<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Now that the majority of the 2026 NFL free agency period is behind us, it&#8217;s time to start looking ahead to the 2026 NFL Draft in April. Several teams made big time moves to solidify their rosters (see the Chiefs, Steelers and 49ers). While others are relying on the draft to fill holes. In our version 1 mock draft we lay out how the first round will unfold with some selections highlighted below.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>5 Buckeyes go in the first round</strong> &#8211; Even though Ohio State failed to go back-to-back you can&#8217;t ignore the sheer talent on that roster. The Buckeyes will once again be the talk of the draft with several high upside prospects going in the top ten. <strong>Caleb Downs</strong> is the best overall prospect in this draft in my opinion and the Browns will have a cornerstone on their defense for many years to come.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>The Love sweepstakes &#8211;</strong> Star Notre Dame running back <strong>Jeremiyah Love</strong> was already getting plenty of buzz pre-combine and the hype reached another level post-combine. Love displayed the speed and quickness that has scouts drooling. How high will he go? I don&#8217;t think he will get past the Titans at 4. Is that too high to pick a running back? That&#8217;s debatable but Love is a special weapon that can carry an offense wherever he goes.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Commanders grab WR1 &#8211;</strong> I&#8217;ve been impressed thus far on how Washington is handling this free agency period. As many know, the Commanders had the oldest roster in the league last year and they set out to get younger across the board. They added <strong>Odafe Oweh</strong> who flashed with the Chargers last year finishing with 7.5 sacks. They also added several weapons for <strong>Jayden Daniels</strong> including TE <strong>Chig Okonkwo</strong>. The youth movement will continue as the select WR <strong>Carnell Tate</strong> with the 7th pick. Tate is the best overall receiver in this draft and could be the next <strong>Terry McLaurin</strong>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">What a wild week 3 in the NFL. The block party in the 1 O&#8217;clock window was just crazy to watch. It just goes to show how important special teams is in the modern game. As for fantasy, there were some surprise showings including <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WillCa03.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-09-23_pfr">Caleb Williams</a> best day as a pro. There were also more injuries of note that are worth noting. Let&#8217;s take a look at those below.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/ConnJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-09-23_pfr">James Conner</a> (vs. SEA)</strong> &#8211; Conner suffered a gruesome ankle injury in the loss to the 49ers. He is now out for the year which means it&#8217;s <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BensTr01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-09-23_pfr">Trey Benson</a>&#8216;s time in Arizona. Benson is worth spending a good amount of FAAB on especially if you&#8217;re in need of a running back.</p>

He picked up a quad injury that may keep him out this week when the Commanders face the Falcons. The injury didn&#8217;t look serious at the time but it&#8217;s worth monitoring as his status is in doubt.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HarrNa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-09-23_pfr">Najee Harris</a> (@ NYG)</strong> &#8211; Yet another running back fell victim to a season ending Achilles injury, this time it&#8217;s Harris. Najee shared the workload with rookie <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HampOm00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-09-23_pfr">Omarion Hampton</a> but now it will be the Hampton show in LA.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Coming out of college, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McLaTe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-25_pfr">Terry McLaurin</a> was somewhat of an unknown prospect. He was in a stacked wide receiver room at Ohio State but showed glimpses of greatness. McLaurin was projected by many to start his career as a special-teams ace and eventually work into a starting role. When Washington drafted him in 2019, they quickly figured out they had a star on their hands.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Fan Favorite</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It didn&#8217;t take long for McLaurin to become a fan favorite in DC. In his debut against the Eagles he exploded for 125 yards and a 69 yard touchdown. He would finish his rookie campaign with 7 receiving touchdowns despite mediocre quarterback play. In fact, that was the theme for McLaurin&#8217;s career until last season. Overall, McLaurin has played with 13 different starting quarterbacks over his time in Washington.</p>

<center><a id='zCBCluuxQ3tupfiUk7A2BA' class='gie-single' href='http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/2187752846' target='_blank' style='color:#a7a7a7;text-decoration:none;font-weight:normal !important;border:none;display:inline-block;'>Embed from Getty Images</a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'zCBCluuxQ3tupfiUk7A2BA',sig:'PfBVI7pc9XkBeZ_Qo16Qvco7vhh6IBu0q7qDbL8oAb0=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'2187752846',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});</script><script src='//embed-cdn.gettyimages.com/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async></script></center>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Despite the revolving door at quarterback, a terrible owner and several losing seasons, McLaurin never complained but instead perfected his craft. He could&#8217;ve complained, asked for a trade or spoke out to the media but that&#8217;s not who he is. That&#8217;s why he is so beloved in Washington, he has been a true team player. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Contract Standoff</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fast forward to today and McLaurin is one of the few training camp holdouts. There is a clear disconnect in his value between the Commanders front office and Terry&#8217;s camp. Rumors suggest McLaurin is asking in the $33m per year range while the Commanders are offering significantly lower than that. Is he worth that asking price?