Quarterbacks

Joshua Dobbs – (46.0% Owned)

Josh Dobbs continued his incredible story with another victory this past Sunday. Dobbs is now 2-0 with the Vikings and looks to be getting Justin Jefferson back this week. He is now 7th in total fantasy points for quarterbacks (179.5) between his time in Arizona and now Minnesota. He also has a plus matchup this week when the Vikings take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday night. Quarterback needy teams should prioritize grabbing Dobbs.

Running Backs

Ty Chandler – (5.9% Owned)

2nd year running back Ty Chandler filled in admirably for the injured Alexander Mattison on Sunday. Mattison left the game due to a concussion and Chandler was able to rush for 45 yards in relief. There is a good chance that Mattison misses this week’s matchup vs. the Broncos which means Chandler would be the lead back. Chandler should be the main priority on waivers this week as he has the explosive ability to take it to the house on any play. Even when Mattison comes back I like the long-term prospects of Chandler.

Wide Receivers

Brandin Cooks – (43.6% Owned)

Cooks had a monster game against the New York Giants in week 10. He totaled 173 receiving yards on 10 targets including a touchdown. The Giants defense was blasted yet again by the Cowboys but this type of performance was encouraging for Cooks. Playing him will be a gamble due to his inconsistency but Cooks has boom potential in the right matchup.

Tight Ends

Pat Freiermuth – (36.3% Owned)

Freiermuth is scheduled to come off the IR this week in time for the Steelers clash vs. the Browns. Freiermuth didn’t exactly impress before going on IR but he was dealing with a hamstring injury that slowed him down. If he is now completely healthy Freirmuth is worth stashing as he has top-10 TE ability in his game. If you’re in need of a tight end he is worth a claim.

Quarterbacks

Start ‘Em

Brock Purdy (vs. NYG) – Purdy has yet to break the 20+ fantasy point mark but I see that changing on Thursday night. The visiting New York Giants are struggling defensively and just gave 28 points to a tanking Cardinals team. Even if Brandon Aiyuk doesn’t play Purdy should still be able to move the ball with ease. This one has all the makings of a blowout.

Sit ‘Em

Jordan Love (vs. NO) – Love has been impressive in his first two starts for Green Bay but he is in for a tough afternoon against the Saints defense. Even at home, the Packers will find it hard to move the ball against New Orleans who have yet to give up 20 points in a game. Green Bay may also be missing Aaron Jones and Christian Watson who has yet to make his 2023 debut.

Running Backs

Start ‘Em

Brian Robinson Jr. (vs. Buf) – There are no longer questions about who the lead-back in Washington is. Robinson Jr. has solidified his role as the main man for the Commanders thus far. He has also looked impressive in the passing game which is driving up his value. Robinson Jr. has averaged 20 touches per game through the first 2 weeks and I expect him to get around that this week against Buffalo. Washington will look to be more balanced on offense to limit the pressures on Sam Howell.

Sit ‘Em

Najee Harris (@ LV) – Unfortunately It’s now time to sit Harris. Harris has been a huge disappointment, to say the least through the first 2 weeks of the season. He has yet to eclipse the 5-point mark in half-ppr and only has 19 total touches thus far. Jaylen Warren has been the more explosive back and I like his upside better against the weak Raiders run defense.

Wide Receivers

Start ‘Em

Deebo Samuel (vs. NYG) – Samuel looks to be in line for more targets as Brandon Aiyuk’s status is in doubt for Thursday night. Samuel has had 16 targets through the first 2 games but has yet to have a breakout performance. I could see that happening tonight against the Giants. Lock in Samuel as a must-start if Aiyuk is out.

Sit ‘Em

Chris Godwin (vs. Phi) – Godwin has a tough matchup this week at home versus the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. The Eagles secondary will be missing Avonte Maddox but don’t expect Godwin to benefit. It could be a tough day for Baker Mayfield and the Bucs offense as they deal with the Eagles stout front seven. I am fading Godwin this week until I see better production.

Tight Ends

Start ‘Em

Jake Ferguson (@ Ari) – Ferguson has a great matchup this week against the Arizona Cardinals as he will look to find the end zone in back-to-back weeks. Ferguson leads the league with 7 red zone targets which is encouraging going forward. Don’t expect gaudy numbers for Ferguson but I see him grabbing another touchdown on Sunday.

Sit ‘Em

Pat Freiermuth (@ LV) – Freiermuth has been one of the big disappointments in 2023 thus far. It’s hard to put the blame on him though as Kenny Pickett has struggled mightily. Even with a decent matchup ahead, it’s hard to trust Freiermuth to produce. Sit him until the Steelers passing game starts to show some life.

Start of the Week

Raheem Mostert (vs. Den) – There were questions before the season on how big of a role Mostert would get in the Miami Dolphins offense. It’s still early but Mostert has been lead-back for Miami and is showing no signs of slowing down. Mostert is averaging 15.5% touches per game and is currently the RB9 on the season. Coming to town are the Denver Broncos who were gashed by Brian Robinson last week. Robinson had big-time success in the screen-game and I expect Miami to do the same.

