Teams With the Most Super Bowl Wins

The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers lead with 6 championships each. The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers are one win back at 5. Those four franchises own 22 of the first 60 Super Bowl titles.

Relocations and name changes stay with the same franchise, so every title and appearance remains part of one history. The year-by-year Super Bowl winners list shows when each championship was won.

Pittsburgh and New England reached six in opposite ways. The Steelers won four in a six-year burst, then came back for titles in 2006 and 2009. The Patriots won all six from 2002 through 2019, making one sustained run last nearly two decades.

Dallas and San Francisco both reached five before the end of the 1990s. Dallas last won in 1996, while San Francisco’s fifth came in 1995. Their place near the top has held even through long stretches without another championship.

The Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are unbeaten across multiple appearances. A 2–0 record is perfect, but it is not the same history as twelve trips and six wins. Championships, repeat appearances and how often a team won once it got there each tell a different part of the story.

The Super Bowl appearances table shows the full win-loss record behind each championship total.

How the totals work

Years refer to the calendar year when the Super Bowl was played. Franchise totals follow the current franchise across relocations and team-name changes. Co-MVPs count as two awards in one game. Current franchises with no appearance are included with zero trips rather than omitted.
