Week 3 was filled will crazy performances and upsets. Let’s break down who is trending up and who is trending down.

Stock Down

New York Jets – Zach Wilson is clearly not the answer at QB for the Jets. But if you ask Robert Saleh, he’s the best option they have. Is he really the best option? I think at this point anybody is better than Zach Wilson, to include Tom Brady or Carson Wentz.

Washington Commanders – Just when you thought the offense was on track and Eric Bieniemy was a genius, the Commander took three steps back. The biggest issue is their offensive line who can’t block anybody. In my opinion, there recipe for success is the run game first, solid D, and then everything else after that. The defense is overrated and after three games really haven’t done anything. We saw this coming though right? The Commanders could easily be 0-3 right if it weren’t for a few plays that went their way. We do have to remember that their QB, basically a rookie, has only started in four games.

Denver Broncos – 70 points, Yes 70 points given up against the Dolphins defense. Does a team even have that many possessions for that to happen? Well in this game the answer is yes. This is totally uncalled for and it’s disaster time in Denver.

Stock Up

Miami Dolphins – Can anybody beat the high flying Dolphins? Right now the answer is NO. But we’re only three games in so we shouldn’t overreact too much. We all know one injury and things can change very quickly. There shooting on all cylinders and will be tough to beat. I am looking forward to the matchup with the Bills.

Buffalo Bills – When the Bills lost to the Zach Wilson led Jets in week 1, some were worried. I was not as I know the creme always rises to the top. They played a lackluster Commanders team and had 19 sacks. On the other side of the ball, Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs appear to have left off where they were last year. Teams know where the ball is going, and still can’t stop that duo, similar to the Mahomes/Kelce connection in Kansas City.

Kansas City Chiefs – Maybe Taylor Swift in the suite helped the Chiefs and Travis Kelce this weekend. Whatever happened, they appear to be just fine. We should expect them to be where they should be at the end of the season.

Below you find our NFL game picks for week 3. There are some enticing matchups on tap so let’s break down who will win each one.

Last Weeks Record 11-4

Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns

Cleveland had the worse possible thing happen last week in losing their star RB in Nick Chubb. To replace him, they picked up Kareem Hunt who has familiarity with this offense. Look for the Titans defense to shut down Deshaun Watson and Hunt at home.

PREDICTION: Tennessee 24 Cleveland 17

Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions

Detroit will have no David Montgomery in this game, and are coming off a tough loss to the Seahawks. Look for them to bounce back in this game although Atlanta is playing well at 2-0. I think Detroit’s D will be too much for Atlanta in this game, as they will force a few turnovers.

PREDICTION: Detroit 27 Atlanta 23

New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers

These teams are pretty even with the Saints undefeated so far. Green Bay is a tough place to play and if they can get Aaron Jones going they’ll win this game. Jordan Love needs to minimize any mistakes and the defense needs to step up.

PREDICTION: Green Bay 24 Saints 20

Denver Broncos at Miami Dolphins

Denver is coming off a tough loss to the Commanders after being in control the first half. Russell Wilson has played well at times but is also still struggling. These two teams are trending in opposite directions and Miami looks awfully tough to beat. They have too many weapons and Tua Tagovailoa is playing exceptional. Denver falls to 0-3 after a dominant win by the Dolphins

PREDICTION: Dolphins 31 Broncos 17

Los Angeles Chargers at Minnesota Vikings

I don’t think the Vikings are going to the Super Bowl, but I also think there better than their record. This is why I see them bouncing back in this game. They can’t just rely on Justin Jefferson, they need to get the run game going which will help set up the pass.

PREDICTION: Vikings 30 Rams 23

New England Patriots at New York Jets

New England will bounce back in this game and get their first win on the road. Zach Wilson is clearly not the answer at QB and unless the Jets defense scores 21 points, they will not win this game.

PREDICTION: Patriots 23 Jets 13

Buffalo Bills at Washington Commanders

Washington is coming off an impressive come from behind road win against the Russell Wilson led Broncos. Their defense has struggled at time especially with giving up the big play. Washington will try and take away that big play threat against Buffalo and most likely force them to run and keep things in front of them. Eric Bieniemy has experience against the Bills which should help them with play calling. I’m gonna take Washington at home by a field goal.

