Brock Purdy did enough through the air to move San Francisco against Atlanta, completing 27 of 40 passes for 288 yards. The problem was two interceptions in a 29-20 loss that ended the 49ers' unbeaten start. Earlier performances against Arizona and Miami had shown how explosive the offense could be when Purdy had time to work through his reads. Atlanta brought the first real reminder that aggressive passing can also leave the team vulnerable to mistakes.

Purdy has 1,748 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions through seven games. He has added 161 rushing yards and a score, another source of fantasy production when passing lanes close. PFM ranks him QB4 rest of season, with no Week 8 ranking because San Francisco is on its bye. That break also gives the staff time to assess Christian McCaffrey's hamstring strain. Purdy's value still rests on efficient passing and a full group of offensive options.