Baltimore Ravens: WR Odell Beckham (ADP 162.4)

Odell Beckham finally has a home and it is in Baltimore. The WR got a contract of up to $15M per year after missing the entire 2022 season recuperating from injury. Now, he gets his wish as he goes to Baltimore and play with Lamar Jackson who got the bag as well. Even if they are known to be a run-first offense, the increase in weapons will make Lamar throw the ball more. One of the lucky recipients will be OBJ, who has an ADP of 162.4. Hopefully, OBJ can quiet the haters and have a comeback season.

Cincinnati Bengals: TE Irv Smith (ADP 197)

The Bengals are starting another TE with the addition of Irv Smith from the Minnesota Vikings. Irv had battle injuries the past few years but was more healthy last season. He enters a situation where he’ll be the TE 1 and can catch passes from Joe Burrow. Hayden Hurst had a good season last year with Joe Burrow and Irv can do the same. Look for him to be a threat in the redzone.

Cleveland Browns: WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (ADP 154.9)

The addition of Deshaun Watson to the team will push Cleveland to throw more passes in their offense. WR 1 Amari Cooper will get his share but another WR to look out for is Donovan Peoples-Jones. He has grown immensely ever since his rookie season. Now, he feels due for a breakout season. He ended the season with 61 receptions for 839 yards and three TDs. Look for a career year next season and establish his presence in Cleveland.

Pittsburgh Steelers: TE Pat Freiermuth (ADP 89.9)

My favorite pickup from last year’s draft is due for another great season. Pat Freiermuth, the Steelers TE, looks to build on a great season for Pittsburgh. He ended the year in the top eight among all TEs and he provides value in the middle rounds. He caught 63 passes for 732 yards and two TDs. Look for more TDs next season as he tries to lead the Steelers’ offense.

1. Pat Freiermuth ”“ Pittsburgh Steelers

As a rookie for the Steelers last year, Freiermuth hauled in 60 receptions for 497 yards and seven touchdowns. He was clearly one of Pittsburgh’s primary endzone weapons and that always bodes well for fantasy football, even if that production can’t be replicated year to year. While Pittsburgh enters a new era at quarterback, having Freiermuth at tight end as an established “safety valve” will no doubt be good for whoever is under center. Freiermuth was TE13 overall with about nine points per game last season, but will no doubt improve in year two as tight end is notorious for being hard for rookies to adjust to. It won’t be long before Freiermuth is close to 800 yards and double-digit touchdowns every season. 

2. Isaiah Likely ”“ Baltimore Ravens 

He likely has had a huge preseason for the Baltimore Ravens. Throughout the summer the fourth-round pick out of Coastal Carolina has quickly emerged as a top target for Lamar Jackson. He also put up over 100 receiving yards in Baltimore’s second preseason game. Of course, Mark Andrews is firmly entrenched as TE1 in Baltimore but don’t let that deter you from any shares of Likely. Baltimore’s depth at the receiver position is extremely thin, so it’s very “Likely” that the Ravens run two tight end sets, especially with how the rookie has looked throughout the summer. Baltimore is sometimes okay with being a bit unconventional, and they will do whatever they need to get the best 11 players on the field. It likely could surprise this season. 

3. Greg Dulcich ”“ Denver Broncos 

Denver’s current “starter” at tight end, Albert Okwuegbunam has shown flashes but has been unable to consistently put it together on the field or stay healthy. This led to the Broncos selecting Dulcich out of UCLA in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Dulcich is an athletic tight end who can succeed at all three levels in the passing game and create yards after the catch as well. He does need some refinement to his game, which makes Denver a great landing spot for him as he will not be expected to start as a rookie. If things go according to plan, Dulcich will be one of the better young tight ends by 2023.

It will not be easy for the Pittsburgh Steelers to return to the playoffs in the Big Ben-less era. With that said, I’m going to simply untwine three under-the-radar profiles that could help the Steelers shine in a division that may not have Deshaun Watson next season.

Larry Ogunjobi

Larry Ogunjobi was one of the best-kept secrets with the Browns for four seasons and then he really blossomed with a new AFC North team in Cincinnati last season. Ogunjobi recorded career-high marks in sacks (7.5), TFLs (12), and QB hits (16). The Steelers DL may have the reigning DPOY winner and Pro Bowl DL Cameron Heyward, but Ogunjobi can certainly be the x-factor on defense for many years. The Steelers ranked first in sacks last season and the recent off-season signing of the former Browns third-round draft pick should help solidify the Steelers as a Top-3 team in sacks next season.

Mason Cole

The Steelers center Mason Cole is certainly the x-factor on the Steelers offensive line. He has already caught the attention of his quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Per Steelers Depot, Trubisky stated, “I didn’t even know if he was gonna be the center at the time because they were talking about guard or center, but he’s working in at center and has done a great job. Me and him have gotten really close from day one”. The plan is for Cole to start at center, but he does have the ability to excel at guard. Cole earned a modest 69.7 grade by PFF last season.

Pat Freiermuth

The Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth hauled in an impressive 7 touchdowns as a rookie. Freiermuth also had a 72.3 grade by PFF last season and PFF named him as a 2022 breakout candidate. The Steelers may have a talented WR trio, but it’s important to not lose sight of the Steelers second-year TE. It shouldn’t be a surprise if he has double-digit touchdowns and a Pro Bowl berth next season.