</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">That&#8217;s where this situation becomes tricky. Is he a top 10 WR? Yes, I believe he is right around the 10 range when ranking receivers. If he were to get $33m per year it would put him only below <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/ChasJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-25_pfr">Ja&#8217;Marr Chase</a>, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JeffJu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-25_pfr">Justin Jefferson</a> and <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LambCe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-25_pfr">CeeDee Lamb</a>. While McLaurin is clearly a star, he is not an elite game-breaking receiver in my opinion.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Adam Peters and the Washington front office most likely think the same but there is the loyalty factor. For many years he was the only bright spot on this Washington team. He is also coming off a franchise record 13 receiving touchdowns but is about to turn 30 in September. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s not as easy as giving McLaurin what he wants but at the same time you have to consider what he means to this team and community. My gut is telling me this will get done for around the $30m per year range but this holdout could last all the way through the pre-season.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AiyuBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-04-17_pfr">Brandon Aiyuk</a> is one of the top receivers in the NFL and now he wants to get paid like one. It&#8217;s no secret that Aiyuk is not happy about his current contract situation. The 49ers star stopped following the team on Instagram and while that may not mean much it&#8217;s notable given the circumstances. The big question now is if Brandon Aiyuk is on the trade block and if so what would it take to get him?</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Are the 49ers Exploring Trades for Aiyuk?</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As of today, the 49ers front office is denying that they are exploring trades for Aiyuk. The key word is &#8216;as of today&#8217; because this very much could change next week. With the 2024 NFL Draft coming next Thursday we could see San Francisco changing its stance and trading away their star receiver during the draft.</p>

<center><a id='hxWmghzfQX9XHg6QWYdgDA' class='gie-single' href='http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/1968799047' target='_blank' style='color:#a7a7a7;text-decoration:none;font-weight:normal !important;border:none;display:inline-block;' rel="noopener">Embed from Getty Images</a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'hxWmghzfQX9XHg6QWYdgDA',sig:'2FJo7lzFs6aheksZqdawAP-TrvLca1kvvj72-EgFaKA=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'1968799047',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});</script><script src='//embed-cdn.gettyimages.com/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async></script></center>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If they do entertain trades we can expect San Francisco to want a decent haul in return. This could include multiple draft picks in this year&#8217;s draft. Look no further than the <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DiggSt00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-04-17_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Stefon Diggs</a> trade for what to expect for Aiyuk.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Bills shipped Diggs to Houston for a 2025 2nd-round pick, a 2025 5th-round pick and a 2024 6th-round pick. I believe a 2024 2nd-round pick and a 2025 mid-round pick could pique the 49ers interest. Especially if the 2nd round pick is high in that round.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Possible Brandon Aiyuk Landing Spots</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you look at the current betting odds for Aiyuk&#8217;s next team the Steelers are in the lead at +200. This makes sense as Pittsburgh is in need of more weapons after the departure of <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JohnDi01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-04-17_pfr">Diontae Johnson</a>. The Steelers have the 20th pick in the first round and they could offer this for Aiyuk.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Another team to watch is the Washington Commanders. Washington is also in need of receivers and Aiyuk has ties to the new front office. Commanders GM Adam Peters drafted Aiyuk in 2020 and knows him well. Washington would then have to pay Aiyuk but they have plenty of cap space. The only hesitation I have to this scenario is the Commanders would have two high-paid receivers. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McLaTe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-04-17_pfr">Terry McLaurin</a> has two more years left on his contract and has a cap hit of $24 million this year.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Then of course there is the Jayden Daniels connection. If you believe the rumors that the Commanders plan on drafting Daniels with the 2nd pick then pairing him with his former Arizona St. receiver makes sense. For the record, I do believe Daniels is the pick for Washington as outlined in my latest <a href="https://profootballmania.com/2024/04/07/2024-nfl-mock-draft-v3/">mock draft</a>. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There will be plenty of chatter between now and the draft on Aiyuk&#8217;s future with the 49ers. If he is indeed traded I expect it to come next weekend. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With exactly 1 month until the NFL draft, there’s a lot of questions still left unanswered. The number 1 overall pick seems to be locked in, but as for the rest, it’s anyone’s guess as to who will go at the top of the board.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Caleb Williams to Chicago</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After the block buster move to send <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FielJu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-03-25_pfr">Justin Fields</a> to Pittsburgh, it’s more clear than ever that Caleb Williams will be the guy in Chicago. In years past, this would be considered a bad situation to go to, but with one of the best WR duos in the league (<a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AlleKe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-03-25_pfr">Keenan Allen</a> and <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=MoorD.00,MoorDJ99&amp;search=D.J.