PREDICTION: Washington 23 Bills 20

Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville bounces back this week against a young Texans team. Houston is rebuilding and trying to figure out how good CJ Stroud is.

PREDICTION: Jaguars 28 Texans 10

Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore is on a roll and Lamar Jackson appears to be playing at a high level two games in. Gus Edwards has stepped up in JK Dobbins’ absence and hasn’t skipped a beat. Baltimore’s D will be too much for the Colts and so the Ravens will remain undefeated.

PREDICTION: Ravens 23 Colts 10

Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks

Similar to the Texans/Jaguars game, Seattle is playing a young inexperienced QB who they will try to make life difficult for. Seattle is a tough place to play for an offense. Look for the Seahawks to create turnovers and hold the Panthers to around 10 points.

PREDICTION: Seattle 24 Panthers 10

Chicago Bears at Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs haven’t looked like themselves the last few weeks and stand at 1-1. Folks are wondering if there offense is so different after their OC left this year. I think they’ll start running on all cylinders in a few games, especially when you have Patrick Mahomes at QB.

PREDICTION: Chiefs 31 Bears 13

Dallas Cowboys at Arizona Cardinals

This game could be really, really bad for the Cards who will go up against the #1 ranked defense. Even with Trevon Diggs out for the season, the pass rush is way too good. Cards need to run the ball to have any success, but even that will be tough. The Cowboys win big in this one.

PREDICTION: Cowboys 38 Cards 7

Pittsburgh Steelers at Las Vegas Raiders

When will Najee Harris break out? Will their offense take a step foward this week? These are the questions I’m asking coming into week 3 with the Raiders playing against the Steelers. The Steelers D will keep them in this game the question will be can their offense score at least two TD’s. I like the Steelers in a close one.

PREDICTION: Steelers 24 Raiders 21

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Bucanneers

The Eagles are 2-0 but if you dig deeper they haven’t played their best football. Tampa is playing well with Baker Mayfield but he could struggle in this game. The Eagles D-line is too good and will make Baker’s life miserable. I’ll take Eagles in a close one.

PREDICTION: Eagles 30 Tampa 27

LA Rams at Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are struggling but as a team where too good to go to 0-3. Especially at home they should win this game. Pay attention to Joe Burrow‘s ankle as he’s battling through that. The Bengals need to get Ja’Marr Chase involved more and mix in more Joe Mixon.

PREDICTION: Bengals 28 Rams 24

Wow! What a week 1 of action packed football. Of course the biggest story was Aaron Rodgers going down on the 4th play of their drive. There was so much anticipation and expectations for the Jets, who will now struggle to win the division. It was a mistake for them not to look into another QB. I understand they need to have faith in Zach Wilson, but he’s done nothing on the field that proves he can take them to the promised land. This is the big reason they brought in a future Hall of Famer and Aaron Rodgers.

What do we take of the Browns who took care of business in Cincinnati, led by Deshaun Watson. I think they looked good, but will have a hard time competing with the Ravens and Bengals.

What else did we learn? We learned that the Packers could be for real, or is that an anomaly. I think it’s easy to overact to one game but they seemed to not skip a beat. We learned that the Cowboys D is very, very, good, led by the Penn State alum Micah Parsons. I struggle a little with this one deciding if the Cowboys D is that good or the Giants are that bad. I think it’s a combination of both. I do expect the Cowboys D to keep them in most games.

The Buffalo Bills struggled this weekend, but this is deja vu for Bills fans. Last year Allen had a similar game and did just fine the rest of the season. He might have to just dust some of the rust off.

Brock Purdy did purdy darn good this week and answered any critics he had entering year 2. I believe he is the real deal and with that tough D, they could be an NFC favorite along side the Philadelphia Eagles.

Finally, the Lions who continued the momentum from last year and beat the Chiefs in Arrowhead, something that is very hard to do. Granted, they didn’t have Chris Jones and Travis Kelce, they still played tough. Look for the Lions to compete all year led by Dan Campbell. What an exciting and unexpected first week! What does Week 2 have in store, grab your popcorn and let’s watch.

Anthony Richardson is rocketing up the board in several mock drafts that are doing the rounds.

