Stefon Diggs has agreed to terms with the Washington Commanders, the 32-year old from the Maryland area is back, and feels like he still has a lot to offer.
Let’s not forget he was on a Super Bowl team last year and had over 1,000 receiving yards. Now, he was the #1 receiver but that’s impressive that he’s still producing after over a decade in the league. Let’s face it, the Commanders needed another receiver. Aside from Terry McLaurin last year, Jaylin Lane was the leading receiver with a whopping 235 yards. That’s just not going to cut it when your in the NFC East where offenses are producing at a high level.
The Commanders needed depth, and they got that with Stefon and aside from depth leadership and experience. There has been rumors that he could be a cancer, but lately the rumor is he’s a great teammate in the locker room.
It’s got to be appealing to Stefon, that he gets to play with Jayden Daniels, who has been having a stellar camp so far. The word is his ball accuracy is on point which is pleasant news for all the receivers. In watching Stefon’s highlights last year, he appears that he’s not as explosive as he was, but his route running is still very good and his ability to change direction and speeds is still top notch.
The interesting thing to watch this year will be the dynamic between him and Terry McLaurin. What will the target share be like when you have two prolific receivers. I expect them to feed off each other and work well together in this offense. Also with having more threats at receiver, we should see a solid running game to include Jayden Daniels. There is a lot to like about this acquisition, and we will see if the Commanders can get back on top of the NFC East.