+Moore&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-03-25_pfr">D.J. Moore</a>) the pressure is on for Williams to perform. Williams is the most NFL ready QB and the clear #1 prospect in this draft.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Drake Maye to Washington. </h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Drake Maye is one of my favorite prospects in the draft. His big arm and big production makes him a Josh-Allen esque talent. More teams everyday are taking a chances on big talent big risk guys after seeing how well it has worked out. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McLaTe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-03-25_pfr">Terry McLaurin</a> and <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DotsJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-03-25_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jahan Dotson</a> should produce very well for Maye.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The only downside to his game is the turnovers, 9 INT’s and 4 particularly in the last 3 games of 2023 is definitely concerning, but it would be criminal to pass on him at 2.&nbsp;</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Patriots.</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Marvin Harrison is probably the best non-QB prospect in this draft. The patriots having many holes to fill in this roster should just take the best player available. The route of going QB is interesting but the question remains if you want to throw a rookie QB into a bad situation so early on.&nbsp;</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Malik Nabers to the Cardinals</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Nabers would be an electric addition to the WR-needy Cardinals. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MurrKy00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-03-25_pfr">Kyler Murray</a>’s production would skyrocket with Nabers and could seriously upgrade the Cardinals offensively, the option of trading down always remains of course, but going with Nabers seems like the smart choice.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Jayden Daniels to the Vikings (Trade)</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Here is the blockbuster trade of the evening, Minnesota trades up 6 places to grab their franchise guy at 5. Daniels had a career year at LSU winning the Heisman and skyrocketing his draft value. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JeffJu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-03-25_pfr">Justin Jefferson</a>, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AddiJo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-03-25_pfr">Jordan Addison</a> and Daniels have the potential to be the best offense in the league and would make this a crazy good pick.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>Our weekly fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em series features your best bets at the skill positions and players you should avoid. We also include our start of the week for the player who is guaranteed to produce that week. Below is our week 4 edition and as per usual I picked these players based on the Half-PPR scoring system. Be sure to check out our <a href="https://profootballmania.com/fantasy-football-rankings/">fantasy football </a>section for fantasy football advice and much more!</em></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Quarterbacks</h4>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Start &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WilsRu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">Russell Wilson</a> (@ Chi) &#8211; </strong>Russ hasn&#8217;t exactly been cooking for the Broncos but there are signs of life. Wilson has had back-to-back 300+ yard games and up next is the lowly Chicago Bears. This has breakout game written all over it for the Broncos offense. The Denver defense is still in shambles so this game should go over the current 46-point total. I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if Wilson targets <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MimsMa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">Marvin Mims</a> Jr. more in this matchup as he has been explosive so far in limited action. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sit &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BurrJo01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Joe Burrow</a> (@ Ten) &#8211; </strong>Burrow just hasn&#8217;t looked like himself thus far and the nagging calf injury is a concern. The entire Bengals offense has been limited due to Burrow&#8217;s inability to throw the ball down the field. Up next is a Titans defense that will force Burrow to throw outside of the pocket. At this point, I would like to see Burrow sit until he is completely healthy. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Running Backs</h4>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Start &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AchaDe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">De&#8217;Von Achane</a> (@ Buf) &#8211; </strong>If you were lucky enough to land Achane congratulations, it&#8217;s now time to slide him into your starting lineup. Sure the Dolphins have a ton of options on offense to spread the ball to but it won&#8217;t matter. Achane has shown enough that you can&#8217;t risk keeping him on your bench. I would also start <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MostRa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">Raheem Mostert</a> (my week 3 Start of the Week) as the two combined for 8 total touchdowns last week. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sit &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StevRh00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">Rhamondre Stevenson</a> (@ Dal) &#8211; </strong>Stevenson has yet to eclipse the 60+ rushing yards mark and is averaging just 2.9 yards per attempt. On top of that, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/ElliEz00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">Ezekiel Elliott</a> outperformed Stevenson in week 3 rushing for 80 yards on 16 carries. The Patriots now go on the road against the Cowboys who will be looking to revenge last week&#8217;s loss against the Cardinals.