Tate's NFL debut was modest but useful. He caught four passes for 38 yards against the Jets, with a long gain of 14 yards. That is not a breakout line, but four receptions in his first regular-season game showed that Tennessee was willing to involve him immediately.
PFM ranks Tate WR40 for Week 2 against Philadelphia. The matchup is tougher, so the more important question is whether the target volume grows from the opener. Tate does not need a touchdown to remain relevant if he can move toward six or seven catches, but the rookie profile is still developing. Week 2 is another data point on how quickly Tennessee is prepared to expand his role.
