2026 NFL Head Coaches: All 32 Coaches, Ages and Rankings

10 of the NFL’s 32 teams changed head coaches this offseason. That is a major reset for one year, and it means plenty of teams will be learning new systems, new practice routines and new expectations at the same time.

Most of those hires are taking over situations that already needed work. 8 of the 10 new staffs begin outside the top half of the current PFM Coaching Direction rankings. The range is still wide: Mike McCarthy takes over the Pittsburgh Steelers at 83.2, No. 10 in the league, while Jesse Minter starts with the Baltimore Ravens at 71.3, No. 31 in the league.

The jobs are different in another important way. Some new coaches can build around an established quarterback and a roster ready to win now. Others are being asked to choose the quarterback, reshape the scheme and change the way the entire team plays. Calling both situations “new” does not make them equal.

A coaching change is only the first move. PFM grades the whole setup—the head coach, coordinators, player development, game management and how the staff fits the roster. The real question in 2026 is which new staffs can settle the quarterback plan, build a clear identity and stop giving away the small edges that decide close games.
