<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Week 1 of the 2024-24 NFL season was entertaining, to say the least. We had some surprise upsets (Patriots) and for the most part running backs ruled the day. In fact, the average passing yards per team were just 188.3 which is the lowest since 2006. You can expect that to change in week 2 as offenses start to find their rhythm. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As for this week&#8217;s headlines, injuries are at the top of everyone&#8217;s mind. There were some surprising inactives and unfortunate injuries that we are monitoring closely heading into week 2. Let&#8217;s take a look at those in more detail.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<script>window.PLAYERCARDS_CONFIG={parseFullText:true,affiliateCode:'mania'};</script>
    					<script src='http://cdn.fantasypros.com/playercards/v2/auto_parse_nfl.js'></script>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><em><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McCaCh01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-09-10_pfr">Christian McCaffrey</a></em></strong> &#8211; McCaffrey was a surprise inactive on Monday Night Football against the Jets. We knew he was dealing with a calf injury in training camp but it appears to be more serious than we thought. It looks like his week 2 status is also in danger which is not good news. For now, we have him ranked but that will change once we get more updates.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><em><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LoveJo03.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-09-10_pfr">Jordan Love</a></em></strong> &#8211; Another injury to watch is Love who injured his knee late in the Friday night loss to the Eagles. The video did not look good but the Packers received encouraging news in that it&#8217;s just an MCL sprain. Love has not been officially ruled out yet but it&#8217;s hard to see him playing this week.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The 2024-25 NFL season is almost here with all 32 teams back for training camp. This means fantasy football drafts are starting and it&#8217;s an important time to start prepping for the fantasy football season. Below you will find our 2024 fantasy football draft rankings for the upcoming season.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As usual, these rankings will be updated up to week 1 of the NFL season. Before you check out our rankings, check out some highlights that stick out.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Two Rookie QB&#8217;s in the Top 20</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The big question heading into every new NFL season is how the top quarterbacks in the draft will fare. There is a lot of hype for Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels this year and we are buying the hype.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Williams has a great supporting cast surrounding him in Chicago. With plenty of weapons to choose from, he should thrive in this new-look Bears offense.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In Washington, Daniels has been the talk of training camp. While he has not officially been given the starting job many believe it&#8217;s just a matter of time. Daniels is the perfect quarterback for Kliff Kingsbury&#8217;s system and will have plenty of opportunities to put up points.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Christian McCaffrey Holds Down Top Spot</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At this point, it&#8217;s no surprise that McCaffrey is #1 overall in our draft rankings. The 49ers running back was once again RB1 last season and there are no signs of him slowing down. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I expect McCaffrey to once again put up big numbers in the San Francisco offense. This could be the last year though this offensive unit stays intact with Brock Purdy&#8217;s contract looming.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Back in 2020, the Kansas City Chiefs captured their second Super Bowl title thanks to a 4th quarter comeback against the San Francisco 49ers. The two juggernauts will face off again on Sunday in another heavy-weight battle made for Vegas. Who has the edge in Super Bowl LVIII and who will eventually come out on top? Find out below as we give you our prediction for the big game.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">San Francisco 49ers -2 vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday 6:30 PM EST on CBS)</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if Super Bowl LVIII went to overtime. That&#8217;s how close these two teams are to each other. On the one side, you have the dynamic 49ers offense led by <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McCaCh01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-02-09_pfr">Christian McCaffrey</a> and on the other, you have the great <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MahoPa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-02-09_pfr">Patrick Mahomes</a>. These two stars are the headline but both of these teams are much more than that.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This is perhaps the best defense the Chiefs have had under Mahomes and Andy Reid. They finished 2nd in the league allowing just 17.3 points per game. The Chiefs also finished 2nd in total yards per game at 289.8 right behind the Baltimore Ravens. DC Steve Spagnuolo deserves his flowers as he has become one of the best defensive minds in the NFL today.</p>

