Week 1PFM Fantasy Outlook
Metcalf's first game of 2026 was steady but unspectacular. He caught four passes for 40 yards in Pittsburgh's win over Atlanta and did not score, finishing with no gain longer than 14 yards. That is a much lower-impact line than fantasy managers expect from a receiver whose value is tied to chunk plays and touchdowns.
PFM ranks Metcalf WR29 for Week 2 at New England. The ranking reflects the proven ceiling without pretending the opener was strong. Four catches can work when one becomes a 40-yard gain or a touchdown, but Week 1 never produced that play. The Week 2 question is whether Pittsburgh creates more valuable targets rather than simply more short completions. Metcalf remains a starter, but the path back toward WR2 production starts with deeper opportunities.
