in a WR36 overall finish in half-PPR leagues. There’s also plenty of additional room for growth within that role, as Juju Smith-Schuster has hit 8 or more targets in half of his 16 games. While not elite numbers, he did finish as WR28 on the year and that role has room for growth with a more explosive player like Moore.

2023

Of the six WRs seeing playing time in Kansas City, only three remain under contract beyond the current season. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, and Skyy Moore. Juju Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, and Justin Watson are all free agents after the year ends. These players, while important, are hardly the most important players due for new deals. If you want someone smarter about the WR position to tell you, check out the video below.

Steve Smith has High Praises for Skyy Moore ? pic.twitter.com/U7qN0h163i
— ???™ ? (@TreKnowsBall) December 21, 2022

The Chiefs currently are slated to lose four of their five offensive tackles, including 2022 franchise player Orlando Brown. They project to have just $20M or so in cap space. They thought enough of Moore to pick him in the second round from a small school. I’m guessing he gets a shot in 2023 to prove he can ascend into a full-time role. The Chiefs need to allocate money towards the offensive line and extensions for some upcoming free agents.

Skyy Moore’s value

So what is the value of Skyy Moore dynasty shares? Not great. Since the preseason hype peaked his value as a top-30 WR on KeepTradeCut, the consensus view has fallen to just inside the top 60. At WR, not overall. Unless you’re a contender who needs help somewhere else he’s a hold for me, but I also understand the hesitancy. WRs who play as little as Moore has don’t typically hit in year 2.

Logical WR trade options for the Philadelphia Eagles

By: Jake Rajala

The Philadelphia Eagles have an Invincible (hi, Vince Papale) record 6-0. With that said, there is no reason that Philly should take their foot off the pedal in their stride to win a Lombardi trophy in 2022-2023. I believe they want to seek to add another face at WR for their up-and-coming QB Jalen Hurts. Hence, I’m going to untwine five potential WR trade options for the Philadelphia Eagles — as the November trade deadline mightily approaches (November 1st).

.@JalenHurts is a man on a mission ? pic.twitter.com/igFKTg3JCM
— NFL (@NFL) October 17, 2022

Trade for Russell Gage

The Eagles don’t have the sexiest WR3, Quez Watkins (6 catches, 88 yards, and 1 TD), so it may be wise for them to shop for another face at wideout. Russell Gage was favored to be a threat in Tampa Bay until Julio Jones ruined his party. I still believe that Gage has a potent ceiling & that he can dominate his match-ups from the WR3 spot.

Trade for Mecole Hardman

The speed-demon Mecole Hardman doesn’t quite fit in with Kansas City, but he could be a superb gift with Jalen Hurts. Hardman, who has clocked a 4.33 40-yard dash, is also 24 years old — which is a year younger than A.J. Brown. Hardman has 1,977 receiving yards and 14 TDs in his short career to this point.

Trade for Kadarius Toney

The underperforming Kadarius Toney is a popular pick to be shipped away from his squad. After Toney collected 420 yards in 10 games last season (which was honestly underperforming), Toney has only registered two catches this season. The GMEN and the Eagles compete in the same divison, so the Giants may not be overly open to traded him to the Eagles, however.

Trade for AJ Green

After the Arizona Cardinals brought in Robbie Anderson, it may be time for them to move on from the veteran WR AJ Green. The Bengals legend has only hauled in 10 catches for 56 yards this season, but it may be a better picture for him in the Eagles offensive attack.

Trade for K.J. Osborn

K.J. Osborn managed to unleash 655 yards and seven touchdowns in his sophomore campaign, but he’s taken a step back this season: 19 catches for 177 yards and 1 TD. Osborn could look to resurrect his career in the frigid NFC East.

WRs to trade away right now

By: Jake Rajala

Week 1 started with the Josh Allen show and it ended with fireworks from Geno Smith (which may sound like a bit of a surprise). There is a lot of chaos to unfold in the fantasy football realm — particularly at the WR position. With that said, I’m going to untwine a few faces at the wide receiver position that ought to be shipped away heading into Week 2.

Hunter Renfrow

I’m not sold on Hunter Renfrow, who made the Pro Bowl last season, in 2022. He only capped off three catches for 21 yards in his first contest. Davante Adams stole most of the magic in Week 1 (as he hauled in 10 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown). The Raiders still have the unearthly TE Darren Waller (who recorded 79 yards in Week 1). Trust me, Renfrow won’t be the next Julian Edelman in his offense that will face a lot of brutal AFC West competition moving forward.

Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller looking at their targets after one week with Davante Adams: pic.twitter.com/p2bO1uT4MW
— Justin (@Justin_14P) September 12, 2022

Brandon Aiyuk

The San Franciso 49ers were the biggest loser of Week 1 in my opinion. Brandon Aiyuk was a ghost on that same team. Aiyuk notched a couple of catches for 40 yds. I’m definitely iffy about QB Trey Lance. Aiyuk blatantly sits behind Deebo Samuel and George Kittle —- with an unstable QB situation. Aiyuk still has some glamour from many flashes in his first two seasons, so it would be wise to see if someone else feels that he has an incredible ceiling in 2022.

More Trey Lance to Brandon Aiyuk Please ??#49ers || #FTTB pic.twitter.com/K0mOFUVqKA
— OurSF49ers (@OurSf49ers) September 13, 2022

Kadarius Toney

I was a Kadarius Toney stan this off-season, but it looked like his controller was broken in Week 1. He had two catches for 23 yards. The worst part is that he only played 12% of the snaps in GMEN’s first contest. In the offense that runs through a healthy Saquon Barkley (18 carries, 164 rushing yards, and 1 TD), I’d be hesitant about relying on any significant impact from Toney. The former first-round pick also had a rocky rookie season – to say the least.

Honorable Mention:

Mecole Hardman

I didn’t love Mecole Hardman’s role heading into this season and he didn’t help his case by having three catches for 16 yards (with a touchdown) in Week 1. Hardman did find the end-zone, but his lack of ability to excel with six targets in Week 1 scares me. Mahomes also threw 360 yards and 5 touchdowns, yet he didn’t need Hardman to shine by his side. I’d scout to see if some owners believe Hardman has more upside than he deserves in the Chiefs offense in 2022.

Toney is a fantasy sleeper entering the 2022 season

By: Jake Rajala

The New York Giants are being patient with the utterly talented, slightly controversial Kadarius Toney. Toney registered 420 yards (don’t laugh) in 10 games last season. Nonetheless, the Giants first-round pick in 2021 is poised to break out in the Giants offense. The WR that is ranked as the 47th best WR by Fantasy Pros should be a Top 35 WR in my opinion. He will certainly benefit from other areas of the Giants offense improving. For example, the Giants OL has taken monster steps forward this off-season ”“ as they drafted Evan O’Neal and brought in Mark Glowinski and Jon Feliciano in free agency. The Giants pass protection (led by Andrew Thomas) allowed the 16th most sacks last season, but they should do a better job keeping Daniel Jones upright next season.

It’s becoming a everyday thing with Kadarius Toney? #TogetherBlue pic.twitter.com/RApvdh7Gzq
— Giants Today (@NYGToday) July 28, 2022

Of course, there isn’t any denying that Toney will be more dominant with experience. Per Big Blue Review, Toney stated, “I feel like I’m more confident, it’s just about all experience”. He elaborated, “Last year, I was just a rookie coming in kind of young and getting to learn everything. This year, second year, so I had experience on the field, had my ups and downs and I’m just here to be who I am”.

The Giants also moved on from Evan Engram (which may have brought music to the ears of countless Giants fans). Toney should garner more targets with the loss of the explosive (and butter-finger) Evan Engram, who has garnered 109 receptions over the past two seasons combined. The 2022 second-round pick Wan’Dale Robinson shouldn’t quite garner more targets than Toney in his rookie season. In fact, B/R has twice named Robinson a player that could disappoint in 2022. Maurice Moton of B/R recently stated, “Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney, and Darius Slayton all figure to be ahead of Slayton of Robinson on the depth chart at wide receiver. Furthermore, running back Saquon Barkley expects to take on a sizable role as a pass-catcher, per CBS Sports Josina Anderson.” Robinson could garner more hope in his sophomore season (as he’s behind Toney in-line).

The Giants rightfully and wholeheartedly retained the gifted second-year WR that has made splash plays in training camp thus far. I, Giants nation, and Spike Lee are ecstatic to see the damage that the second-year Toney is bound to unveil against opponents in a 17-game slate next season.

Kadarius Toney will shine in 2022

By: Jake Rajala

The New York Giants are more complex than the INTJ personality type and it’s unclear in which direction they will move next season. The new head coach & offensive guru Brian Daboll and a healthy Saquon Barkley can certainly benefit from breakout studs next season. With that said, I’m going to simply untwine three breakout candidates on the NY Giants.