This is after an impressive combine performance from Richardson, where he ran a 4.43 in the 40-yard dash, as well as a 40.5-inch vertical jump. Some people are even suggesting he has played himself into number one overall pick contention.

But is he worth the draft hype?

Is The NFL Combine A Fair Reflection?

The NFL Combine gives all 32 teams the chance to look at college prospects. However, it has many flaws and is often misleading. This is the case with quarterbacks more than any other position.

At the end of the day, quarterbacks are doing drills without any pressure put on them by NFL defenses and are throwing to open receivers that are not battling in coverage with a defensive back. Running a quick 40-yard dash does not impact their ability at throwing the ball and there is never a scenario in the league where they will need to replicate the vertical jump.

We have also seen many quarterbacks excel in the combine and struggle in the league and some great players to have played the position have struggled.

Tom Brady, struggled in the combine and as a result was taken 199th overall. He went on to become the greatest of all time. On the other hand, everyone was waxing lyrical about Zach Wilson after he impressed with some throws in his NFL combine performance. So far, in his two seasons as a pro, he has struggled immensely and his time as a starter appears to already be over.

Tim Tebow also impressed in his combine and despite becoming a media darling, helped by his fourth quarter heroics, the joys did not last long and he was soon a backup and then out of the league shortly after that. Moving away from the quarterback position and the quickest 40-yard dash in NFL Combine history is recorded by wide receiver John Ross.

Drafted in 2017, Ross has just 957 career receiving yards and 11 touchdowns to his name. Apart from one season with seven touchdowns, he has failed to have more than three in a season and his best season yardage total is 506.

In a 2014 article from Bleacher Report, they named the 10 most impressive NFL combine performances of all time. All selected in the first round, which shows the impact of the combine, only one of these players made the Hall of Fame (Deion Sanders) and four failed to earn a single Pro Bowl selection.

Some of these combine disappointments include wide receiver Matt Jones, who only lasted four seasons due to substance abuse issues. Vernon Gholston only lasted three years and started just five times, with zero career sacks. In ten NFL seasons, wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey had just 16 career receiving touchdowns, achieving more than 606 yards in only one season, failing to record any 1,000-yard campaign.

NFL front offices never seem to learn that the combine is not everything. After all, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was a fifth-round selection and fellow tight end Travis Kelce was taken by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round. Richardson may be the next victim of the combine hype.

Richardson’s College Inconsistencies

As a Florida Gators fan, no player has excited me more than Richardson, with raw athleticism and some brilliant individual highlight plays. However, his inconsistency passing the ball should not be ignored.

In his one full season as a starter in 2022, Richardson threw for 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions. To put this in comparison, Justin Herbert’s best total was 32 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2019 and three of his four college seasons had more touchdowns than Richardson did in any campaign. Joe Burrow threw for 60 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2019. Patrick Mahomes had 36 touchdowns in 2015 and 41 in 2016.

Richardson’s biggest comparison is Cam Newton or Josh Allen. In Newton’s one season as a starter in 2010 for Auburn, he had 30 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. Allen also had inconsistent play in his college days as well as early on in the NFL. His best season was 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, which should give Richardson confidence he can succeed in the league.

Richardson is more known for his feet, but his passing will need to improve if he wants to be a success at the professional level. This is why drafting him early would be a mistake unless you have someone in mind to start for a year or two to allow him to learn.

The Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Atlanta Falcons are all teams in the top 10 that will want a QB and start them straight away. However, the one anomaly is the Seattle Seahawks. Head coach Pete Carroll has come out and spoken of how the team is looking at the position. Richardson has also spoken of his positive meeting with the team.

Under Carroll, they enjoy a run-first offense. No quarterback in this year’s draft represents that more than Richardson. They may have given Geno Smith a three-year $75 million deal, but the long-time backup is 32 and has only enjoyed one successful season.

After all, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Steve Young Tom Brady all had at least one year to sit. Most of them had at least two or more years. This would align nicely with Richardson’s NFL development.

The Green Bay Packers have given Jordan Love three years to sit and look to now be ready to use him and see what he’s got. Seattle may use the same method for Richardson, who is in no way ready to start in Week One. If Smith struggles or gets injured, he can come in and showcase his raw talent. If he is on the bench for three straight years, he will learn from a seasoned pro in Smith and the team can remain competitive with Smith under center. It is a win for everyone involved.