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Wide Receivers </h4>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Start &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RidlCa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">Calvin Ridley</a> (vs. Atl) &#8211; </strong>Ridley has been a non-factor in his last two games but that will change in London. Ridley had 15 targets in weeks 2 and 3 but only 5 receptions for 72 yards in that span including some costly drops. Up next is the Atlanta Falcons which will be a revenge game for Ridley. The entire Jaguars offense needs a reset and it&#8217;s a perfect time for them to go overseas. I see <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LawrTr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">Trevor Lawrence</a> getting some of his 2022 form back on Sunday.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sit &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McLaTe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">Terry McLaurin</a> (@ Phi) &#8211;</strong> Unfortunately it&#8217;s time to sit McLaurin until we see some better results. This isn&#8217;t a knock on McLaurin more so on the offense who have failed to protect <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HoweSa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">Sam Howell</a>. It&#8217;s hard to justify starting any of the Commanders wide receivers until they get their protection issues fixed. Washington now has to go on the road at Philadelphia and their d-line will be licking their chops. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Tight Ends</h4>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Start &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LaPoSa01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sam LaPorta</a> (@ GB) &#8211; </strong>LaPorta has been one of the surprises of the season so far for the Lions. The rookie tight finished TE1 in week 3 where he hauled in his first NFL touchdowns. He also had 11 targets which shows quarterback <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GoffJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jared Goff</a> is trusting the young tight end. Up next is Green Bay on Thursday night in an old-fashioned NFC North battle.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sit &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/N/NjokDa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr">David Njoku</a> (vs. Bal) &#8211;</strong> There was hope that Njoku would have a breakout year for the Browns but that hasn&#8217;t panned out yet. He has yet to score thus far and had a season-low 20 receiving yards last week. There are better options to start at the tight end position. Sit Njoku until he can carve out a bigger role. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Start of the Week</h4>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=CookJa01,CookJa20&amp;search=James+Cook&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-28_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">James Cook</a> (vs. Mia) &#8211;</strong> Cook has yet to hit the endzone this season but that will change on Sunday. He has looked the part for the Bills and is averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Next up is the Miami Dolphins and this one should be a barn burner. The Dolphins are allowing 20.4 fantasy points per game to running backs through the first 3 weeks. Look for a big game from Cook in week 4.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">NFL Week 2 Game Recap: Seattle Seahawks 37, Detroit Lions 31</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Seattle Seahawks won 37-31 in walk-off fashion on the road in Detroit as <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SmitGe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Geno Smith</a> found <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LockTy00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Tyler Lockett</a>, who reached out for the pylon. Smith led Seattle to a turnover-free victory, going 32-for-41 with 328 yards and two touchdowns. Both passing touchdowns were to Lockett, who racked up eight catches for 59 yards. Seattle also found success on the ground, rushing for 82 yards and two touchdowns.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Seahawks receiver <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MetcDK00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">D.K. Metcalf</a> left the game in the first quarter with a rib injury, and headed to to the locker room. He returned shortly after, finishing the game with six receptions for 75 yards, as Geno Smith spread the targets around all game. Turnovers proved to be the downfall for Detroit. The Lions fumbled the ball away twice in a row, one to end the first half and another to begin the second half. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GoffJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Jared Goff</a> then threw a pick-six to Seattle cornerback <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BrowTr03.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Tre Brown</a>, who ran it back 40 yards to the house. Late in the fourth quarter, Goff led the Lions down the field for a game-tying field goal, forcing overtime with a score of 31-31. The offense took over and scored a touchdown on its first drive as <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HoweSa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Sam Howell</a> found <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McLaTe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Terry McLaurin</a> in the middle of the endzone for a 30 yard touchdown, tying the game 21-21.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Denver eventually got the ball back with a chance to tie the game. After moving the ball to midfield, Russel Wilson and company had one last chance to force overtime. The deep hail mary pass was tipped around before being brought in by <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=JohnBr23,JohnBr20&amp;amp;search=Brandon+Johnson&amp;amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Brandon Johnson</a> for his second touchdown of the game, making the score 35-33. The two point conversion, a pass intended for <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SuttCo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Courtland Sutton</a> was incomplete as the Broncos looked for a pass-interference call but didn’t get it.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sam Howell finished the game with an impressive 27 completions on 39 attempts for 299 yards and two touchdown passes. Running back <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RobiBr01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Brian Robinson</a> Jr. also ran in for a pair of touchdowns himself.