Will Reggie Wayne make it into Canton?

By: Jake Rajala

The former AFC South grim reaper Reggie Wayne retired in the 2016 off-season. It would be an understatement to say Wayne was a freak of nature in his playing career – as he unveiled 14,345 receiving yards, 82 touchdowns, and 1,070 receptions in his football journey. He garnered six Pro Bowl selections, one first-team All-Pro selection, and two second-team All-Pro nods. With that enunciated, there has been an extremely vital question surrounding the Colts WR: Is Reggie Wayne a future Hall of Famer? Well, I’m going to compare his production to the likes of current HOF wideouts and conclude if he should feel optimistic about landing in Canton.

Ed Reed with a heartfelt message to his former Miami Hurricane teammate and "big brother" Reggie Wayne #PFHOF19 pic.twitter.com/gLSXKbygmx
— The Checkdown (@thecheckdown) August 4, 2019

Here is a sharp look at the resume of HOF WR Chris Carter.

13,899 career receiving yards

130 career receiving touchdowns

Seven Pro Bowl selections

Two-time First-team All-Pro honors

It’s clear that Carter and Wayne have very similar accomplishments. With that said, I’m going to also outline the career marks of Wayne’s former teammate and high-end WR Marvin Harrison.

14,580 career receiving yards

128 career receiving touchdowns

Eight Pro Bowl selections

Three-time All-Pro selection

Harrison was a bit sexier than Wayne & even Carter, but it should be noted that Harrison is pegged as a Top-5 WR of all time by many sources.

I’m going to also untwine the career production of HOF WR Steve Largent, who is ranked one spot ahead of Wayne on Gil Brandt’s Top 25 WR list of all time on NFL.com.

13,089 career receiving yards

100 career receiving touchdowns

Seven-time Pro Bowl selections

First-team All-Pro selection

Largent definitely displays similar career numbers as Wayne and they both only have one First-Team All-Pro selection. I really feel like Largent’s football tenure should prove a heap of hope for Wayne to not only make the HOF, but he should expect to be cast into football heaven soon. I surely expect Wayne to join his former Hurricane teammate Ed Reed and former Colts teammate Marvin Harrison in Canton in the near future.

Latest dynasty outlook of Stefon Diggs

By: Jake Rajala

The Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs unveiled the Minneapolis Miracle in Minnesota and then blossomed in Buffalo. Here is a closer look at how potent Diggs has been in a Bills uniform:

2020: 166 targets, 127 receptions, 1,535 yds, and 8 touchdowns (All-Pro)

2021: 164 targets, 103 receptions, 1,225 yds, and 10 touchdowns

Stefon Diggs dusts Marshon Lattimore for six.

(via @BuffaloBills)pic.twitter.com/dfvHIGc9Ok
— NFL on CBS ? (@NFLonCBS) November 26, 2021

Davante Adams is the only WR with more targets than Diggs over the past two seasons. It’s safe to say that the Diggs + Josh Allen combination has been from another planet. Well, should dynasty owners of Diggs expect a bright, long-term outlook?

Diggs recently signed a four-year, $96 million dollar contract extension with the Bills in April. It appears that Brandon Beane wants Diggs to be a monster piece of their Super Bowl aspirations. I have no doubt in my mind that Diggs is a Top-5 targeted WR in 2022, but his fountain of youth could crack after 2022. Diggs is 28 (29 in late November) and it is sure isn’t easy for WRs over 30 to oust elite seasons.

Stefon Diggs, Bills reach agreement on 4-year, $96M extensionhttps://t.co/xzuDPA94PY pic.twitter.com/O9zdSMhfT7
— Around The NFL (@AroundTheNFL) April 6, 2022

Diggs is a rare breed and really has jets on his feet. I believe a fascinating comparison for Diggs is Reggie Wayne. The former Colts legend was able to have Pro Bowl seasons at age 30, 31, and able to his only All-Pro season at age 32.

Diggs may not be a Randy Moss or Jerry Rice, but I believe the utterly electric WR shouldn’t slow down in the near future. I love Gabriel Davis’s outlook, but Diggs is noticeably more reliable. The Bills offense moved on from Cole Beasley and Emmanual Sanders this off-season. I fully expect Josh Allen to keep the gas on the WR with the perfect skillset for him in Diggs, grow with Davis, and make plays with Jamison Crowder.

JOSH ALLEN THROWS GABRIEL DAVIS' HIS 4TH TD TO GIVE THE BILLS THE LEAD WITH 17 SECONDS LEFT. WOW pic.twitter.com/A4MR1ZKu0Z
— Footballism (@FootbaIIism) January 24, 2022

It would be wise to buy Diggs with his 26-year-old QB that has infinite arm strength in my opinion. I believe the combination of some less superb patches of his previous season and his age should make an owner push him out the door for a creative offer.
