Evans' first regular-season game with San Francisco was more about role than yardage. He caught six passes for 49 yards and a touchdown against the Rams, giving Brock Purdy a reliable scoring option without needing a deep-ball eruption. Six receptions in a new offense were a strong sign for a veteran whose fit was one of the bigger preseason questions.
PFM ranks Evans WR15 for Week 2 against Miami. The touchdown cannot be assumed every week, but the reception volume suggests he already has a meaningful place in the passing game. Week 1 did not show the vertical ceiling that has defined much of his career, yet it did show that San Francisco is comfortable using him in scoring situations. Week 2 will test whether the yardage expands as the connection settles in.
