Carnell Tate has shown flashes of the receiver Tennessee expected when it selected him early in the draft. He has 29 receptions for 344 yards and a touchdown through six games, a useful beginning for a rookie in an offense still trying to find itself. His size and catch radius give Cam Ward a target on throws when the coverage is tight, but the Titans have not consistently created enough passing success to keep him productive every Sunday.

Tate's best stretches have come when Ward can work from a clean pocket and Tennessee avoids falling into long third downs. There have also been games where the ball hardly finds him, a problem that affects his weekly fantasy floor. PFM's WR34 rest-of-season position is an appropriate measure of the current opportunity. Tate can become more important as the season progresses, but the next step is a steady target count and better efficiency from the quarterback, not another prediction based on draft position.