<center><a id='VnATXULxRoNHnJqQT-BgEA' class='gie-single' href='http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/1672081965' target='_blank' style='color:#a7a7a7;text-decoration:none;font-weight:normal !important;border:none;display:inline-block;' rel="noopener">Embed from Getty Images</a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'VnATXULxRoNHnJqQT-BgEA',sig:'bvODyzoXZariiGCPFKIL3L89ziikauCy3YwScSqORLE=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'1672081965',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});</script><script src='//embed-cdn.gettyimages.com/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async></script></center>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Speaking of defense the 49ers are right behind the Chiefs in terms of defensive rankings. They have studs all across their d-line but the heart of this defense is the linebackers. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GreeDr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-02-09_pfr">Dre Greenlaw</a> and <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WarnFr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-02-09_pfr">Fred Warner</a> are two of the best in the business at their position and they will have their hands full with Mahomes on Sunday. In order to win, the 49ers will need to force some mistakes from Mahomes which seems almost impossible at this point.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It may seem cliche but this game will be won in the trenches. Specifically the 49ers o-line vs. the Chiefs d-line. The Chiefs line is of course anchored by <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=JoneCh09,JoneCh02,JoneCh06,JoneCh04,JoneCh01,JoneCh21&amp;search=Chris+Jones&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-02-09_pfr">Chris Jones</a> but the rest of the unit is underrated. As a unit, the Chiefs defense was 2nd in pressures at 27.8% and 2nd in sacks at 57. The Chiefs however will be without <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/O/OmenCh00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-02-09_pfr">Charles Omenihu</a> who recently went on IR. Omenihu is a rising star who will be missed. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The 49ers 0-line is led by future Hall of Famer <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WillTr21.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-02-09_pfr">Trent Williams</a>. Williams and company will need to be at the top of their game to limit the pressures on quarterback <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PurdBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-02-09_pfr">Brock Purdy</a>. This is where the mastery of Kyle Shanahan&#8217;s run game comes into play. There is no one better in the NFL at scheming the run and l expect them to stick to it all game long. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As stated earlier this is one of the toughest Super Bowls to predict. These two teams are about as close as you can get. I believe in the end the 49ers will narrowly escape with a close win and give Shanahan his first Lombardi trophy. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Game Pick</strong>: 49ers 24- Chiefs 21</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">San Francisco 49ers (-2.5) vs Philadelphia Eagles</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Why in the world are the 49ers favorites against a very good Eagles team at home? </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This a question I think a lot of folks are asking themselves as we get ready for a doozy of a game on Sunday. Look, the 49ers are good on both sides of the ball, but Philadelphia is a very tough place to play with relentless and loud fans. To me the location of this game means a lot. You put this game in San Fran and I like San Fran, but in Philly, I like the Eagles to win in a close one. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Eagles have shown that they do have weaknesses, but they seem to find a way to win each and every week. There is no giving up with this team, as they always feel like they have a chance even if their down. The challenge for the 49ers on defense is how do you defend the Eagles. You can try and load the box to stop D&#8217;Andre Swift and <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HurtJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;amp;utm_campaign=2023-11-30_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jalen Hurts</a> but when you do that it opens up holes on the pass defense. Or do you play the pass and let them run a little bit. Do you blitz against Hurts? That&#8217;s fine but he can escape most pass rushers and run for 5-10 yards. He is a very smart and athletic quarterback. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When I look at the coaches I like Kyle Shanahan, but don&#8217;t sleep on Nick Sirianni. I don&#8217;t think there&#8217;s a coincidence between the Eagles being 10-1 and Sirianni coaching at a every high level. He also has a top notch coaching staff with a winning culture. This game will be close with the home team pulling it out. I think the Eagles will put pressure on <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PurdBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;amp;amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;amp;amp;utm_campaign=2023-11-30_pfr">Brock Purdy</a> and make it difficult on him to pass the ball. In addition, they will have a game plan for <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McCaCh01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;amp;amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;amp;amp;utm_campaign=2023-11-30_pfr">Christian McCaffrey</a> and try to contain him as much as they can. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Prediction: Eagles 34 49ers 30</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s week 7 in the NFL and below you will find our newly released fantasy football rankings. There are some big games this week including the Lions at the Ravens and the Dolphins at the Eagles. There are also some injuries we are monitoring closely that could affect these rankings. Let&#8217;s highlight some of those players below along with the latest updates to their status.