Best trade destinations for Mason Rudolph

By: Jake Rajala

The Pittsburgh Steelers legendary head coach Mike Tomlin may wish to pardon his quarterback Mason Rudolph – who is honestly too talented to be a third-string QB. According to Pro Football Rumors, Rudolph is even drawing trade interest around the league. Of course, the confusing Mitchell Trubisky and the shiny Kenny Pickett stand above Rudolph at QB. Hence, it may be wise for Tomlin to acknowledge that he has two more potent signal-callers than Rudolph and capitalize off the current (and potentially last-ever value) of Rudolph by trading him away. With that said, I’m going to untwine five potential trade destinations for Rudolph.

From @NFLNetwork: Players to watch as we get closer to Tuesday, taking a look at #49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo, #Chiefs RB Ronald Jones, and #Steelers QB Mason Rudolph (who has drawn trade interest). pic.twitter.com/hsyKqC8LRt
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 26, 2022

New York Jets

The New York Jets need to finally admit that Joe Flacco shouldn’t be the plan B at QB for the second straight year. I would love to see the Jets bring in the 27-year-old QB in Pittsburgh. He may show more flashes with more reps in the Big Apple, especially when he is surrounded by the Jets very underrated weapons (such as Corey Davis, Garrett Wilson, and Elijah Mitchell). Plus, Rudolph may blossom and be the Jets starting QB in 2023 if Zach Wilson doesn’t be a consistent lethal starting QB.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I don’t love the Tampa Bay Buccaneers long-term outlook at the QB spot, to say the least. After the GOAT of all sports, also known as Tom Brady, officially retires, the Bucs will have a ton of talent on the roster and a question mark at QB1. It’s extremely pivotal that the reigning NFC South champions don’t waste the talent on their roster by sending an iffy starting QB onto the field. The Bucs should make an intuitive decision by acquiring Rudolph as soon as possible.

He's baaaack ? (via @Buccaneers) @TomBrady pic.twitter.com/KnONmM9y1Z
— NFL (@NFL) August 22, 2022

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have made sneaky, quality moves this off-season and I believe they should keep their foot on the pedal. The Lions have an un-sung QB in Jared Goff, but they should really upgrade the QB2 spot. After all, Goff missed two games last season and one contest the season prior. The Lions should contemplate bringing in the reindeer-like QB ahead of Week 1.

Kansas City Chiefs

Chad Henne may be annoyingly good, but let’s be honest – the Chiefs need an upgrade (and a younger face) at the QB2 spot. The Kansas City Chiefs ultra-gifted QB Patrick Mahomes has had injury issues: two missed games in 2019 and one missed match-up in 2020. The Chiefs may want to send a late-round pick to the Steelers for a face that could be the back-up to Mahomes for a long time.

Chad Henne days until Michigan football pic.twitter.com/4HsJUjVqDf
— ³¹³ (@MotownFanatic_) August 27, 2022

Houston Texans

Davis Mills, who is more than a big neck, had a seriously underrated rookie campaign. Nonetheless, it’s unclear if he can ascend in year two in Houston. It would be wise for HOU to add another talented, young profile in Rudolph. The QB from Oklahoma State University could be enticed about potentially garnering the keys to the offense in a Texans uniform.

Will Sam Howell start in 2022?

By: Brock Wells

Sam Howell was drafted in the fifth round by the Washington Commanders in the 2022 NFL Draft out of the University of North Carolina. As it stands, Carson Wentz is set to be the Week One starter for the Commanders against the Jacksonville Jaguars. But Wentz has always been iffy at best as a starting quarterback, and the Commanders aren’t expected to make a lot of noise in the NFC playoff picture this season.

Barring a dramatic overperformance on the part of Wentz, it’s difficult to say that his job is secure long term. Should the Commanders struggle, do they turn to Taylor Heinicke, who started for the team in 15 games in 2021, or is it possible that they decide to turn to the rookie Howell? The team went 7-8 in those 15 games with Heinicke at the helm in ’21. If the team decides to get creative and push the boundaries a bit, Howell might be the better choice.

