DK Metcalf gave Pittsburgh a needed breakthrough against Cleveland, then watched the passing game retreat a week later. His five-catch, 115-yard Week 4 showed what happens when the Steelers connect on his deeper routes. The response against Indianapolis was three receptions for 12 yards. After five games, Metcalf has 19 catches for 225 yards and only one touchdown, far below what the downfield workload should be producing.

PFM has him WR22 for Week 6 at Tampa Bay and WR30 for the rest of the season. Pittsburgh is still giving him chances to stretch the field, and that keeps a big play or a 100-yard day within reach. The problem is how often those chances end without a completion. His 6.1 yards per target underline the gap between opportunity and results. Metcalf can be a useful upside play in favorable situations, but one strong afternoon cannot be treated as proof that the connection has been repaired.