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McCaCh01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-18_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Christian McCaffrey</a> &#8211; </strong>McCaffrey picked up an oblique injury in Sunday&#8217;s loss to the Cleveland Browns. The good news is the 49ers don&#8217;t play until Monday night. Still, there is cause for concern for McCaffrey owners and how serious the injury is. We should know more later on Wednesday after the 49ers practice report.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LawrTr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-18_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Trevor Lawrence</a> &#8211;</strong> Lawrence suffered a knee injury late in Jacksonville&#8217;s win over the Colts. At this point, it looks like he avoided any serious injury and was limited at Tuesday&#8217;s practice. Keep in mind, the Jaguars play on Thursday night and if Lawrence is still having soreness he may be sidelined.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MontDa01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-18_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">David Montgomery</a> &#8211; </strong>Montgomery is dealing with an injury to his ribs that may keep him out of the week 7 matchup versus Baltimore. Head coach Dan Campbell recently stated that he will be out &#8220;a little bit&#8221; which is vague but doesn&#8217;t look good for Sunday.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Stock Up</strong></h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Buffalo Bills:</strong> This is the Bills team we all know and love. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=AlleJo02,AlleJo03,AlleJo00&amp;amp;search=Josh+Allen&amp;amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-04_pfr">Josh Allen</a> to <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DiggSt00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-04_pfr">Stefon Diggs</a> and a defense that makes enough stops to keep the other team at bay. Miami had a chance to make a statement but they just couldn&#8217;t stop Allen. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Tampa Bay Buccaneers:</strong> Is this <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MayfBa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-04_pfr">Baker Mayfield</a>&#8216;s resurgence with an NFL team. He has proven that he wants to stay and has the Bucs at an impressive 3-1 record.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>San Francisco 49ers: </strong>49ers are arguably the best coached team and have the best defense in the league. They also have <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McCaCh01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-04_pfr">Christian McCaffrey</a> who ran for three touchdowns on Sunday. They face a tough Dallas D this weekend.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Dallas Cowboys:</strong> The Cowboys D has been very formidable this year only second to the 49ers. Once there offense starts clicking, which starts with Prescott, they will be tough to beat. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Stock Down</strong></h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>New York Giants</strong>: Brian Daboll might be on the hot seat already. After a very good 2022 season where he took them to the playoffs, they look the complete opposite this year. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoneDa05.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-04_pfr">Daniel Jones</a> is struggling and not having Barkley in the backfield definitely hurts.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>New England Patriots</strong>: What is wrong with the Patriots? <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoneMa05.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-04_pfr">Mac Jones</a> is struggling and their defense is doing much better. This is Bill Belichick&#8217;s biggest challenge so far. Right now there is no way they make the playoffs.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Cincinnati Bengals</strong>: The Bengals were favored to go to the Super Bowl if not win it this year. Something is wrong and it starts with <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BurrJo01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-04_pfr">Joe Burrow</a>. There offense has been non-extinct. They also are not a playoff team with the Bills and Chiefs surging ahead. If the Bengals don&#8217;t turn it around with a W this weekend, it could be a long season.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Chicago Bears</strong>: Matt Eberflus is clearly not the answer at coach. He had some questionable calls on Sunday. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FielJu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-10-04_pfr">Justin Fields</a> hasn&#8217;t looked himself which is why I have them trending down.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">What an exciting week 2 of NFL football as we saw a few big comebacks, and a few dominant victories with teams that have solidified themselves as legit. Let&#8217;s take a look at which teams stock went up, and which ones are trending down.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Stock Up</strong></h4>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Baltimore Ravens</strong>: For all the <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=JackLa00,JackLa02&amp;amp;search=Lamar+Jackson&amp;amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Lamar Jackson</a> doubters he has shown he is a pocket passer after Game 2. Now it is only one game and defenses will try to defend him better but the Ravens appear to be on the up and up. If <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/EdwaGu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Gus Edwards</a> can run like he did in Game 2 they will be hard to beat. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>San Francisco 49ers</strong>: <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PurdBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Brock Purdy</a> didn&#8217;t have his best game, but the 49ers still won with a stiff D and and another strong game from <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McCaCh01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Christian McCaffrey</a>. Also, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SamuDe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Deebo Samuel</a> came alive, who they will need as they compete with the good teams in the NFC. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Dallas Cowboys</strong>: Two words, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/ParsMi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Micah Parsons</a>! He is a difference maker on defense and a big reason Dallas will be hard to beat this year. There D is extremely fast and talented. Even if <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PresDa01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Dak Prescott</a> doesn&#8217;t play his best, Dallas should be in every game. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Stock Down</strong></h4>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Houston Texans</strong>: We all didn&#8217;t expect Houston to be a Super Bowl favorite but they haven&#8217;t looked that good. This is a rebuilding year with their first year QB.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Denver Broncos</strong>: Denver had a 21-3 lead against the Commanders and somehow found a way to lose at home. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WilsRu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Russell Wilson</a> had flashes of good plays and then plays that left me scratching my head. He has to learn to be smart with the ball and not be so tentative in the pocket. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Cincinnati Bengals</strong>: Cincinnati should be OK in the long run, but right now they don&#8217;t look good. The offensive line is struggling to protect <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BurrJo01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Joe Burrow</a>, which is effecting the solid WR corps of the Bengals. I feel like they have to utilize <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MixoJo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-19_pfr">Joe Mixon</a> better to relieve some pressure off Burrow. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">NFL Week 2 Game Recap: Seattle Seahawks 37, Detroit Lions 31</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Seattle Seahawks won 37-31 in walk-off fashion on the road in Detroit as <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SmitGe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Geno Smith</a> found <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LockTy00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Tyler Lockett</a>, who reached out for the pylon. Smith led Seattle to a turnover-free victory, going 32-for-41 with 328 yards and two touchdowns. Both passing touchdowns were to Lockett, who racked up eight catches for 59 yards. Seattle also found success on the ground, rushing for 82 yards and two touchdowns.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Seahawks receiver <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MetcDK00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">D.K. Metcalf</a> left the game in the first quarter with a rib injury, and headed to to the locker room. He returned shortly after, finishing the game with six receptions for 75 yards, as Geno Smith spread the targets around all game. Turnovers proved to be the downfall for Detroit. The Lions fumbled the ball away twice in a row, one to end the first half and another to begin the second half. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GoffJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Jared Goff</a> then threw a pick-six to Seattle cornerback <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BrowTr03.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Tre Brown</a>, who ran it back 40 yards to the house. Late in the fourth quarter, Goff led the Lions down the field for a game-tying field goal, forcing overtime with a score of 31-31. However it was not enough for the Lions, who fall to 1-1 after the loss. Meanwhile, Seattle also moves to 1-1 with the victory.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">NFL Week 2 Game Recap: Buffalo Bills 38, Las Vegas Raiders 10</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=AlleJo02,AlleJo03,AlleJo00&amp;search=Josh+Allen&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Josh Allen</a> led the Buffalo Bills to a stress-free victory at home, going 31-for-37 with 274 yards and three touchdowns. Both the Bills and the Las Vegas Raiders move to 1-1 on the season.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sam Howell finished the game with an impressive 27 completions on 39 attempts for 299 yards and two touchdown passes. Running back <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RobiBr01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Brian Robinson</a> Jr. also ran in for a pair of touchdowns himself.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">NFL Week 2 Game Recap: Dallas Cowboys 30, New York Jets 10</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Jets handedly by a score of 30-10 as the Cowboys defense dominated for the second week in a row. Dallas moves to 2-0 on the season as the Jets fall to 1-1.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/ParsMi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Micah Parsons</a> and the Cowboys defense looked unstoppable in week two, intercepting Jets quarterback <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WilsZa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Zach Wilson</a> three times. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">Ceedee Lamb showed he didn’t need the help of <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CookBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Brandin Cooks</a>, who missed the game due to a sprained knee. Lamb recorded 11 catches for 143 yards, with big plays setting up for multiple scores for Dallas. Kicker <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AubrBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Brandon Aubrey</a> went five-for-five on field goals, as <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PresDa01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Dak Prescott</a> found tight ends <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FergJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Jake Ferguson</a> and <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SchoLu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Luke Schoonmaker</a> for a touchdown each.&amp;nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The lone touchdown for the Jets came from star receiver Garret Wilson, who caught a pass across the middle and took it 68 yards to the house, marking his longest touchdown of his career thus far. Other than that, there wasn’t much going for Zach Wilson and the Jets offense, who recorded 215 total yards. Parsons along with the rest of the ruthless Dallas front four pressured Wilson all game, showing why they are one of the best defenses in the NFL.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">NFL Week 2 Game Recap: Miami Dolphins 24, New England Patriots 17</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Miami Dolphins held off a late comeback by the New England Patriots, winning the game 24-17 as a lateral to <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StraCo01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Cole Strange</a> came up short on fourth down.&amp;nbsp;</p>

The interception came at the end of the third quarter after the Patriots drove down the field into the redzone. <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HowaXa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Xavien Howard</a> picked off the pass intended for <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/ParkDe01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">DeVante Parker</a> on the sideline at the Miami three yard line, putting an end to New Englands’ drive and keeping the score at 17-3.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Patriots cut the lead down in the fourth quarter following a Mac Jones scramble for 18 yards, the longest run of the night for New England. Jones found <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HenrHu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Hunter Henry</a> on the run for a six yard touchdown pass, making the score 17-10.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On the next Miami possession, Tagovailoa threw it deep down the left side of the field to Tyreek Hill as the pass was intercepted by Christian Gonzalez. The rookie first round pick made a leaping catch over Hill, giving the Patriots the ball back.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Dolphins forced a three and out, getting the ball back on the New England 43 yard line. On the first play of the drive, Raheem Mostert took a handoff up the middle 43 yards untouched to the endzone, extending the lead to 24-10.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Mac Jones led the Patriots to a 9 play 75 yard drive ending with a <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StevRh00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Rhamondre Stevenson</a> touchdown run to cut the lead down to 24-17.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Dolphins took the ball and drove it into Patriots territory, before the snap was fumbled on third and one. Tua recovered the fumble, but the mistake forced Miami to kick a 55 yard field goal. With concern for <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SchoBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Brenden Schooler</a>, who blocked the previous field goal, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SandJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Jason Sanders</a> missed the field goal, giving the Patriots an opportunity to tie or win the game.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After finding <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BourKe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Kendrick Bourne</a> for a pair of completions, Mac Jones was sacked by <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/ChubBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Bradley Chubb</a> for a loss of 8 yards. New England was faced with a fourth and four, where Mac Jones completed a pass to <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GesiMi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Mike Gesicki</a> short of the first down line. Gesicki threw a lateral to offensive lineman Cole Strange, who was stopped short of the marker, ending the comeback for the Patriots.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The win brings the Dolphins to 2-0 on the season, as the Patriots fall to 0-2.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s hard to argue that the San Francisco 49ers have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. They have studs on both sides of the ball with the only question mark being at the quarterback position. San Francisco looks to have solved that quarterback issue when they struck gold with <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PurdBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-06_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Brock Purdy</a> aka &#8220;Mr. Irrelevant&#8221;. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Purdy led the 49ers to the NFC Championship game before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles. Purdy coincidentally suffered a significant shoulder injury in that game. Is Purdy back to full health and ready to lead San Francisco on a title run? Find out below as we offer a preview and record prediction for the 2023-2024 season. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">The Good</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For a handful of years, Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers deployed a running-back-by-committee approach. Shanahan&#8217;s zone-running style offense relies heavily on the play-action game to be successful. While it worked for the most part San Francisco never had a game-breaker in the backfield. That all changed last year when the 49ers traded for <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McCaCh01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-06_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Christian McCaffrey</a>. The trade signified a change in philosophy for Shanahan and it showed the front office was all in on winning a Super Bowl. </p>

<center><a id='jfgWxlm2R9ZUMp3wAC1Wew' class='gie-single' href='http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/1437772470' target='_blank' style='color:#a7a7a7;text-decoration:none;font-weight:normal !important;border:none;display:inline-block;' rel="noopener">Embed from Getty Images</a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'jfgWxlm2R9ZUMp3wAC1Wew',sig:'kKnYgZsVyl18rTo0ukPgCjqvvvvoLrJ6iiRcrXRtDb4=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'1437772470',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});</script><script src='//embed-cdn.gettyimages.com/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async></script></center>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While it didn&#8217;t quite go as planned it was still a major success bringing in McCaffrey. There are now no limitations with what this offense can run thanks to McCaffrey&#8217;s versatility. The 49ers have an upper-echelon offensive line anchored by <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WillTr21.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-06_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Trent Williams</a> and weapons on the outside. I see no reason why this can&#8217;t be one of the best offenses in the league this season. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">The Bad</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the main storylines heading into this season is the absence of <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BosaNi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-06_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Nick Bosa</a>. Bosa wants a new contract but so far the 49ers front office hasn&#8217;t budged. This is the type of off-the-field issue that could linger and needs to be resolved for the 49ers to have success. Bosa is way too valuable to this defense and without him, they will start to show cracks. My hope is that the two sides reach a last minute deal and Bosa is ready week 1. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">The Prediction</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Despite the ongoing Bosa issue I still expect the 49ers to win the NFC West. There is just too much talent on this roster and I expect Bosa will eventually return in the near future.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2023 Record: (12-5 1st in the Division)</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The running back position has been a hot topic in the NFL recently. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BarkSa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Saquon Barkley</a> has <a href="https://profootballmania.com/2023/06/12/would-saquon-barkley-really-sit-out-the-2023-season/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">voiced his displeasure</a> at being franchise tagged and left the possibility of sitting out the 2023 season. Barkley and the Giants will likely work things out but what he is doing now is important for the future of the position. In all, 4 players who made our list of the best running backs of 2023 all have been tagged or have contract disputes. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This past offseason the top 3 running backs available were all franchise tagged. In addition, Chargers running back <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/EkelAu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Austin Ekeler</a> is also not happy about his current contract situation. If it wasn&#8217;t for a recent boost in incentives, Ekeler may have been traded. It&#8217;s important to point out these details as the real value of running backs has been debated in recent years. One thing you can&#8217;t debate is that the players below all play a critical role in their teams&#8217; success. Let&#8217;s now look closer at the top 10 running backs in the NFL today.</p>

New Orleans hopes the new addition of <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CarrDe02.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Derek Carr</a> will help solve their offensive woes and help them take a step forward. Carr will open up the field again for Kamara and the running back should bounce back. Health and off-the-field issues will be a concern for Kamara but as of now, it looks like he won&#8217;t be suspended.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="htoc-9-joe-mixon">9. Joe Mixon</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When healthy, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MixoJo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Joe Mixon</a> has put up consistent numbers throughout his career with the Cincinnati Bengals. Mixon is a true three-down back in one of the league&#8217;s best offenses. In 2023, he will have the backfield all to himself as <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PeriSa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Samaje Perine</a> is now with the Broncos. You can expect another Pro Bowl caliber year from Mixon and plenty of opportunities to score.