Sam Howell broke North Carolina's all-time pass TD record on this dynamic play ? pic.twitter.com/9EUcPFtPR6
— ESPN (@espn) September 4, 2021

It’s been quite a while since the NFL team from Washington D.C. has excited anyone, let alone their fanbase. After years of turmoil from the controversy surrounding their now retired name to allegations of abuse and harassment, this is a team that desperately needs to find something else to shape its identity around. A rookie quarterback with a lot of spunk could be exactly what this team is looking for.

Howell has been one of the bright spots in training camp for the Commanders by all accounts and has been able to showcase his arm strength and accuracy on several occasions. Though this seems to me to be much more about the team’s identity going forward than it is about mere training camp notes. Wentz seems to be a band aid for the team at best. He surely isn’t any kind of solid answer for them long term.

The success of the team is ultimately going to determine who their quarterback is going to be. If the Commanders look like a sub-.500 team by mid-season, what would be the harm in putting Howell in the starting lineup for a game or two to see what happens? If they manage to be more successful than that and buck preseason projections, then maybe sticking with Wentz or Heinicke continues to be the best thing for them in ’22.

Sam Howell hitting em right in the chest ?

It certainly isn’t Howell’s statistics that make him an outlier among recent rookie quarterbacks.

NCAA career stats:

Howell (2019-2021, 37 games): 10,283 passing yards, 92 touchdowns, 164.2 passing efficiency rating

Trevor Lawrence (2018-2020, 40 games): 10,098 passing yards, 90 touchdowns, 164.3 passing efficiency rating

Zach Wilson (2018-2020, 30 games): 7,652 passing yards, 56 touchdowns, 162.9 passing efficiency rating

Honestly, what do the Commanders have to lose?

Who is the most overrated quarterback?

By: Jake Rajala

The NFL has profoundly magical quarterbacks in Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott, and Matt Ryan. After the first wave of gifted quarterbacks, there is an abundance of quarterbacks that have made flashes of greatness but are still regarded as overrated in my opinion. With that stated, I’m going to untwine five overrated quarterbacks entering 2022.

Ryan Tannehill

The Tennessee Titans signal-caller, Ryan Tannehill, looked worse than the 2020 version of Mitchell Trubisky last season. Tanny only unveiled 21 passing touchdowns (to 14 interceptions) & completely sunk in the playoff contest against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Titans QB threw one touchdown, three interceptions, and finished with a QBR of 66.7. I believe the Titans made a mistake hanging onto Tannehill this off-season, especially after shipping away A.J. Brown and witnessing Derrick Henry age a bit more. I foresee Malik Willis having the keys to the offense by the mid-point of the season.

Malik Willis with a very nice throw for a touchdown to Chig Okonkwo in the back of the end zone in red zone.
— Teresa Walker ? (@TeresaMWalker) August 18, 2022

Baker Mayfield

I believe the Carolina Panthers made too desperate of a choice to bring in Baker Mayfield this off-season. Mayfield hasn’t made a single Pro Bowl in his career. He’s also thrown 13+ interceptions in three of his four seasons. I don’t believe the outlook is pretty for Matt Rhule and Mayfield in the loaded NFC South. I have an itch that CAR will bring in a new, offensive-minded HC and a QB early in the 2023 draft next off-season.

Zach Wilson

The New York Jets quarterback receives a ton of hope and buzz (mostly for his infamous hand gesture and touchdown), but he honestly had a dreadful rookie campaign: nine passing touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and 2,334 passing yards. It was a complete surprise to me that the Jets only brought in Joe Flacco to pair with the former BYU signal-caller this off-season. Wilson must have a 2022 season similar to the 2021 version of Mac Jones (at least) with the Jets weapons (Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and Garrett Wilson).

Zach Wilson is already back with the Jets: pic.twitter.com/oVyLAO7Izu
— Jets Videos (@snyjets) August 18, 2022

Jameis Winston

I am jumping from the bandwagon on Jameis Winston being an underrated QB to him being an overrated QB. He undoubtedly was an efficient QB in his seven-game stint last season. However, it is yet to be seen if he can be consistent and clutch over a 17-game span in the upcoming season. Furthermore, he doesn’t have Sean Payton in his corner moving forward. Let’s not forget that he will certainly miss LT Terron Armstead – as the rookie Trevor Penning has already displayed growing pains as a pass-blocker. Winston should continue to be better than his days in Tampa Bay, but can he bring the Saints back to the post-season?

