Carolina is no longer winning only when Bryce Young and Tetairoa McMillan hit explosives. Young threw for 281 yards against Philadelphia, Chuba Hubbard ran for 120 and the Panthers used pressure to make Tanner McKee uncomfortable. That is a more complete formula than Carolina showed earlier in the season, with the run game and defense now giving Young real support.
Carolina's rating improved after a 25-14 Week 6 win, led by gains in Recent Performance and Offense Strength.
Carolina can now win through both Bryce Young's arm and Chuba Hubbard's physical run game. Young kept attacking the middle and outside receivers against Philadelphia, while Hubbard turned 28 carries into 120 yards and wore down the defense late. Ejiro Evero can bring pressure behind that offense, which gives the Panthers a much more balanced identity than a pure Young-to-McMillan passing team.
The question is no longer whether Carolina can create defensive disruption at all. It is whether Devin Lloyd, Derrick Brown and the coverage can make Week 2 repeatable enough to keep Bryce Young from playing from behind every Sunday.

That means Carolina can get the ball out before pressure changes the down, while Atlanta can pull linebackers toward the run before throwing behind them. Atlanta separates in Roster Strength through broader support across the full lineup rather than one isolated star.
Atlanta remains the team to catch in the NFC South. Tampa Bay remains the NFC South standard Carolina has to catch. Carolina can stay in the race by staying balanced, winning with play action and letting the young receivers create yards after the catch. The remaining problem is Young’s consistency and a pass rush that cannot disappear for long stretches.

Jaycee Horn remains Carolina's top corner, but the current outside starters around him include Akayleb Evans and Will Lee III. The Panthers need another dependable cover player who can hold up outside every week.
Jaelan Phillips gives Carolina a dangerous rusher, but the opposite edge is built around Patrick Jones II and developing options. Another explosive edge defender would give the front a second consistent pressure source.
Luke Fortner is the current starting center and Carolina carries only two listed centers in the live roster context. Adding a young interior pivot would strengthen both competition and depth in front of Bryce Young.