From NFL Draft Kickoff: The #Giants didn't pick up QB Daniel Jones' option, which underscores one theme of their season — is Jones their franchise guy? pic.twitter.com/bsvudyItQV
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 29, 2022

Kadarius Toney

The polarizing, second-year WR Kadarius Toney should excel under Daboll in the Big Apple. Toney may be nursing an injury in OTAs, but Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com nicely points out how Toney was MIA at this portion of OTAs in the last off-season. Daboll will be happy to get Toney involved, as the Giants HC has a knack for making slot weapons very productive. The former Bills WR Cole Beasley was second-team All-Pro in 2020 and he also had 105+ targets in each of his three seasons in New York. All in all, Toney has underperformed given his gifted ability, and I expect a hungry in a better situation to explode in 2022.

Kavyon Thibodeaux

The Giants rookie pass rusher may be a very high draft pick, but there have been too many highly-anticipated rookie edge rushers that unveiled modest performances in their careers. I love Thibodeaux’s ceiling, but I am also a big fan of the Giants DC Don Martindale and his aggressive, creative approach to football. He should cook up plenty of exciting match-ups for the rook next to the versatile Leonard Williams.

Kayvon Thibodeaux is going to the Giants ? pic.twitter.com/4pPtZwsvCm
— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) April 29, 2022

Daniel Jones

It may feel like the worn-down Daniel Jones has been in the league for several seasons, but Jones is still riding on his rookie contract. Danny Dimes hasn’t quite lived up to his rookie season (24 passing TDs, including superb deep-throwing ability). I trust that Jones has the best opportunity in his career with the former Josh Allen coach, a highly motivated Barkley, and Evan Neal at RT. I believe he can throw around 30 passing touchdowns and make splash plays in the underrated offense.

What is the Giants biggest obstacle in 2022?

By; Jake Rajala

The New York Giants are a tough team to crack. The NYG could play spoilers in 2022 with a healthy Saquon Barkley, a wiser Daniel Jones, and a talented WR group, or they could continue to struggle to find consistency on offense for a variety of reasons. With that said, I’m going to aim to diagnose three of their biggest concerns in 2022.

From NFL Now: While the #Giants aren't expected to trade Saquon Barkley, CB James Bradberry could be had in a trade. Teams are expected to inquire about the former big ticket FA, who is in the last year of his deal. pic.twitter.com/EoRXfLWwyy
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 4, 2022

OL performance

The Giants talent at RB, WR, and QB strongly revolves around the consistent success of OL. The Giants don’t have the same offensive firepower as Cincy, as the Bengals were able to escape their lack of quality pass protection (until the last play of the SB). The Giants will ask a lot out of their rookie RT Evan Neal, who was once a favorite to be picked first overall. Mark Glowinski will likely be a new, above-average run blocker at RG for the GMEN, as well.

Alabama LT Evan Neal, #73. 6-7, 350 pounds, future NFL standout and destroyer of souls. pic.twitter.com/F8LcLyIloV
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 4, 2021

Kadarius Toney

The Giants appear to be keeping Kadarius Toney (who is recovering from minor knee surgery), but the Giants 2021 first-round pick will still need to steal the show in his sophomore season. The Giants lost Evan Engram and Toney really needs to be a quality WR2 option at the very least. If the Giants want to be a wild-card team and capitalize on the expected production from a healthy 25-year-old Barkley, they need to be Toney to be on par with the Dolphins second-year WR Jaylen Waddle.

Dallas is better than the Giants and should win this game on Sunday, but Kadarius Toney could be a problem. He toyed with the Saints a few times last week.pic.twitter.com/dSddMiGDLF
— Bobby Belt (@BobbyBeltTX) October 6, 2021

Giants pass rush

It will be near impossible for the Giants to be a force in the NFC without an above-average pass-rush. Thankfully, the Giants have Leonard Williams and a potential DROY candidate in Kavyon Thibodeaux. Per Sports Illustrated, the former Oregon Duck stands with Aidan Hutchinson as DROY favorites. If the Giants display a lethal pass-rushing duo with an offense featuring Jones as an “Alex Smith-like QB” and Barkley returning back from the dead, the Giants could have noticeable growth from their 4-13 record in 2021.

The Giants should keep Kadarius Toney right now

By: Jake Rajala

The New York Giants have reportedly been looking to trade away WR Kadarius Toney, but I believe they should reconsider pushing the electric WR out the door “at this moment”. Toney may have had a slightly disappointing rookie season in a lackluster Giants offense (39 receptions, 420 yds), but he displayed his potential in many moments last season. Here are a few examples of his gifted athletic ability against the mighty Saints defense in Week 4 last season.