Jalen Hurts

The Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts has garnered a lot of praise and very favorable projections. Nonetheless, it’s vital to remember that he didn’t exactly blow defenses out of the building in 2021 (3,144 passing yds, 16 passing TDs, 9 interceptions). With DeVonta Smith AND A.J. Brown, he needs to crack his first Pro Bowl nod and bring his team back to the NFC playoffs.

Cool facts about Joe Flacco

By: Jake Rajala

The New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson dodged a bullet (also known as an ACL tear), but he could still miss Week 1’s match-up against the Baltimore Ravens. Hence, it makes a ton of sense to expect that Joe Flacco could start against his former team. Flacco may be laid-back, but I’m sure he will have a chip on his shoulder to beat the team that helped him land in a brutal, rebuilding situation. With that stated, I’m going to untwine five interesting facts about Flacco.

Depending on the severity of Zach Wilson’s knee injury, Week 1 could get a lot more interesting

Lamar Jackson vs Joe Flacco

?: @Ravens pic.twitter.com/TD3VeqM38t
— Sarah Ellison (@sgellison) August 13, 2022

He went to the University of Delaware

Flacco shined as the signal-caller for the University of Delaware. Per Blue Hens, he still has the record for most passing yards in a season (4,263), 300-yard passing games (11), and career completion percentage (.634). Other notable alumni from the University of Delaware include President Joe Biden, Adam Osborne, and Rich Gannon.

Baseball

It shouldn’t be a surprise to hear that Flacco had a knack for excelling in baseball. He was a former State Championship pitcher & he even contemplated on playing baseball in the summer before his senior year. Although, Flacco’s football coach convinced him that he should focus on football and that he has a legitimate chance to play in the NFL.

Joe Flacco played high school baseball in Audubon, N.J., but sliding isn't his forte. He was a pitcher. He broke his knee brace on that scramble-slide
— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) November 28, 2017

Flacco hasn’t made it to the Pro Bowl

The Ravens signal-caller has won a Super Bowl ring, led the Ravens to five 10+ win seasons, but he hasn’t garnered a Pro Bowl nod. With that said, he’s undoubtedly the best QB to fail to make the Pro Bowl in his career.

Flacco is an ITSJ personality type

Flacco is pegged as an ISTJ personality type – which is sincerely an authentic MBTI. ISTJ stands for introverted, thinking, sensory, and judgment. ISTJs are comprised of 11.6% of the population. Other MBTIs of notable QBs are ENFP for Tom Brady, ENFP for Drew Brees, and Patrick Mahomes. It’s clear that Flacco is a unique individual and an authentic QB.

Flacco has a brother that was a professional quarterback

It’s clear that arm talent is in the Flacco blood – as Joe has a younger brother, Tom, who played in the CFL with the Ottawa Redblacks. Tom played at Western Michigan University prior to his jump to the professional level. He is 27 years old (which is a decade younger than Joe).

Do the Jets have a high ceiling in 2022?

By: Jake Rajala

The New York Jets have struggled to be any type of force in the AFC over the past decade. It may be easy to blame Adam Gase or Joe Namath’s deal with the devil for the Jets failure to make the playoffs since 2010, but NY simply hasn’t found success at the lead head coach spot, the quarterback position, or as a collective unit.

After Rex Ryan led an underdog team to the AFC championship in 2009 and 2010, Ryan, Todd Bowles, Gase, and Robert Saleh haven’t brought the team in the Big Apple back to the playoff dance. The Jets management hasn’t really helped the HC and roster to be dangerous, as the Jets have showcased the following signal-callers since 2010: Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh McCown, Sam Darnold, and Zach Wilson. The Jets haven’t even found a slightly above average QB in a span of 12 years.

Josh McCown is PUMPED after today's #Jets WIN!