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">NFL Week 2 Game Recap: Dallas Cowboys 30, New York Jets 10</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Jets handedly by a score of 30-10 as the Cowboys defense dominated for the second week in a row. Dallas moves to 2-0 on the season as the Jets fall to 1-1.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/ParsMi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Micah Parsons</a> and the Cowboys defense looked unstoppable in week two, intercepting Jets quarterback <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WilsZa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Zach Wilson</a> three times. Parsons recorded two sacks and four hits on Wilson, as <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KearJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Jayron Kearse</a>, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HookMa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Malik Hooker</a>, and <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DiggTr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Trevon Diggs</a> each intercepted a pass.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Ceedee Lamb showed he didn’t need the help of <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CookBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Brandin Cooks</a>, who missed the game due to a sprained knee. Lamb recorded 11 catches for 143 yards, with big plays setting up for multiple scores for Dallas. Kicker <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AubrBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Brandon Aubrey</a> went five-for-five on field goals, as <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PresDa01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Dak Prescott</a> found tight ends <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FergJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Jake Ferguson</a> and <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SchoLu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Luke Schoonmaker</a> for a touchdown each.&amp;nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The lone touchdown for the Jets came from star receiver Garret Wilson, who caught a pass across the middle and took it 68 yards to the house, marking his longest touchdown of his career thus far. Other than that, there wasn’t much going for Zach Wilson and the Jets offense, who recorded 215 total yards. Parsons along with the rest of the ruthless Dallas front four pressured Wilson all game, showing why they are one of the best defenses in the NFL.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">NFL Week 2 Game Recap: Miami Dolphins 24, New England Patriots 17</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Miami Dolphins held off a late comeback by the New England Patriots, winning the game 24-17 as a lateral to <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StraCo01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Cole Strange</a> came up short on fourth down.&amp;nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoneMa05.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Mac Jones</a> finished the game 31-for-42 with 231 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The interception came at the end of the third quarter after the Patriots drove down the field into the redzone. <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HowaXa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Xavien Howard</a> picked off the pass intended for <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/ParkDe01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">DeVante Parker</a> on the sideline at the Miami three yard line, putting an end to New Englands’ drive and keeping the score at 17-3.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Patriots cut the lead down in the fourth quarter following a Mac Jones scramble for 18 yards, the longest run of the night for New England. Jones found <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HenrHu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Hunter Henry</a> on the run for a six yard touchdown pass, making the score 17-10.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On the next Miami possession, Tagovailoa threw it deep down the left side of the field to Tyreek Hill as the pass was intercepted by Christian Gonzalez. The rookie first round pick made a leaping catch over Hill, giving the Patriots the ball back.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Dolphins forced a three and out, getting the ball back on the New England 43 yard line. On the first play of the drive, Raheem Mostert took a handoff up the middle 43 yards untouched to the endzone, extending the lead to 24-10.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Mac Jones led the Patriots to a 9 play 75 yard drive ending with a <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/StevRh00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Rhamondre Stevenson</a> touchdown run to cut the lead down to 24-17.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Dolphins took the ball and drove it into Patriots territory, before the snap was fumbled on third and one. Tua recovered the fumble, but the mistake forced Miami to kick a 55 yard field goal. With concern for <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SchoBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Brenden Schooler</a>, who blocked the previous field goal, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SandJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Jason Sanders</a> missed the field goal, giving the Patriots an opportunity to tie or win the game.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After finding <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BourKe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Kendrick Bourne</a> for a pair of completions, Mac Jones was sacked by <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/ChubBr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Bradley Chubb</a> for a loss of 8 yards. New England was faced with a fourth and four, where Mac Jones completed a pass to <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GesiMi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-18_pfr">Mike Gesicki</a> short of the first down line. Gesicki threw a lateral to offensive lineman Cole Strange, who was stopped short of the marker, ending the comeback for the Patriots.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The win brings the Dolphins to 2-0 on the season, as the Patriots fall to 0-2.