McCaffrey's fantasy line against Miami looked much better than the rushing efficiency. He carried 10 times for 23 yards but scored twice, then added four catches for 43 yards as San Francisco rolled to a 35-13 win.
The bigger trend is the workload. McCaffrey has exactly 20 carries through two games after handling a much larger role last season. The receiving work is still useful and the goal-line work remains valuable, but the 49ers are clearly not asking him to carry the same weekly volume right now. The touchdowns rescued Week 2. Going forward, the touch count matters more than whether he can still produce when the ball is in his hands.
