TEAM SUPER BOWL HISTORY
Have the Arizona Cardinals Ever Won a Super Bowl?
No. The Arizona Cardinals have never won a Super Bowl. Arizona is 0–1 after a 27–23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII.
Arizona’s only appearance was not a ceremonial trip. Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald erased a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit, and Fitzgerald’s 64-yard touchdown gave the Cardinals the lead with 2:37 left. Pittsburgh answered with one of the sharpest final drives the game has seen.

One Trip, One Late Lead
The 2008 Cardinals entered the postseason at 9–7 and then found a different gear. Warner attacked downfield, Fitzgerald became the hardest matchup in the tournament and Arizona won three playoff games to reach Tampa. The Super Bowl followed the same pattern: a dangerous offense refusing to disappear after Pittsburgh had taken control.
That comeback is what separates Arizona’s 0–1 record from a routine loss. The Cardinals did not spend the final quarter trying to make the score respectable. They took the lead and forced Ben Roethlisberger to drive the Steelers the length of the field to win it.

Arizona Took the Lead With 2:37 Left
Pittsburgh led 20–7 entering the fourth quarter, but Arizona scored 16 straight points. Fitzgerald caught a short touchdown, the Cardinals added a safety and then Warner found Fitzgerald in stride for a 64-yard score. After chasing the game for most of the night, Arizona was suddenly ahead 23–20.
The lead lasted less than two minutes. Roethlisberger moved Pittsburgh 78 yards, and Santonio Holmes secured the winning touchdown in the back corner with 35 seconds left. Arizona had one final possession, but a fumble ended it before the Cardinals could set up a tying kick.

Turning point: Santonio Holmes caught the winning touchdown with 35 seconds left, getting both feet down in the back corner of the end zone.
James Harrison’s 100-yard interception return turned a possible Arizona score into a 17–7 halftime deficit. The Cardinals still rallied behind Warner and Fitzgerald, whose 64-yard touchdown put Arizona ahead late. Roethlisberger answered by repeatedly finding Holmes on the final drive, including the six-yard touchdown that took the lead back for Pittsburgh.
Why Arizona’s Only Appearance Still Carries Weight
The Cardinals were hurt by two enormous plays in opposite halves. James Harrison returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown just before halftime. Holmes then finished the winning drive with the catch that decided the game. Arizona still found a way to lead between them.
That matters when reading the final score. Arizona was four points short, but the game swung from a goal-line interception to a fourth-quarter comeback to a last-minute answer. The franchise’s only Super Bowl gave an NFL fan far more to remember than a single appearance count.