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2022 Stats: 1,255 all purpose yards | 9 total touchdowns</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="htoc-8-tony-pollard">8. Tony Pollard</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When the Dallas Cowboys released <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/ElliEz00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Ezekiel Elliott</a> this offseason it signaled a changing of the guard. They were now confident enough to let <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PollTo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Tony Pollard</a> be the feature back. Pollard has all the tools of a modern NFL running back. He will now get the chance to showcase those skills for Dallas. The only concern with Pollard is durability. Can he handle the full-time workload? </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2022 Stats: 1,378 all purpose yards | 12 total touchdowns</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="htoc-7-aaron-jones">7. Aaron Jones</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For most of his career in Green Bay, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=JoneAa00,JoneAa20&amp;amp;search=Aaron+Jones&amp;amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Aaron Jones</a> has had competition in the Packers backfield. That really hasn&#8217;t mattered as Jones has put up numbers regardless. Jones has always been a threat in the receiving game and in 2022 had 5 receiving touchdowns. Now with <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RodgAa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Aaron Rodgers</a> out of the picture, Jones will be relied on more than ever. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2022 Stats: 1,516 all purpose yards | 7 total touchdowns</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="htoc-6-saquon-barkley">6. Saquon Barkley</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The aforementioned Saquon Barkley will be playing with a chip on his shoulder next season. For what it&#8217;s worth, the Giants should&#8217;ve franchise tagged <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoneDa05.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Daniel Jones</a> and paid Barkley his due. It&#8217;s now unlikely that the two sides will agree on a new deal before the start of the season. The off-the-field noise won&#8217;t slow down Barkley&#8217;s production in 2023.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2022 Stats: 1,650 all purpose yards | 10 total touchdowns</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="htoc-5-nick-chubb">5. Nick Chubb</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Since his rookie season, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/ChubNi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Nick Chubb</a> has rushed for 1000+ yards each year he has been in the league. Chubb has always been an old school type of running back who can carry the heavy load. He had 302 rushing attempts last season and is showing no signs of slowing down.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2002 Stats: 1,764 all purpose yards | 13 total touchdowns</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="htoc-4-derrick-henry">4. Derrick Henry</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Like Chubb, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HenrDe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Derrick Henry</a> is a between the tackles type of runner with breakaway speed. There were rumors this offseason that the Titans might try and trade Henry. Those rumors turned out to be false as Henry looks poised for another big year. No matter who the quarterback is for the Titans, Henry will be the focal point of this offense for the foreseeable future. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2022 Stats: 1,936 all purpose yards | 13 total touchdowns</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="htoc-3-austin-ekeler">3. Austin Ekeler</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Austin Ekeler is one of the most versatile running backs in the NFL today. Line him up anywhere on the field and Ekeler will deliver. As we mentioned before this is likely Ekeler&#8217;s last season for the Chargers due to the contract situation. If he hits free agency expect a big payday for Ekeler.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2022 Stats: 1,637 all purpose yards | 18 total touchdowns</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="htoc-2-josh-jacobs">2. Josh Jacobs</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Despite being franchise tagged this offseason, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JacoJo01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr">Josh Jacobs</a> has been business as usual. Jacobs is a true professional who lets his game speak for itself. In 2022, Jacobs led the league in rushing yards, all purpose yards, yards per game and total touches. Even with a change at quarterback for the Raiders you can expect the gameplan to be the same. Keep feeding Jacobs.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2022 Stats: 2,053 all purpose yards | 12 total touchdowns</strong></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading" id="htoc-1-christian-mccaffrey">1. Christian McCaffrey</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McCaCh01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-06-15_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Christian McCaffrey</a> was traded to the San Francisco 49ers this past season it was a bit surprising. Kyle Shanahan has always deployed a running back by committee offensive system. By bringing in McCaffrey he knew he would have to rely heavily on his new star. The trade paid off as the 49ers were just 1 game away from the Super Bowl despite questions at quarterback. Now with a full offseason under his belt, McCaffrey is set for a monster year in San Francisco.</p>
