How Many Super Bowls Have the Chicago Bears Won?
The Chicago Bears have won one Super Bowl in two appearances.
Chicago has been to two Super Bowls 21 years apart. The 1985 Bears overwhelmed New England with one of the best defenses the league has seen. The 2006 team got an opening kickoff touchdown from Devin Hester, but Indianapolis settled in and controlled the rest of Super Bowl XLI.

The 1985 Bears Defense Took Over Super Bowl XX
The personalities made the 1985 Bears famous, but the defense was every bit as good as its reputation. Chicago held New England to seven rushing yards, recorded seven sacks and scored on an interception return and a safety. After Walter Payton’s early fumble gave the Patriots the ball at the Bears’ 19, Chicago held them to three points and took over from there.
Walter Payton did not score, but that does not make him a side note to the championship. He carried 22 times while New England spent the rest of the night dealing with Richard Dent and a Bears defense that kept creating bad downs. Chicago turned a 3–0 deficit into 44 straight points and won 46–10.

Super Bowl XLI Changed After Hester’s Opening Touchdown
Hester’s 92-yard return made Chicago the first team to score on the opening kickoff of a Super Bowl. It also gave the Bears a 7–0 lead before their offense had taken a snap.
The Colts did not panic after Hester’s return. Manning hit Reggie Wayne for a long touchdown and Indianapolis kept moving the ball through Addai and Rhodes. Chicago stayed within five points into the fourth quarter before Hayden’s interception return made it 29–17.

What Stands Out About Chicago’s Two Super Bowls
Both Bears teams got there with defense and special teams doing a lot of the heavy lifting. The 1985 team turned pressure and takeaways into a blowout. The 2006 team got the perfect start from Hester, but could not get Indianapolis off the field often enough.
That is the biggest difference between the two trips. New England never recovered once the 1985 defense took over. Indianapolis did.