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>Our weekly fantasy football start &#8217;em, sit &#8217;em series will feature your best bets at the skill positions and players you should avoid. We will also include our start of the week for the player who is guaranteed to go off that week. As per usual I picked these players based on the Half-PPR scoring system. Be sure to check out our <a href="https://profootballmania.com/fantasy-football-rankings/">fantasy football </a>section for rankings and much more!</em></p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Quarterbacks</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Start &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HerbJu00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Justin Herbert</a> (vs. Mia) &#8211; Herbert has an enticing matchup this week against a Miami Dolphins team that will be without <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RamsJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jalen Ramsey</a>. Herbert threw for 367 yards in week 14 last year against the Dolphins and posted a 76.5 completion percentage. Expect similar results for Herbert along with 2 passing touchdowns. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sit &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RodgAa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Aaron Rodgers</a> (vs. Buf) &#8211; Rodgers has a tough matchup in his opening game with the New York Jets. The Jets offensive line will be tested all game long and even without <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MillVo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Von Miller</a> the Bills will be able to generate pressure. Rodgers struggled last year at Buffalo when he threw for just 203 yards. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Running Backs </h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Start &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/search/search.fcgi?pid=JoneAa00,JoneAa20&amp;amp;search=Aaron+Jones&amp;amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Aaron Jones</a> (vs. Chi) &#8211; Jones is in for a big day when the Packers visit the Chicago Bears. Green Bay is dealing with injuries to their top 2 receivers (<a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WatsCh00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Christian Watson</a> and <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DoubRo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Romeo Doubs</a>) which means more targets for Jones. We don&#8217;t know what to expect yet from <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LoveJo03.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jordan Love</a> but the Packers will likely rely on the run game in this one.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sit &#8217;em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HarrNa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Najee Harris</a> (vs. SF) &#8211; Harris and the Pittsburgh Steelers have a tough opening matchup against the 49ers and their stout defense. San Francisco allowed only 3.4 YPC in 2022 and they just got <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BosaNi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Nick Bosa</a> back in action. The Steelers will need to attack the 49ers defense through the air to have a chance in this one. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Wide Receivers</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Start &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DotsJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jahan Dotson</a> (vs. Ari) &#8211; Dotson is no longer under the radar after his impressive rookie season in Washington. The Commanders get a juicy matchup against a Cardinals defense that will struggle all season. Fellow receiver <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McLaTe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Terry McLaurin</a> looks to be ready to play but he may not be 100% yet. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sit &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HopkDe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">DeAndre Hopkins</a> (vs. NO) &#8211; We don&#8217;t know yet what to expect from Hopkins in this Titans offense. I plan to wait and see how he&#8217;s utilized before I put him in the starting lineup. The Saints will have a better-than-average defense this year and will be tough at home. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Tight Ends</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Start &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/EngrEv00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Evan Engram</a> (vs. IND) &#8211; It could be a long day for the Indianapolis Colts when Jacksonville comes to town. The Colts will need to play keep away to have any chance in this one. Expect Engram to have a big day against the Colts who struggled at times to stop tight ends in 2022. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sit &#8216;Em</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PittKy00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Kyle Pitts</a> (vs. Car) &#8211; After a disastrous 2022 it&#8217;s hard to put your trust in Pitts. The Panthers finished in the top 10 in points allowed to tight ends last year. That along with the fact we don&#8217;t know what to expect from <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RiddDe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Desmond Ridder</a> has me sitting Pitts this week.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Start of the Week  </h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WillJa06.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jamaal Williams</a> (vs. Ten) &#8211; Williams is a must-start for week 1. With <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KamaAl00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-08_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Alvin Kamara</a> sidelined due to suspension Williams will get the majority of the workload against the Titans. I don&#8217;t expect to see that many touches from rookie Kendre Miller until he gets up to speed. Don&#8217;t forget, Williams led the league with 17 rushing touchdowns last year. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Regardless of what happens on the field, this season is already a success for Washington Commanders fans. Dan Snyder is finally gone for good as Josh Harris and his group of owners have taken over the team. This is a moment Washington fans have waited a long time for as the team can finally focus on just football. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On the field, the Commanders will turn to 2nd year quarterback <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HoweSa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-07_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sam Howell</a> who they selected in the 5th round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Howell impressed in his one and only start in week 18 last year against the Dallas Cowboys. Is Howell the franchise quarterback Washington is hoping for? Let&#8217;s break that down further and offer a record prediction for the 2023-2024 season. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">The Good</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AlleJo01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-07_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Jonathan Allen</a> has been the anchor on Washington&#8217;s loaded defensive line for several years now. It&#8217;s hard to believe that the former Alabama DT is still underrated but somehow he is. Allen belongs in the conversation as one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL today. He has always had a knack for rushing the passer but has also improved in the run game as well. Allen has a lethal combination of speed and power that most offensive linemen have trouble dealing with. Allen and <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PaynDa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-07_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Daron Payne</a> have formed one of the best defensive tackle duos in the league. </p>

<center><a id='jdquMkaWQ01fpKnIWawGdA' class='gie-single' href='http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/1422839664' target='_blank' style='color:#a7a7a7;text-decoration:none;font-weight:normal !important;border:none;display:inline-block;' rel="noopener">Embed from Getty Images</a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'jdquMkaWQ01fpKnIWawGdA',sig:'mfss-BHXZKna2NAdjf5Le11RzBgnNVfAitr9hDbT5LQ=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'1422839664',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});</script><script src='//embed-cdn.gettyimages.com/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async></script></center>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On the offensive side of the ball wide receiver <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McLaTe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-07_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Terry McLaurin</a> continues to get better despite below-average quarterback play. McLaurin has played with 10 starting quarterbacks in his first 4 years in Washington. Despite that McLaurin continues about his business and doesn&#8217;t use that as an excuse. McLaurin had a career-high 1,191 yards in 2022. The hope is Howell gets the full season to show what he can do. If that happens expect a big year for McLaurin. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">The Bad</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Commanders offensive line is an area of concern heading into this season. I will be watching this line closely to see how well it can protect its young quarterback. Washington signed former Kansas City Chief <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WyliAn00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-07_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Andrew Wylie</a> to take over the RT position. Wylie struggled at times in the preseason but I will hold judgment on him until the season starts. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Elsewhere the Commanders will have a new center as <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GateNi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-07_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Nick Gates</a> will start at that position. Gates is a brawler who can bring attitude to this line but at times has struggled with the pass rush. Keep an eye on RG <a href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CharSa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=profootballmania.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-09-07_pfr" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Saahdiq Charles</a>. If he can take the next step in his development he has the tools to be a successful guard.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">The Prediction</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I have the Commanders as one of the surprise teams in the NFL this year. The ownership change will have a big impact on team morale as the fans are coming back in droves. Eric Bieniemy will get this offense to perform at a high level and Sam Howell looks to be the real deal.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2023 Record: (10-7 2nd in the Division) </strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In fantasy football, the best ball format has quickly gained steam as one of the most popular fantasy formats. The ability to draft your team and then move on is attractive to those who don&#8217;t have the time for weekly roster management. With that said, it&#8217;s time to release our 2023 best ball rankings for the upcoming season. As with all of our rankings, these will be updated throughout the offseason.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Trending Up</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Curtis Samuel (Commanders &#8211; WR) </strong>| Have we forgotten about Curtis Samuel? Samuel bounced back last year after a nagging groin injury kept him out for much of the 2021-2022 season. Despite mediocre quarterback play, Samuel was still able to produce 5 total touchdowns and 144.3 FP (Half PPR). He had a target share of 17.3% and 9 red zone targets which were only 2 behind Terry McLaurin. Best ball is all about taking risks. Draft Samuel in the late rounds and profit.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Trending Down</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Marquise &#8220;Hollywood&#8221; Brown (Cardinals &#8211; WR)</strong> | The Arizona Cardinals look to be in full tank mode. They recently released DeAndre Hopkins which propels Brown to the WR #1 role. In theory, that sounds great but the Cardinals offense will be stuck in the mud for most of the season. Brown will receive a majority of the defensive coverage and I am not sure he is built to be a #1.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)" class="has-inline-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color">Looking for more rankings?  Check out our <a href="https://profootballmania.com/fantasy-football-rankings/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fantasy football rankings</a> section.</mark></em></p>