Jets Post Game Live RIGHT NOW on SNY pic.twitter.com/Bcw8a6MQyA
— SNY (@SNYtv) December 3, 2017

With that said, there is hope amid Gang Green nation that the tides are turning in NY. The Jets drafted a superb CB in Ahmad Gardner after inking CB D.J. Reed in free agency. The Jets Achilles heel on defense was unequivocally the CB talent last season. At pick 10, the Jets went offense and picked WR Garrett Wilson. The Jets have really loaded up on WR talent over the past couple of seasons. Many Jets fans feel the Jets should have spent some of their money and draft ammunition to improve the Jets pass protection over adding more beef at the wideout position for Wilson. Nonetheless, it’s obvious that Wilson, Corey Davis, and Elijah Moore are excellent weapons on paper.

.@GarrettWilson_V tape goes crazy ? pic.twitter.com/H0A2Q9zAp7
— New York Jets (@nyjets) May 3, 2022

It’s not a myth that the Jets have gained more steam this offseason and they should have more fond memories in 2022 than in their 2021 campaign. It’s very possible that the Jets have growing pains with Zach Wilson behind their OL, but the combination of growth in Wilson and the WR talent can override some pain that Wilson will likely endure with his current pass protection.

The Cincinnati Bengals were AFC Champions last season, but Joe Burrow was also the most sacked QB in the league. The Bengals still had unique top-end success given the overly impressive QB-WR duo and very elite talent on defense (ex: Trey Hendrickson). The Bengals formula to be really competitive in 2021 could be inspiring for Jets nation “to be competitive” entering the 2022 campaign. I expect the second-year HC-QB combo to be able to win 8 games next season. It will be difficult for the Jets to make a large leap on offense and the Jets defense is very young and unproven. Wilson and his offense can make a lot of splash plays and potentially win 6-8 games, but it will be a daunting challenge for the Jets to have a winning record in the frigid AFC East next season.

With that said, it may be wise for Dan Campbell to trade away his veteran quarterback Jared Goff. It’s obvious that he’s respected for surviving his situation in 2021, but it would make sense if the Lions placed their utmost confidence in a rookie QB. Plus, it’s clear that Goff doesn’t carry a superb ceiling. The San Francisco 49ers are still looking for the right home for Jimmy G and it would make sense if DET is soon looking to trade away their 2021 starting QB. So, the question is: which teams could trade for Goff in the near future?

Carolina Panthers

It’s clear that Goff would be a cheaper option than Baker Mayfield for the Panthers. He could be cheaper than Mayfield and still more talented than Sam Darnold for CAR. In fact, Goff was quite more impressive than Darnold in 2020. Here is a closer look at how productive each QB was last season:

Darnold: 2,527 passing yards, 9 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions

Goff: 3,245 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions

Goff could defintely be a nice value pickup for the Panthers, especially if the Panthers don’t win the Mayfield sweepstakes.

The Panthers just can't start Sam Darnold again. They need to embrace the underrated life strategy of settling. pic.twitter.com/P1KS0Egxan
— Gregg Rosenthal (@greggrosenthal) April 19, 2022

New York Jets

It’s far from certain that former BYU legend Zach Wilson will bounce back in his second season. Regardless of his cool throw against the Tennessee Titans, he was still benched in favor for Mike White. Wilson ousted a 3-10 record, 9 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 55.6 completion percentage. The HC-QB combo are really on the hot seat in 2022, so it would be wise to improve the QB via a reasonable cost. It’s also safe to say that Goff is an upgrade over the annoyingly popular Joe Flacco in NY.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers don’t exactly have the fountain of youth in Tom Brady. Brady will most likely retire within a couple of seasons. Goff could be a sneaky QB2 option for the Bucs, as he provides a modest combination of youth and talent. It was clear that the Bucs were looking to improve from Kyle Trask in Brady’s short-lived retirment. The Bucs GM Jason Licht could make a wise investment by inking a veteran to compete with Trask this off-season.

Honorable mention

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are the perfect darkhorse team to acquire Goff in my opinion. Ryan Tannehill took the QB1 spot in Tennessee away from Marcus Mariota and Goff could potentially remove the keys to the Titans QB spot away from Tanny. If Tannehill still remains the starting QB for the Titans, it would still make sense for the reigning AFC one seed to improve their QB2 spot. It may also intrigue Jon Robinson that Goff is six years younger than his current starting QB.
