What is the best landing spot for Saquon Barkley?
By: Jake Rajala
Saquon Barkley climbed out of the pit (from Darknight Rises), after cranking out 616 rushing yards, 5.2 yards per carry, and four rushing touchdowns entering Week 7. Barkley has already eclipsed his rushing yard tally (593) from his 13-game season in 2021. Although, it should be said that the Giants savior is set to be a free agent in 2023. With that said, I’m going to untwine the best landing spots for Barkley in 2023.
New York Giants
The GMEN has to be the best landing spot for Barkley long-term. Barkley is finding a heap of success with the Giants right now – as it’s clear that he has strong continuity with his scheme. Most importantly, his team is standing strong at 5-1. It’s clear that Barkley & his QB Daniel Jones (who is also a 2023 FA) can stick together with the Giants for many more seasons.
Buffalo Bills
Bills Mafia ought to be aggressive to acquire Christian McCaffrey or Saquon Barkley in the near future. The Bills brought in Von Miller this prior off-season and it’s clear that they are pedaling to the metal to win a Lombardi trophy soon. Josh Allen, Barkley, and Stefon Diggs would be quite the ultimate QB-RB-WR trio.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens have a QB (Lamar Jackson) that always has a chance to win MVP. The Ravens also possess an All-Pro caliber TE in Mark Andrews. Well, they don’t have an overly sexy profile at RB. J.K. Dobbins has talent, but he isn’t a freak athlete. It would be exciting if Baltimore brought in Barkley to dismantle foes.
San Francisco 49ers
Elijah Mitchell will be coming off a torn ACL and the San Francisco 49ers don’t really carry any other dynamic ball carriers. Kyle Shanahan loves to run the ball and he could ensure that he obtains a top-notch RB in Barkley in the 2023 off-season.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots love to play smash-mouth football. Bill Belichick isn’t scared to pull the trigger on acquiring a big-name profile, so he should put his energy into improving his rushing attack. Plus, Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe absolutely deserve an unearthly figure in their arsenal.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders need to roll the dice in 2023. They have scary Terry & Carson Wentz, but they still are struggling to be effective in the surprisingly ultra-brutal NFC East. I love the idea of the Commanders as a dark horse to ink Barkley.