A look at what Kadarius Toney can do with the ball in his hands. pic.twitter.com/5jpBsWpcai
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) April 22, 2022

It’s not a secret that 2022 is the last straw for Daniel Jones and Toney is a big part of their offense right now. If Toney can be a 1,000+ yd WR (at least), he would really jolt their offense. The offense has already lost TE/WR Evan Engram and the 29-year-old Sterling Shepard carries a modest ceiling at this point. Furthermore, it’s not certain if Saquon Barkley will return to 100% as an all-purpose threat.

Press Taylor: Evan Engram will create headaches for opposing defenses. https://t.co/XVOyVBZ2wH
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) April 18, 2022

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were patient with the Antonio Brown experiment and he was a big part of their 2020 Super Bowl season. Eventually, his off-field issues burnt a bridge with Tampa, but he was still critical for their success in a short window. The Giants should hold onto the overly dramatic Toney for at least the first several weeks of the 2021-2022 season. He can really be an x-factor for their offense, potentially unveil a career season in his sophomore year, and possibly drop troublesome antics.

I really believe it’s worth holding on to the “first-round pick in his first offseason” at this point. After all, his value isn’t special right now. The Giants could squeeze out his elusive ability in year two amid a critical season for the Giants HC-QB combo and potentially trade him for more value if he still doesn’t fit in the Big Apple.

Look, there aren’t many players let alone humans on this planet that can move like Kadarius Toney.

You don’t give up on this yet, another team who trust their coaches will turn him into a super star.

pic.twitter.com/8kjwCt0OVb
— Alex Wilson (@AlexWilsonESM) April 22, 2022

Giants passing offense a Top 10 unit?

By: Daniel Racz

Introduction

The New York Giants’ offense fell short of all expectations in 2020. After losing star running back Saquon Barkley, the Giants had to adapt. The front office signed Devonta Freeman and Alfred Morris to pair with Wayne Gallman. To the surprise of many, the Giants’ running game was more successful than their air attack. However, there are many reasons to expect the Giants passing game to take a step forward. A healthy Daniel Jones will be the key, but there are a few other pieces that will be crucial if the Giants want a top-ten passing offense. Ensuring that the Giants use weapons besides Kenny Golladay and Saquon Barkley may be the determining factor for Big Blue in 2021.

Schemed Up Touches For Kadarius Toney

The Giants’ questionably spent a first-round pick on Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney. Despite remaining at Florida for four years, Toney is a raw route runner. If the Giants want to add a new element to their offense, they will have to play to Toney’s strengths. Toney is a menace in the open field. His ability to break tackles and evade defenders in college was reminiscent of Alvin Kamara. If that skill translates to the NFL, the Giants can utilize Toney like the dynamic weapon that he is.

The best way to maximize the skill of open field specialists like Toney is through touches at or behind the line of scrimmage. Giving Toney touches like screens, drag routes and even pitches could give the Giants a weapon that few other teams in the league possess.

The Giants select Gators WR Kadarius Toney with the No. 20 pick in the #NFLDraft ? pic.twitter.com/VXQND9TAlL
— B/R Gridiron (@brgridiron) April 30, 2021

A Stable Offensive Line

The least talked about aspect of an offense when discussing their passing attack is their offensive line. The New York Giants’ were unable to run lots of successful deep passing plays in large part due to their inability to give Daniel Jones time to throw. Their offensive line ranked in the bottom five in almost every statistic. Jones did not have time to throw, and he got frazzled under pressure.

If the Giants can piece together a top twenty offensive line, it will open up new avenues for their passing attack. Deep targets to Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton can only be consistently successful if they are attempted from a clean pocket. The Giants hired Rob Sale to be their new offensive line coach, and he may be an X-Factor for the team in 2021.

Rob Sale
Shane Lemieux
Matt Peart

May just have become the 3 most important people in determining if the Giants can take a huge step up this year.
— The Entertainah (@TheEntertainah) May 1, 2021

A Healthy, Dynamic Evan Engram

Did Evan Engram make the pro bowl last year? Yes. Did that endear him to Giants fans? Not at all.

In 2020, Engram’s drop issues cost the Giants turnovers and an early-season matchup against the Eagles. It is worth noting that Evan Engram played the 2020 season with a lisfranc injury. Engram’s injury is similar to the injury that Marquise “Hollywood” Brown of the Ravens played through during his rookie year in 2019. In 2020, Brown returned more explosive. If Engram can come into the 2021 season and play as he did earlier in his career, the Giants will have another weapon on their hands. When at his best, Engram is a premier tight end with elite athleticism. If the Giants use Engram properly, they can have an above-average passing attack.

Evan Engram’s 75-yard TD reception was the longest ever by a Giants tight end ?@eazyengram | #TDTuesday pic.twitter.com/5fpGN4dr2f
— New York Giants (@Giants) September 24, 2019
