LaPorta's opener was a useful return to regular-season action. He caught five passes for 48 yards against New Orleans, with a long gain of 19 yards and no touchdown. The line was not explosive, but five receptions immediately re-established a meaningful role in Detroit's passing game.

PFM ranks LaPorta TE5 for Week 2 at Buffalo. That ranking reflects a tight end who does not need a touchdown to produce a usable fantasy line when the reception volume is there. Detroit may need to throw more in this matchup, which creates room for the ceiling to rise. Week 1 provided the floor. Week 2 will show whether the scoring and yardage upside follow.
